Online education and EdTech companies · Buyer journey

Know where the parent or learner stands at each step, and what they need to see next.

The buyer journey for an EdTech company is the path from a learner or parent noticing a need to paying for a course and starting classes. The path differs for a school-age course, an exam batch and a professional upskilling programme. GullySales maps each one from your own records and builds what each stage needs.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer journey means

The buyer journey is the sequence of steps a customer actually takes, from first hearing about you to deciding to buy, which is rarely a single visit or call. GullySales maps this sequence for your business and checks that something useful happens at each step instead of only at the final call.

For online education and EdTech companies

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The parent and the child decide separately”

A parent checks the fee and the teacher, while the child decides after the demo class. A page or call written for only one of them loses the other.

  • “Working professionals take weeks to decide”

They watch a free session, read reviews, compare two more bootcamps and wait for a salary date. Silence is not a no.

  • “The journey does not end at payment”

A learner who attends three classes and drifts leaves a bad review. The early classes decide referrals and repeat enrolments.

What we do

What we deliver for online education and EdTech companies.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A journey map for each course type

A written path for school-age learners, exam aspirants and working professionals, drawn from your own enquiry records.

Result: Each buyer type gets a path that fits it.

  2. A stage-by-stage content list

For each stage, the page, message or call a buyer needs, with gaps marked where nothing exists yet.

Result: You can see what to build first.

  3. A drop-out analysis from your records

The point where enquiries stop, found from the enquiry sheet, the demo list and the payment record.

Result: You fix the stage that loses the most learners.

  4. Handoff points between marketing and counsellors

A clear rule for when an enquiry moves from a form to a counsellor and what the counsellor must know.

Result: No enquiry falls between two people.

  5. After-enrolment steps

A welcome, a first-week check and a review ask, planned as part of the journey.

Result: The learner's early classes are looked after.

How the result is measured

  • Drop-off rate by step
  • Time from first contact to sale
  • Steps with no content

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Stages of this buyer's journey

Plan what the buyer asks and what you must have ready at each stage.

The stages differ a little for a school-age parent and a working professional. The detail below is a typical pattern to check against your own records.

Notices a need
A weak result, a job change or an exam date creates the need. The buyer asks friends and watches free videos. Have a free lesson or study guide ready that leads gently to your course page.
Searches and shortlists
The buyer types the exam, subject or skill and opens a few pages. Have a page per course with the syllabus, schedule and fee, and a Google listing with recent reviews.
Compares
The buyer lines up two or three providers on teacher, fee, recordings and refund terms. Have a plain comparison, the refund page and an instructor profile ready.
Tries a demo or speaks to a counsellor
The learner joins a trial class and the parent speaks to a counsellor. Have a reminder, a working joining link and a counsellor who has read the learner's form.
Decides and pays
The family discusses fee, instalments and timing. Have a clear fee sheet, an instalment option and a call to answer last doubts. Record the reason when a family says no.
After enrolment
The learner starts classes and decides whether to continue and refer. Have a welcome call, a first-week check and a review request after a good module.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer journey work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the sales process

We walk through how a sale actually happens today, from the person who first answers an enquiry to the one who closes it.

  2. 2

    Audit the data

Website analytics, call logs and CRM records are pulled together to see where people actually drop out, not where they are assumed to.

  3. 3

    Interview buyers and staff

A handful of recent customers and the team who speak to them fill in the reasons behind the numbers.

  4. 4

    Build the map

Stages, touchpoints and drop-off points are set out in one document everyone can read the same way.

  5. 5

    Fix and measure

Each fix is implemented against the stage it addresses, and the drop-off rate at that stage is checked afterwards.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

How long does the buying decision take?
It varies by course. A parent choosing tuition before an exam may decide in days, while a professional comparing bootcamps may take much longer. Look at the gap between enquiry and payment in your own records.
Who else is involved in the decision?
For school-age courses, parents, sometimes grandparents, and the child. For professional courses, a spouse or a manager who may pay. For corporate training, an HR head, a department head and a finance approver.
What should we do about buyers who go quiet?
Find out at which stage they stopped, then send something suited to it: a sample lesson after a demo, a fee note after a quote. Record the date and stop after a fixed number of tries.
How do we find where buyers drop out?
Count the enquiries, the demos booked, the demos attended, the quotes sent and the payments for one course over the same period. The step with the biggest fall is where to look first.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
