Freight and transport companies · Buyer persona

Know which person at a shipper books the truck and what each one worries about.

A buyer persona for a transport company is a plain description of one kind of person who books or approves a load, written from how they actually buy. GullySales works with the owner to write down the dispatch manager, the purchase head, the small trader, the forwarder and the staff transport buyer, so every call and every page speaks to the right one.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For freight and transport companies

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The dispatch desk and the purchase desk want different things”

In a plant, the dispatch manager cares whether the truck is at the gate when promised. The purchase team negotiates the rate per trip. A pitch built only on price reaches one of them, and the other decides whether you stay on the panel after the first load.

  • “The small trader books by phone and remembers who answered”

A distributor or trader books through a broker, a transport nagar or a search for part-load service between two cities. They compare rates, but they also remember the carrier who picked up the phone and sent the lorry receipt without being asked.

  • “The tender buyer reads documents, not slogans”

Staff bus, school transport and tanker contracts are bought by an admin or operations head working through a checklist of vehicle age, driver records, permits and insurance. The person signing is protecting themselves from an incident, so a clean file answers the real question.

  • “The forwarder and the warehouse operator buy on behalf of others”

A freight forwarder or customs broker needs a road carrier to a port or an ICD and hands the job to a transporter already trusted. A 3PL needs the same for inbound and outbound loads. Each is a repeat buyer with a private panel, not a rival for the shipper.

What we do

What we deliver for freight and transport companies.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. One persona sheet per buying role

A page each for the plant logistics manager, the purchase head, the small trader, the forwarder and the staff transport buyer, covering what they ask first, what they check and what makes them drop a carrier.

Result: Whoever quotes or calls knows which kind of buyer is on the line.

  2. Lane and buyer map

For each of your main lanes, a note on which kind of shipper loads there and which role in that business books the truck.

Result: Every lane on your sheet has a named buyer type beside it.

  3. Objection notes for each role

The doubts a logistics manager, a trader or a tender committee raises, written next to the facts about your fleet, tracking and claims record that answer them.

Result: The owner has a ready, truthful reply to the doubts that come up on calls.

  4. Wording for the profile, website and calls

Short pieces of copy in the words each buyer uses, such as lane, vehicle type, placement and lorry receipt, instead of general talk about quality service.

Result: A buyer reading your profile sees their own problem described.

  5. Review of past quotes by buyer type

A sit-down with the owner over quotations won and lost, sorted by who the buyer was, to see which kind of shipper you win and which you chase in vain.

Result: You can see which buyer type deserves the next round of calls.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

We already know our customers. Why write personas?
The owner knows them in their head, but the dispatcher, the sales caller and any new hire do not. Writing the buyer down lets everyone speak to the right person the same way.
How many personas does a transport company need?
One for each role that books or approves a load in the kinds of business you serve. A fleet that moves only factory loads may need two or three. One that also runs staff buses needs a separate sheet for that buyer.
Do we need survey data to build them?
No. The sheets come from your own quotations, the questions shippers ask on calls and the documents procurement teams request. Where something is not known yet, the sheet says so and the owner fills it after the next few conversations.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
