Digital publishing companies · WhatsApp marketing

Use WhatsApp to deliver stories to readers and to answer sponsors.

WhatsApp marketing for a digital publisher covers two uses: a channel or broadcast that carries your stories to readers, and a business number through which sponsors and agencies ask about rates. Both depend on consent and on a clear voice. GullySales plans the set-up, the message formats and the handover to your team.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What WhatsApp marketing means

WhatsApp marketing is sending updates, offers and reminders to customers on the app most Indian buyers already check daily. GullySales sets up business WhatsApp, writes the message templates and keeps the list consented and current.

For digital publishing companies

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Your stories already travel through WhatsApp without you”

Readers forward links into family, office and community groups. The publisher sees a visit from an unknown source and nothing more. A channel you run lets the same readers receive your headlines directly and gives you a place to ask them to join the newsletter.

  • “A broadcast without consent damages the list”

Adding people to a group or list who have not asked to be there invites blocks and reports. Offer the channel on the site, in the newsletter and at the foot of articles, and keep a record of how each person joined. Check the platform's current rules before you send.

  • “Sponsors message you like a customer”

An agency planner or a small brand owner may find it easier to ask for rates on WhatsApp than to fill in a form. A business number with a saved reply, a link to the media kit and a named person to answer turns that habit into a lead route.

  • “A sponsored message needs the same label as a sponsored article”

If you sell a slot on your channel, readers should see that it is paid. Decide the wording, the placement and the number of paid items in a week of posts, so the channel stays a place readers want to stay in.

What we do

What we deliver for digital publishing companies.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Channel and number set-up plan

Which channel, group or business number does which job, with names, descriptions and who administers each.

Result: A written set-up with each WhatsApp surface assigned a purpose.

  2. Reader join prompts

Wording and placement for inviting readers to the channel from articles, the newsletter and the site header.

Result: Join prompts added to the pages with the highest traffic.

  3. Message formats for the channel

Templates for a headline alert, a longer read, a poll and a clearly marked sponsored message.

Result: A small set of formats the desk can post without rewriting each time.

  4. Sponsor enquiry replies

Saved replies for rate requests, media kit requests and booking questions on the business number.

Result: A set of replies your seller can send within the app.

  5. Consent and opt-out record

A simple record of how each reader joined and how to leave, kept with your list.

Result: A register that shows source and date of joining for every broadcast contact.

How the result is measured

  • Messages delivered
  • Reply rate
  • Enquiries from WhatsApp

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

How the whatsapp marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Understand current WhatsApp use

We review how customers currently message you and how consistently, if at all, it is answered.

  2. 2

    Audit common questions

We identify the questions that come up repeatedly, which decide what should be automated first.

  3. 3

    Set up automation and templates

An automated first response and quick reply templates are built for the most common needs.

  4. 4

    Connect to the CRM

Conversations are linked to customer records so context carries over between team members.

  5. 5

    Measure and optimise

We track response time and conversion, refining automated responses based on what customers actually ask.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Is a WhatsApp channel better than a broadcast list?
They work differently. A channel is public and one-way, a broadcast list reaches saved contacts who have saved your number. Check the platform's current rules and features, then choose by who you want to reach and how.
Can we sell sponsor slots on our WhatsApp channel?
You can offer them, with a clear label and a limit on how many paid items run. Brands will ask for reach figures, so describe only what the platform shows you and do not estimate.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
