Curtains are ordered by window size, and the buyer is never sure they measured it right.

Curtains fail on arithmetic. The buyer measures a window, decides on a rod, and then has to work out how many panels, how long, and what fullness. A mistake leaves a short curtain hanging above the floor or a pair that does not close. They know this, so they hesitate.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

Curtain e-commerce is the online sale of ready-made and made-to-measure curtains, sheers, blackouts and door curtains, sold by the panel or the pair in a fixed drop. GullySales works on how your listings handle window measurement, panel counts, opacity and fabric colour, and how buyers are guided to the right length before they order.

The second question is light. Whether a curtain blocks light, lets it through, or does half of each is the point of the purchase, and the photograph rarely shows it.

Who it is for

This is written for you if you sell curtains online.

  • Curtain makers selling ready-made panels in standard drops
  • Brands offering made-to-measure curtains with a measuring guide
  • Sheer, blackout and door curtain sellers on marketplaces
  • Home textile brands where curtains are one part of a room range

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A seller with no way to fix a measurement error once the fabric is cut
  • A brand that claims a curtain is blackout when light comes through the weave

How buyers choose

What decides the sale of curtains.

  1. Window size and the drop

Width of the window, height from the rod to the floor, and whether the curtain should touch or stop above the sill. Buyers look for a clear guide before the add-to-cart.

  2. Panel or pair

Some listings sell one panel and some sell two. A buyer who orders one when the page said two ends up with half a window.

  3. Opacity and lining

Sheer, semi-sheer, room-darkening, blackout. The buyer wants to know whether the room will be dark at noon and whether the curtain will show a shadow.

  4. Heading, rings and rods

Eyelets, rod pockets, back tabs and pleats each go with a different rod. Buyers look for whether rings or hooks come in the pack.

Where sales are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell curtains online.

In the words sellers use on the first call.

  • “Customers say the curtain is too short”

They measured to the rod and forgot the height the rod sits above the window. Without a measuring diagram, a made-to-measure order is lost to a measurement error.

  • “The fabric looks different in the room”

A cream in the photograph, a pale yellow at the window. The return is larger than the discount that would have saved the sale.

  • “Buyers do not know how many panels they need”

A wide window or a sliding door needs more fabric than the buyer expects. They add one panel to the basket, are unsure and go away.

The scope

The work we would propose for curtains.

Measured on purchases, conversion rate, cost to win a customer, average order value and repeat purchases. Anything here that needs a platform or tool we have not used with you is confirmed in the audit before it goes in the scope.

What we do

What you get for curtains.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A window measuring guide

A diagram with the three measurements, and a worked example for a standard window and for a sliding door.

  2. A panels-per-window table

How many panels for a window of a given width, with a note about fullness, so the buyer orders the right number.

  3. An opacity guide for your fabrics

A photograph of each fabric against a window, with a plain label from sheer to blackout.

  4. A made-to-measure request form

Fields for measurements, rod type, colour and room, so the first quote is right and the fabric is cut once.

How the result is measured

  • Purchases
  • Conversion rate
  • Customer acquisition cost
  • Average order value
  • Return rate
  • Returns for wrong size

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What we need from you

What to have ready before the audit call.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Your curtain range with drops, widths and fabrics
  • Returns and their reasons, especially size and colour
  • The questions customers send before ordering
  • Your made-to-measure process, if you have one
  • Marketplace links for your best-selling curtains

Selling in India and abroad

Selling curtains beyond your own market.

Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.

  1. Window sizes and rod standards

Standard drops and widths in the US and UK are not the same as Indian ones, and curtains are bought by inches or centimetres. A listing for abroad needs its own table.

  2. Fire safety and fabric labelling

Some markets have labelling for fabrics used at windows. What your product may claim is checked with your adviser before you sell there.

FAQ

Questions about selling curtains online.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should I sell curtains by panel or by pair?
Choose one and say it in the title. Mixed listings cause the most wrong orders. If you sell panels, show a photograph of a pair so the buyer knows what the window looks like with two.
How do I describe blackout curtains honestly?
Say how much light is blocked, how it is done, and what leaks at the edges. A buyer who wanted total darkness and got a dim room will say so in the review.
Is made-to-measure worth offering online?
It brings larger orders and fewer returns for odd windows, but a mistake costs the whole fabric. We look at how you collect measurements today before suggesting it.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.
