Hold the date and the advance before the family moves on to the next photographer.
A bride's uncle in Mysuru has a hall booked for February and a list of four photographers from cousins and Instagram. Sunday's call goes to voicemail, so the uncle moves to the next name. The photographer who calls back by evening with a link to a full wedding in the same hall, and asks about the muhurtham time, is the one remembered.
Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

In one paragraph
A wedding photographer covers the ceremonies and functions of a wedding and delivers edited photographs and an album. Families book months ahead, on trust in a portfolio. Marketing puts real weddings in front of them at the moment they shortlist. GullySales prepares the gallery pages, the quote that explains the team and the date-hold message.
Weddings are fixed to a date and a family. A photographer can take only so many, and the best dates go first. The enquiry decides the whole year, so the reply, the portfolio and the follow-up carry the weight.

How buyers decide
How wedding photographers are chosen.
The decision is made by more than the couple. Parents, an uncle who pays, and the planner all have a say, and each looks at something different. The bride looks at the style of pictures, the father at the price and the advance, and the planner at whether the team is dependable on the day.
People find photographers through Instagram, WedMeGood and WeddingWire, a planner or a venue's list, and the last wedding they attended. They ask for full galleries rather than best-of pictures, because they want to see whether the photographer caught the elders, the rituals and the small moments as well as the couple.
Rates are discussed openly, but the sale is made on trust. Whether the photographer will be present in person, how many people will be on the team, how photographs are delivered and when the album is ready are questions buyers ask early. Customs differ by community and region, and a photographer who knows the rituals wins over one who does not.
The problem
What usually goes wrong for wedding photographers.
What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.
“Enquiries come in a rush during the season and slip away”
Three calls on a shoot day go to voicemail and the family books whoever answered.
“Our Instagram shows highlights, but families want whole weddings”
A father cannot judge us from ten stylish pictures and a reel.
“Price comes up first and we lose to the cheaper team”
We quote a number and do not explain who will be there, how many cameras and what the album includes.
“We lose dates to people who took a week to decide”
Without a clear holding advance, we keep a date open for a family that never confirms.
“Planners and venues forget to recommend us”
We shoot a wedding at a hall and never ask the manager or planner to mention us again.
“Off-season months are empty”
After February we have little to do until the autumn, and pre-wedding, engagement and anniversary shoots are not asked for.
What we do

Reviews and referrals from last season
A short, polite request to every couple after delivery, asking for a review and an introduction to a friend.

- Reply time to a first enquiry
- Quotes sent against dates held
- Dates held against advances paid
- Bookings from planners and venues
- Reviews and referrals collected after delivery
Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works
How the work runs for wedding photographers
The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.
- 1
Read last season
Last season's enquiries are laid out: who booked, who did not, where each came from and how each call was answered.
- 2
Record the baseline
Enquiries by source, quotes sent and dates booked, written down before anything changes.
- 3
Build the galleries and the quote
Full weddings are arranged into galleries with the couples' permission, and a quote that explains your team is written.
- 4
Set the reply and the follow-up
A reply template and a date-hold rule are handed over for your own phone and calendar.
- 5
Build the planner network
Outreach to planners and venues begins, and results are read against the starting picture.
Where this fits
Three pieces of sales work, in this order.
GullySales builds every engagement from three pieces of sales work. This page is not one of them, but the same three steps apply to the business behind it.
Step 1
Sales audit
Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.
Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.
Step 2
Sales process design
One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.
Start here if every salesperson sells differently.
Step 3
Sales management
A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.
Start here if the team has targets and no routine.
