Auto repair shops · Sales training

Train the counter staff to explain a quote without sounding defensive.

Sales training for an auto repair shop means preparing counter staff and service advisors to explain a diagnosis and a quote clearly. It also covers handling a price objection honestly and following up on a job that was not booked immediately. GullySales runs this training around the real conversations your team has every day.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What sales training means

Sales training teaches a sales team a skill it does not yet have, such as handling a specific objection or running a proper site visit, usually through a structured session. GullySales runs these sessions around real objections and calls from your business rather than generic sales theory.

For auto repair shops

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Explaining a diagnosis builds more trust than a lower price”

A customer who understands why a part needs replacing, in plain language, is more likely to approve the work than one simply given a number and a part name.

  • “Price objections need a calm, specific answer”

A trained response comparing genuine and after-market parts, or explaining labour involved, handles a price objection better than a discount offered too quickly.

  • “Follow-up on an unbooked quote is a trainable habit”

A team trained to call back the next day on a quote that was not booked recovers jobs that would otherwise be lost to silence.

What we do

What we deliver for auto repair shops.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Diagnosis explanation training

Training for counter staff and mechanics on explaining a diagnosis in plain language before quoting a price.

Result: Customers approve work because they understand it, not because they trust blindly.

  2. Price objection response practice

Practised responses comparing genuine and after-market parts or explaining labour, for handling a price objection calmly.

Result: Staff hold a fair price with a clear answer instead of discounting fast.

  3. Follow-up call training for unbooked quotes

Training on calling back the next day for a quote that was not booked immediately.

Result: Jobs that would have gone quiet get recovered instead.

  4. Session plan with periodic refreshers

An initial training session followed by short, scheduled refreshers instead of a single one-time course.

Result: The training actually sticks instead of fading over time.

  5. Role coverage across service advisors and senior mechanics

Training extended to whoever quotes jobs and talks to customers directly, not only the counter staff.

Result: Every customer gets the same clear, confident explanation, whoever they speak to.

How the result is measured

  • Skill assessment scores
  • Objection handling improvement
  • Conversion rate after training

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Situations to practise

Six counter conversations an auto repair shop should practise, and what good looks like.

The customer says another garage quoted less
Ask what the other quote included: parts brand, labour, washing, warranty. Compare line by line. Practise doing this without running the other garage down.
Explaining a diagnosis at the counter
Show the worn part or a photo of it. Say what you found, why it matters, and what can wait till the next service. Practise these three sentences with a real job card.
The estimate goes up after the vehicle is opened
Call before the extra work starts. Give the part, the reason and the new total, then wait for a yes. Practise the call with the first estimate in front of you.
A phone caller only wants a price
Ask make, model, year, kilometres and the complaint before quoting. Give a range for a service and say what is extra. Invite them to bring the vehicle for a proper look.
An insurance-claim customer does not know the steps
Explain the order in plain words: intimation, survey, estimate approval, repair, delivery. Tell them which documents to bring. Practise it as one short explanation.
An estimate was given and never booked
Call about the specific job, mention any safety item such as brakes or tyres, and ask if they want a slot. Practise with last week's unbooked estimates.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the sales training work runs

  1. 1

    Assess current skill levels

We review the team's current strengths and gaps, by observing calls and talking to managers.

  2. 2

    Build the curriculum

Content is developed around your product, customers and sales cycle.

  3. 3

    Schedule and deliver

Sessions run on a set calendar, with practice built into each one.

  4. 4

    Check understanding

Short knowledge checks confirm what has actually stuck.

  5. 5

    Review and refresh

The curriculum is revisited periodically and refresher sessions are run for the wider team.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Who needs this training?
Whoever quotes jobs and talks to customers directly, usually your service advisor or counter staff, alongside senior mechanics who often explain repairs.
How long does training like this take?
A short initial session followed by periodic refreshers works better than a single long session that is never revisited.
Can our senior mechanics join the role-play, or only the counter staff?
Mechanics who explain faults to customers should join. Their words carry weight, and counter staff often repeat what mechanics say. Pair a mechanic with an advisor and run one real estimate through both sides of the conversation.
How do we check the training changed anything?
Use your own job cards and estimate book. Count estimates given against jobs booked for the advisors trained, and note why each declined estimate was declined. In principle, your own records before and after are enough to see a change.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
