Cart recovery and checkout optimisation · Marketing

Win back the orders your store has already paid to attract.

Every shopper who reaches your cart has already cost you money, through an ad click, a search visit or an influencer post. When that shopper leaves at the cart or the payment step, the spend is gone with nothing to show for it. Cart recovery and checkout work goes after that gap from two sides.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

Developers reviewing online checkout and application code

In one paragraph

Cart recovery and checkout optimisation brings back shoppers who added products and left, and removes the friction that made them leave. GullySales plans abandoned-cart emails and WhatsApp messages, reviews the checkout path, and sets up post-purchase messages for Indian online stores.

The first side is messages. A shopper who left a cart can be reminded by email or on WhatsApp, if they gave permission to be contacted. The second side is the checkout itself: the number of steps it has, how it handles UPI, cards and cash on delivery, and how it behaves on a phone. A reminder cannot fix a checkout that loses people before they pay.

This differs from the general conversion rate optimisation service, which tests whole pages across a site. It also differs from email marketing and WhatsApp marketing as channels. Here the work is built around one moment, the unfinished order, and the messages that follow a finished one.

The problem

Does this sound like your business?

What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.

  • “Shoppers leave at the cart and nobody follows up”

A shopper who left with products in the cart gets no reminder, so the ad spend that brought them in produces nothing.

  • “The checkout loses people before they pay”

Forced account creation, extra form fields, slow pages and missing payment options push shoppers out at the last step.

  • “Reminders go out with no permission or no plan”

Messages are sent to people who never agreed to receive them, or all at once with the same wording, which wastes goodwill.

  • “The relationship stops after the order”

Order confirmation is the only message a buyer gets, so there is no review request, no help with the product and no reason to return.

What we do

Everything that is included.

Each deliverable, and what it gets you. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Checkout path review

A walk through your cart and checkout on a phone and a desktop, noting steps, fields, payment options and points where shoppers are likely to stop.

  2. Abandoned-cart email plan

The messages, wording and rules for emailing shoppers who left a cart, written in your brand's voice.

  3. WhatsApp recovery plan

A plan for reminding shoppers on WhatsApp where they have agreed to it, built on the platform's current rules and your existing set-up.

  4. Consent and message rules

How permission is collected and recorded, and how shoppers opt out, set against the current Indian rules and the platform's rules for each channel.

  5. Post-purchase messages

Order updates, usage help, review requests and repeat-purchase reminders that follow a completed order.

  6. Tracking and measurement set-up

Cart, checkout and order events recorded so recovered orders can be told apart from orders that would have happened anyway.

How the result is measured

  • Cart-to-order completion rate before and after
  • Orders attributed to recovery messages
  • Checkout completion on mobile and on desktop
  • Opt-outs and complaints per message sent
  • Repeat orders from buyers who received post-purchase messages

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Who it is for

This is written for you if these sound familiar.

  • Online stores that see shoppers add products to the cart and not complete the order
  • D2C brands paying for traffic and wanting more orders from the visits they already get
  • Stores with a checkout that feels long or confusing on a phone
  • Owners who send no message after an order and treat the sale as the end of the relationship
  • Stores that sell with cash on delivery and want to understand where prepaid orders drop off

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Businesses with no online store or no way to buy on the website
  • Stores with no way to record a shopper's contact details and consent, because there is nobody to message
  • Stores whose main problem is that too few people reach the cart, where traffic and product pages come first

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the work runs

  1. 1

    Send the requirements brief

You tell us about your store, platform, payment options, customer list and goals. We read it and talk to you before anything is proposed.

  2. 2

Agree scope and fee in writing

Scope and fee are sent in writing after the brief, covering the channels, the checkout work and who builds what.

  3. 3

Review the checkout and the data

We study where shoppers stop, what contact details and permissions you hold, and which tools your store already uses.

  4. 4

Build the recovery and post-purchase messages

Messages, rules and consent handling are written and set up with you, then checked on test orders before real shoppers receive them.

  5. 5

    Measure and adjust

Recovered orders and checkout completion are read against the baseline recorded at the start, and wording and steps are changed from what the records show.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

Engagement options

Ways to work with us.

Pick the size of commitment that fits. Every option starts with your brief and a conversation.

  1. Option 1

    The conversation on its own

A call after you send your brief. It says honestly whether you need outside help, and many fixes are ones your own team can make.

  2. Option 2

    One fix, scoped

Start with the fix that matters most, such as reply time or follow-up. The fee is in writing before anything starts.

  3. Option 3

    An ongoing programme

We run the work, report against the baseline, and you renew on the numbers. The term and the reporting are agreed in writing first.

  4. Option 4

Guidance for your own team or agency

We plan, brief and check the work of your in-house team or current agency, instead of replacing them.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can we message every shopper who left a cart?
Only those who have agreed to be contacted on that channel. Consent rules differ for email and WhatsApp, and they change, so check the platform's current rules and the current Indian requirements. We build consent capture into the plan.
Do we need a particular store platform?
No. The work depends on what your store records and which tools it connects to. We review this in the requirements brief and say plainly what your set-up allows.
How is this different from email marketing or WhatsApp marketing?
Those services run your channels as a whole. This service is built around the unfinished order and the checkout, and the messages that follow a completed purchase.
Does this replace conversion rate optimisation?
No. Conversion rate optimisation tests pages across the whole site. This service concentrates on the cart, the checkout and the messages around them, and the two sit well together.
What does it cost?
We do not publish a price. After the requirements brief we send the scope and fee in writing, separating our time from any messaging platform charges.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
