Tax consulting firms · Reputation management

You cannot answer a public complaint without confirming who the client is.

Reputation for a tax firm is awkward: clients will not discuss their tax matter in public, and you cannot answer a complaint without confirming a confidential relationship. GullySales agrees with your partner what may be asked for and said, then sets the routine and the replies around that.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What reputation management means

Reputation management is watching what is said about your business across Google, social media and review sites, and responding to it before it changes a buyer's mind. GullySales monitors mentions, drafts responses to negative reviews and flags recurring complaints back to your team.

Last updated 5 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.

For tax consulting firms

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Whether you may ask for a review is not settled”

Rules on solicitation and on testimonials differ by professional body and are revised, and the registration at stake belongs to your partner.

  • “Most complaints are about a penalty the client caused”

The documents arrived in the last week, the interest ran anyway, and the review says the firm was careless.

  • “A partner's name is searched separately from the firm's”

Someone who was given a name looks up the person, not the trade name painted on the board.

What we do

What we deliver for tax consulting firms.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. What may be asked and said, written down first

The position agreed with your partner on reviews, testimonials and public replies, recorded before anything is requested from a client.

Result: Nobody on the team has to guess.

  2. Replies that never confirm a client relationship

Short public responses giving a number and an offer to discuss privately, without acknowledging who the writer is or what was filed.

Result: You answer without breaching a confidence.

  3. Listing and directory details corrected

Firm name exactly as registered, the address down to the floor, hours including the Saturdays you sit through in July, and the partners named as permitted.

Result: A caller reaches the right office at the right time.

  4. Alerts on the firm name and on each partner

Watches on the trade name, every partner's name and the common misspellings, so a public post is found before a client mentions it.

Result: You hear about it before a client does.

  5. A private feedback route after each season

A short question sent once a client's filing is closed, going to the partner rather than onto a public page.

Result: The complaint reaches you instead of a review.

  6. Reviews and ratings reported

New reviews, the rating and what each one was actually about, read against where the listing stood before any of this began.

Result: You can see whether the seasons are ending well.

How the result is measured

  • Average rating
  • Response time to reviews
  • Negative mentions resolved

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to do with each review

How to answer each kind of review a tax consulting firm gets.

Praise from a client
Thank them without confirming any work. Say you are glad they found the experience clear. Never write that you filed or handled something for them. Their tax matter is theirs to describe.
Fee dispute in filing season
Point to the signed engagement letter and invite a call. Check that every letter lists the services included, what is extra, and when fees fall due, before any filing begins.
Missed due date or late reply to a notice
Do not discuss a case in public. Say you take deadlines seriously and invite them to call the partner. Inside, check that each client has an owner and a diary date for every due date.
Refund taking long
Say that refund timing depends on the department and not on the firm, in general terms. Call the client and explain the status privately. Check that you told them at the start that refund timing is outside your control.
Review from someone who was not a client
Say you cannot discuss anyone's matters in public and cannot confirm whether the person is a client. Invite them to write privately with details. Report it if it breaks the platform's rules.
Rudeness during the rush
Apologise without naming staff. Check how queries are taken in busy weeks. A single phone that nobody owns is the usual cause.

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is reply time, a follow-up sequence, the page buyers land on or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the reputation management work runs

  1. 1

    Understand current perception

We start by actually searching your business name and reviewing what a stranger would currently see.

  2. 2

    Audit existing mentions

We catalogue reviews, mentions and search results, flagging anything negative or inaccurate.

  3. 3

    Plan responses

A calm, factual response is prepared for anything that needs one, agreed with you before posting.

  4. 4

    Implement monitoring

Ongoing checks are set up so new mentions are caught promptly rather than discovered by accident.

  5. 5

    Measure and report

Sentiment and response times are reported, with your business name searched again to see what has moved.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Can we ask clients for Google reviews?
Ask your institute or council before you ask a client. The rules on soliciting work and on testimonials differ by body and are revised, and the certificate of practice at risk is yours. We write the ask only once your firm has settled its position.
A client posted that we caused a penalty. Can we explain what happened?
Not in public. Replying with dates and documents confirms he is a client and puts his affairs on a web page. Answer with a number and an offer to talk, then sort it offline.
Can we thank a client publicly by name?
Not first. A reply that names a client confirms the relationship. Thank the reviewer in general words, as they posted it themselves. If a client has agreed in writing, you can name them in your own material, never in a reply.
Should the partner or an executive reply to reviews?
The partner should approve each reply, since a careless sentence can disclose a client matter. An executive may draft it. Keep to one named account, the same wording for the same kind of complaint, and keep a copy of what was said.
Do we need to advertise?
Not at first. A page that explains a GST notice reaches the owner who is searching for it today, with no media spend. Paid search helps for a short push, such as the fortnight before the July income tax deadline.
We are chartered accountants. Are we even allowed to market the firm?
Within limits. ICAI's Code of Ethics restricts how a CA in practice can advertise or solicit clients, and ICAI publishes guidelines on what a firm website may carry. We write explanatory pages inside those limits, with no claims of superiority, and your partner checks the copy before it goes live.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
