Furniture stores and retailers · Buyer persona

Write differently for the first-home buyer and the designer's client.

A buyer persona for a furniture store separates a first-time buyer choosing on budget from a designer-led client choosing on style. GullySales builds these personas from your own sales records, not assumptions about who buys furniture.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For furniture stores and retailers

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The first-home buyer compares on price and timing”

This buyer wants a clear price range and a realistic delivery date more than styling detail.

  • “The designer-led client decides through a third party”

This buyer's decision often runs through their interior designer, who needs trade pricing and quick technical answers.

  • “The corporate buyer wants a quote and a contract”

An office furniture buyer wants a bulk quote and one point of contact, not a showroom experience.

What we do

What we deliver for furniture stores and retailers.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Three buyer profiles from your own sales records

Profiles for the first-home buyer, the designer-led client and the corporate buyer, built from your actual past orders, not assumptions.

Result: Staff recognise which buyer they are speaking to early.

  2. Messaging matched to each buyer type

Separate talking points and content angles for a price-led first-home buyer against a style-led designer client.

Result: Each buyer type hears the message that actually matters to them.

  3. Designer and corporate enquiry paths

A distinct enquiry path for a designer requesting trade pricing and a corporate buyer requesting a bulk quote.

Result: A designer or office buyer gets the specific answer they need.

  4. Staff prompt questions for early identification

A short set of opening questions for showroom and phone staff to identify which buyer type they are speaking to.

Result: The right approach starts from the first question asked.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

A persona card for this customer

Here is a typical card for the couple replacing a worn sofa in a home they own.

An example, not a fact about your customers. Compare each line with your invoices and showroom notes, and change what does not fit.

Who they are
Typical: a couple whose sofa has worn out after years of use. They know the room size and the budget. Check against your sofa invoices for replacement buyers.
What starts the search
Typical: a guest visit, a repainted wall or a seat that has sagged. Ask at the showroom what happened just before they walked in.
What worries them
Typical: a sofa that will not fit through the door or the lift, and fabric that fades. Ask your delivery team which complaints they hear most.
What they compare you with
Typical: a big chain showroom in the mall, a made-to-order carpenter and a price on an online site. Ask which pieces they photographed elsewhere.
Who else decides
Typical: one partner picks the style and the other measures and pays, and a mother may join by video call. Send photographs and measured sketches to whoever is absent.
What makes them say yes
Typical: a fabric swatch to take home, a delivery note that mentions the staircase and a price with the cover included. Ask who took a swatch and then bought.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Do we need personas for a single showroom?
Yes, even one location usually serves distinct buyer types who respond to different messaging.
How does this change our sales approach?
Staff learn to ask early questions that reveal which buyer type they are speaking to.
How do we check a persona with walk-ins we never record?
Start recording, lightly. Give floor staff a small note with three prompts: which room, who came with them and what they are replacing. A short pile of such notes is enough to compare with the card. Ask for a phone number only if the customer is happy to give one.
Can the card decide what we show in the shop window and on WhatsApp?
It can. The replacement buyer responds to a room photograph with the fabric and dimensions shown, while a first-home buyer wants a complete set priced together. Show each in the format that answers the persona's main worry, and keep the card where the staff who post can read it.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
