Everyone wants a moisturiser that is light in Chennai and still works in a Delhi winter.

A moisturiser is bought for how it feels. The buyer asks whether it is greasy, whether it sits on the skin or sinks in, whether it works under sunscreen and makeup. None of these is in the ingredient list, and all of them show up in reviews.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

Moisturisers are gel creams, lotions, creams and night creams for the face, bought by skin type and by season, and reordered when the pot is empty. GullySales works on the texture and weather information buyers look for, on the winter and summer demand swings, and on the way a jar can be sold again to a buyer who liked the first one.

The season changes what sells. A gel cream does well from March to October in most of the country, and a rich cream sells in the cold months in the north. A brand with only one product has half a year of demand.

Last updated 7 Oct 2026. Product, labelling and advertising rules for skincare differ by product and change. We describe them in general terms, so check the current position with your own adviser or the regulator before you publish a claim.

Who it is for

This is written for you if you sell moisturisers online.

  • Brands with a gel cream or a lightweight lotion for oily and combination skin
  • Sellers of rich creams and night creams for dry skin and winter
  • Brands with a simple one-product range who want to sell a second moisturiser
  • Sellers of fragrance-free moisturisers aimed at sensitive skin

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A seller who wants to say a moisturiser treats eczema, repairs the skin barrier or heals a condition
  • A brand whose jar and cap cannot be sealed for shipping, since leaks make the reviews

How buyers choose

What decides the sale of moisturisers.

  1. Texture and absorption

Gel, lotion, cream or balm, and whether it feels sticky or greasy. Buyers read what reviewers say about it under sunscreen and under makeup.

  2. Season and city

Buyers describe where they live: Bengaluru weather, Delhi winter, a coastal city's humidity. They look for a reviewer in similar weather.

  3. Day, night and SPF

Whether it is a daytime moisturiser or a night cream, whether it has SPF and whether it replaces a separate sunscreen. The last question is where the wrong claim creeps in.

  4. Jar, tube or pump

A pump or tube is seen as more hygienic than a jar. Buyers look at the size in grams, and how long the pack lasts at a pea-sized amount a day.

Where sales are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell moisturisers online.

In the words sellers use on the first call.

  • “Our sales drop every monsoon and spike every winter”

A single moisturiser covers one weather. The buyer in humid weather moves to something lighter, from another brand.

  • “Reviews say it clogged my pores”

A rich cream bought by someone with oily skin, and the page did not say who it was meant for. The review is read by every buyer with oily skin afterwards.

  • “The jar arrives leaking”

A leaked jar is a bad first order and a photograph in the reviews. Packaging and sealing are part of the sale.

What we do

What you get for moisturisers.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A texture and weather guide

Which of your moisturisers suit humid, dry and cold weather, in the words buyers use, with a short video of each texture.

  2. A day-and-night routine page

A plain explanation of what goes on in the morning with sunscreen and at night, and whether a moisturiser with SPF replaces a separate one.

  3. A seasonal calendar

When each product is pushed, when stock must be ready and when budgets move from one range to another.

  4. A packaging and shipping check

A review of how jars and tubes are sealed and packed, with the leak returns from the past season as the test.

How the result is measured

  • Purchases
  • Conversion rate
  • Customer acquisition cost
  • Average order value
  • Repeat purchase rate
  • Returns for leaks and damage

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What we need from you

What to have ready before the audit call.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Your moisturiser range with sales by month
  • Reviews mentioning texture, greasiness, breakouts and leaks
  • Return reasons with the packaging involved
  • Your SPF and claims on the label, if any
  • Reorder timing for each size

Selling in India and abroad

Selling moisturisers beyond your own market.

Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.

  1. Opposite seasons and different climates

Buyers in the Gulf look for a light, non-greasy cream in a dry heat, and buyers in the UK or Canada for a rich one for months. Your own overseas orders show which sells.

  2. SPF and cosmetic rules

A moisturiser with SPF can be a regulated product in some countries and a cosmetic in others. Your adviser confirms how it is classed and labelled before listing.

FAQ

Questions about selling moisturisers online.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How do I sell moisturisers through the monsoon?
Sell a lighter product then, or sell the routine rather than the cream. A gel cream, a night product and a sunscreen keep the buyer with you through the year. If you only have a rich cream, plan for the dip.
Can I say my moisturiser is non-comedogenic?
Only with the testing to support it, and with your adviser's approval of the wording. Without it, describe the texture and who it suits. Buyers read the claim sceptically, and an honest line on texture is often more believable.
Should I switch from a jar to a pump?
Check your reviews first. If buyers mention hygiene or mess, a pump may help, and it is a talking point in the listing. If they are not complaining, the cost of the change may not be worth it.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.
