Study abroad consultants · Buyer persona

Write down who is choosing the consultant: the student, the parent or the one paying.

A buyer persona for a study abroad consultant describes the person who decides and the people who influence the decision, which is rarely the student alone. GullySales builds one persona for each country and course you counsel on, from your own enquiry and enrolment records.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

Last updated 17 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.

For study abroad consultants

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The parent is a persona in their own right”

A parent worries about the total cost, the safety of the city and what happens after a refusal. Content aimed at the student alone leaves the person who signs the cheque with unanswered doubts. Write down the questions the parent asks in each session.

  • “The student with a funded plan asks different questions”

A student with a scholarship target asks about eligibility and deadlines. A student relying on an education loan asks about collateral and approval time. One counselling script does not suit both. Two cards, two scripts, one counsellor who knows which to use.

  • “The working professional is not a final-year student”

A working professional weighing a master's abroad thinks about leaving a job, a salary and perhaps a family. The questions, the timing and the trust needed all differ from a student finishing college. The work history and the reason for leaving a job belong on the card.

  • “A sibling or alumnus sets the shortlist”

A student whose cousin went to one country asks about that country first. Knowing who put the idea there tells you whom to thank and where the next enquiry may come from. Ask every new student who first suggested the country.

What we do

What we deliver for study abroad consultants.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A parent persona

A written profile of what a parent checks, fears and asks, built from the questions raised in your counselling sessions.

Result: Pages and calls answer the parent, not only the student.

  2. A student persona for each country and field

One profile for each priority country and course, with the questions asked and the tests taken.

Result: Messages match the destination the student is considering.

  3. A working-professional persona

A profile covering timing, savings, work experience and family circumstances for older applicants.

Result: Older applicants get a conversation that fits their position.

  4. A funding persona

A profile of families who depend on a loan or a scholarship, with the questions they ask and the documents they need early.

Result: Funding questions are answered at the start, not discovered late.

  5. Persona cards checked against enrolments

Each card compared with students who enrolled and those who stopped, so the card describes the buyer and not only the student who stayed.

Result: The cards match real students.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How many personas do we need?
Start with one for each priority country and one for parents. Build them from your own enquiry log and enrolment records, then adjust as you learn who actually stopped and why.
How do we check a persona is right?
Look at students who dropped out and note the country, the funding plan and who was involved. Ask a few politely why they stopped. If the persona does not describe them, rewrite the card.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
