FinTech startups · WhatsApp marketing

Use WhatsApp to answer a merchant's money question in the language they speak.

WhatsApp marketing for a FinTech startup is using the app to answer questions, guide onboarding and keep in touch with merchants who prefer a chat to a call. It must be permission-based and clear about who is writing. GullySales sets up the flows, templates and records.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What WhatsApp marketing means

WhatsApp marketing is sending updates, offers and reminders to customers on the app most Indian buyers already check daily. GullySales sets up business WhatsApp, writes the message templates and keeps the list consented and current.

For FinTech startups

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The merchant lives on WhatsApp”

A shopkeeper runs orders, suppliers and customers on the app. A message there is read, while an email is not. That makes it the natural place for onboarding help.

  • “An unknown number asking about money looks like fraud”

A message from an unfamiliar number about KYC resembles a scam. The business profile, a known name and a prior request to be contacted decide whether the owner replies.

  • “Documents travel on chat”

Owners will send a photo of a document over WhatsApp before they upload it in an app. The team needs a rule for what may be received, where it is stored and how it is deleted.

  • “Replies must match the product”

A chat promise about a limit or a charge becomes a screenshot. An agent writing freely creates the same problem as one speaking freely. A reply bank keeps the answers consistent.

What we do

What we deliver for FinTech startups.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A business profile and number plan

Set-up of the official business account, name, description and which number does what.

Result: A profile a careful owner recognises as genuine.

  2. Approved message templates

Templates for acknowledgement, reminder and status change, written in the owner's language.

Result: A set of templates ready for review under the platform's rules.

  3. An onboarding chat flow

A guided conversation that explains each step and hands over to a person when needed.

Result: A flow that answers the routine doubts and escalates the rest.

  4. A reply bank for the team

Approved answers for questions on charges, limits and safety, checked against the product.

Result: Everyone answers the same way.

  5. A document handling note

Written rules for what is requested on chat, how it is stored and when it is removed.

Result: A note your compliance adviser has reviewed.

How the result is measured

  • Messages delivered
  • Reply rate
  • Enquiries from WhatsApp

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to capture or send

The WhatsApp messages and rules a money product needs before a merchant writes.

Verified business profile
The brand name, the logo and the partner entity in the description, so a merchant sees who is writing before replying.
Templates for stage prompts
Approved templates for the document stage and the bank link stage, written in plain words in the merchant's language.
Reply to is my money safe
A saved reply naming the partner entity and the grievance route, approved by compliance and used by every team member.
KYC document handling note
A rule on what may arrive by chat, what must go through the app, and where files are deleted.
Opt-in capture
The step at which a prospect agrees to chat, with the wording and the date stored on the record.

Who it is for

This is written for these FinTech startups.

  • Payment gateway and UPI collection startups for small merchants
  • Digital lending and credit-line startups working with an NBFC or bank partner
  • Accounting, invoicing and bill-payment tools for MSMEs
  • Expense, payout and corporate-card startups for finance teams
  • Wealth and investing app startups working under a licensed entity
  • Neobanking and salary-account startups for gig and blue-collar workers
  • Remittance and cross-border payment startups for exporters
  • Regtech and KYC infrastructure startups selling to banks

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Compliance has not decided whether KYC documents may travel on chat, so the channel would break your own data rules
  • No one reads and answers messages in the languages your merchants use

How it works

How the whatsapp marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

Read the chats you already have

We read how customers write to you, which questions repeat and where a chat goes quiet. The repeated questions decide what gets automated first.

  2. 2

Sort the list and the permission

Contacts who asked to hear from you are separated from numbers that only sit in a phone book. We agree the wording new contacts will see before they say yes.

  3. 3

Choose the app or the API

One phone and a small team can stay on the ordinary app. Several people on one number, templates or a CRM link need the API through a provider, which is its own piece of setup work.

  4. 4

Write the replies and the plan

The greeting, away message, saved replies and handover rule are written in your words and approved by you. The message plan and its templates follow.

  5. 5

    Connect the record and test

Each link carries its source line and each chat lands in the CRM. We test on real phones, including a customer who asks for a person.

  6. 6

    Read the unanswered questions

A question the first reply could not answer becomes a new saved reply or a fixed handover. Stop requests are watched too, with the number's quality rating where the API is used, since both show a message plan that has gone too far.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can we send bulk WhatsApp messages?
Only to people who agreed to hear from you, and under the platform's current rules, which you should check. Cold bulk sending risks the number and the trust. GullySales builds the consent record first.
Is WhatsApp safe for sharing KYC documents?
Treat it with care. Rules on personal and financial data differ, so have your adviser decide what may be collected on chat and what must go through the app.
Should a bot or a person reply?
Use a flow for routine questions and a person for money disputes and anything unclear. A bot that cannot hand over to a human frustrates a worried owner.
A merchant sent a photo of a card on WhatsApp. What should the team do?
Do not use it. Reply asking the merchant to delete the message and use the app, and report it to the person in charge of data. Card details on chat can be misused, so the saved reply explains where to enter them instead.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
