Optical businesses · Buyer persona

Know who is behind the frame before you plan the eye test offer.

A buyer persona for an optical shop is a written profile of one kind of customer: what brought them in, who decides, and what they compare you against. GullySales builds those profiles from your own walk-ins, calls and prescription records, so the shop speaks to each customer in terms they recognise.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For optical businesses

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The person wearing the glasses is not always the person paying”

A parent pays for a child's frames, an adult son pays for a parent's progressive lenses, and an employer may fund a staff camp. Each payer weighs price, durability and trust differently, so one shop message addressed to the wearer misses the person holding the wallet.

  • “A first eye test and a repeat purchase are different customers”

Someone who has never needed glasses wants to be told what the test involves and who performs it. A long-time wearer knows their prescription and wants a quick reorder. Sending both the same welcome message wastes the repeat customer's time and under-explains to the new one.

  • “The online comparison happens before the shop visit”

A buyer who has priced a frame on a national website arrives with that number in mind. A persona that records this habit lets the staff answer with the fitting, the optometrist's advice and the after-sales adjustment, instead of reacting to the price alone.

  • “A school contact is not a household contact”

A principal who books a camp cares about timetable, consent forms and parent communication. The families behind that school care about the child's comfort and the cost of frames. Treating the school and the household as one audience loses both.

What we do

What we deliver for optical businesses.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Customer profiles from your own records

Three to five short profiles written from the shop's billing book, prescription register and enquiry calls, each naming the typical reason for the visit and the decision maker.

Result: Staff can name which profile a walk-in matches and open the conversation accordingly.

  2. A payer and wearer map

A one-page note for each profile showing who wears the glasses, who pays, and who advises, such as the family doctor or a teacher.

Result: Messages are addressed to the person who decides, not only the person who wears.

  3. Objection notes for each profile

The questions each profile asks at the counter, such as why a frame costs more than online, with an answer written in the shop's own words.

Result: Counter staff give the same clear answer instead of improvising.

  4. A message set matched to each profile

Short WhatsApp and listing text for a first-time tester, a lens reorder customer and a parent, each speaking to that profile's concern.

Result: Each message can be traced to a profile written down in advance.

  5. A profile field in the customer record

A simple tag added to each customer entry so reminders and offers can be sent by profile.

Result: You can filter the customer list by profile and see who has not been contacted.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

We only have a small shop. Do we need personas at all?
A small shop benefits as much as a chain, because the owner already knows the customers. Writing it down lets new staff serve a family the way you would, and lets any message you send fit the person receiving it.
Where does the information for a persona come from?
From your own billing records, prescription register, call notes and what staff hear at the counter. We do not invent customers or use figures from elsewhere. We ask your team what they see and write it down.
Should a persona include a person's eyesight details?
No. Keep the profile about behaviour and reasons for visiting, not medical details. Prescription information stays in the clinical record, handled according to your optometrist's practice and your own adviser's guidance on data.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
