Import-export trading companies · Buyer persona

Describe each type of buyer and supplier you deal with before writing the next quote.

A buyer persona for a trading company is a written profile of a type of importer or supplier: what they buy, how they decide and what worries them. GullySales builds these profiles from your past enquiries and shipments, and uses them to write quotes and messages.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For import-export trading companies

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “An importer, a distributor and a retail chain buy differently”

An importer who resells to shops wants a low landed price and steady supply. A distributor wants a range and credit terms. A retail chain wants a label, a certificate and a fixed spec. One pitch does not fit all three, and the persona says which fits whom.

  • “The person who enquires is not always the person who approves”

A young executive sends the first message, and a director abroad decides. A quote written only for the executive may lack what the director needs. Profiles should name both roles and what each looks at before agreeing.

  • “Suppliers have personas too”

A large mill, a small factory and an artisan cluster each want something different. One values firm volume, another prompt payment, another a design brief that does not change. A trader who knows this gets better terms and fewer late changes.

  • “Repeat buyers and one-time buyers need separate handling”

A buyer who reorders needs a smooth reorder route and a note on past specs. A buyer who asked once may need a different question to restart the conversation. Your records can tell which is which if the persona fields are filled in.

What we do

What we deliver for import-export trading companies.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Profiles of your main buyer types

One page for each type of importer, distributor or retailer you sell to, with what they buy and what they check.

Result: You can read a profile and know how to write to that buyer.

  2. Supplier profiles

One page for each type of factory or mill you buy from, with what they value and what has gone wrong before.

Result: The team knows how to approach each kind of supplier.

  3. Decision roles map

A short chart of who enquires, who approves and who pays in a typical buyer, and what each wants to see.

Result: Quotes address the right reader.

  4. Objection list

The doubts buyers raise, such as quality, payment risk and delivery, with the reply you use for each.

Result: Replies stay consistent between people.

  5. Persona fields on the buyer record

A field on each contact naming the type of buyer it matches.

Result: You can filter the buyer list by type.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Where does the information come from?
From your own invoices, enquiries, WhatsApp threads and shipment files. We read them with you, and the profile is what you recognise as true. Nothing is taken from outside sources and presented as fact about your buyers.
How many personas do we need?
One for each type of buyer or supplier that behaves differently. A trading firm ends up with a handful of profiles. If two profiles read the same, merge them.
Do personas replace talking to the buyer?
No. A profile is a starting point for the first message. The buyer's actual reply corrects it, and the profile should be updated when it does.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
