E-commerce · Business, industrial and safety supplies

The safety officer will not approve a glove until someone shows what it is made for.

Safety equipment is bought for a person standing in a particular place doing a particular job. The buyer is rarely the wearer. A safety officer chooses against a hazard, a purchase manager buys against a budget, and a supervisor hears from the workers whether the glove is tolerable. If any of the three says no, the order stalls.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

Selling safety equipment and personal protective equipment online means reaching safety officers, purchase managers, contractors and distributors who order helmets, gloves, footwear, masks and harnesses for a workforce. GullySales builds the product pages around the job each item is made for, the quotation request that carries sizes and counts, and the follow-up on each order.

That makes a product page in this category different. It has to say what the item is made for, what the maker states about it, and what the buyer should check with their own safety adviser. A page that promises protection is a risk to you and to the buyer, and a page with no information is ignored.

Orders are for numbers of people, in sizes, with a delivery to a site on a date. A quotation request that asks only for the product name is useless to a safety desk.

Last updated 7 Oct 2026. Product, labelling and advertising rules for safety & ppe differ by product and change. We describe them in general terms, so check the current position with your own adviser or the regulator before you publish a claim.

Who it is for

This is written for you if you sell safety & ppe online.

  • Distributors of industrial safety equipment who supply plants, contractors and builders
  • Makers and importers of gloves, footwear, helmets or clothing who sell to institutions
  • Dealers who supply a few brands and offer fitting trials and replacement
  • Fire and safety firms that also supply PPE to the sites they service
  • Sellers of uniforms and workwear with a safety range for factories and construction

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Sellers who want to describe an item as protecting against a hazard without the maker's written statement. We will not write that, and the buyer's adviser will ask for it.
  • Retailers selling one or two pieces a month with no institutional buyers. A marketplace listing is enough for that.

How buyers choose

What decides who wins in safety & ppe.

  1. The hazard decides the product

A buyer starts with the job: grinding, welding, working at height, handling chemicals. The safety officer then picks the item, and your page needs to match the product to the job in the buyer's words.

  2. What the maker states

Institutional buyers ask for the maker's data sheet and the marking on the product. A page that carries those, and says that selection is the buyer's decision with their own adviser, is the one they trust.

  3. Size runs and a trial

A plant of two hundred workers needs a spread of sizes in gloves, footwear and clothing. Buyers ask for samples in several sizes and put them on a few workers before ordering.

  4. Brand approval at the site

Many plants and contractors work to an approved list of makes. A distributor is asked whether it supplies a brand on that list, and whether the supply is direct from the maker or an authorised channel.

Where sales are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell safety & ppe online.

In the words sellers use on the first call.

  • “Buyers send 'safety shoes price' and nothing else”

A price for what, in which sizes, for which work? The request should ask the job, the numbers by size and the delivery site, so the quotation can be specific.

  • “The workers reject what the safety officer bought”

Gloves too stiff, shoes too heavy, goggles that fog. Rejected PPE sits in a store. A sample trial with a few workers, before the bulk order, saves a reorder.

  • “We lose to a lookalike at a lower rate”

Buyers worry about cheap copies. A page that states which makes you are authorised to supply, and how a buyer can check the maker's marking, gives the careful buyer a reason to stay.

  • “Orders arrive before a shutdown or an audit and then stop”

PPE demand is lumpy. A shutdown, a new contractor or an internal audit triggers a bulk order, and the account goes quiet afterwards. A record of which site buys what lets you call before the next one.

What we do

What you get for safety & ppe.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A job-to-product guide

A page matching common jobs to items in your range, with a note that the buyer's safety adviser confirms the choice. It gets a new buyer to the right product page.

  2. A size-run order sheet

A downloadable sheet to list people and sizes, which comes back as a complete order. It removes the back-and-forth over missing sizes.

  3. A maker's data sheet library

Data sheets and marking images for each item, in one place. A safety officer can find them without waiting for an email.

  4. A sample and trial record

Who received which sample, which workers tried it and what they said, so the follow-up call has something to ask.

How the result is measured

  • Qualified enquiries
  • Quotation requests
  • Sample trials requested
  • Follow-up on each quotation
  • Orders won
  • Repeat orders by site

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What the work involves for safety & ppe

  1. 1

Audit the range and the enquiry desk

The free audit looks at how a safety officer would find an item, what the page tells them and how a bulk request is answered. The written report ranks what to fix first.

  2. 2

Choose the product lines and the buyer

Gloves, footwear, eye protection and harnesses are bought differently. We pick the line where you hold stock, hold authorisations and can serve a plant well.

  3. 3

Build the pages and the request sheet

Job-based product pages, the maker's data sheets and the size-run order sheet go live for the chosen line, with tracking from the first day.

  4. 4

Set up sample trials and follow-up

Trial records, quotation owners and reorder reminders by site are agreed with your sales and stores teams.

  5. 5

    Measure against the baseline

Enquiries, samples, quotations and orders are compared with the baseline recorded before work starts. The reporting arrangement is agreed in writing after the audit.

  6. 6

    Extend to the next line

What converted decides what we do next. A line that gets enquiries but few orders is reviewed before another is added.

What we need from you

What to have ready before the audit call.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Your range with the maker's data sheets and the makes you are authorised to supply
  • Sizes you stock and the sizes you can source
  • A list of current plants and contractors with what each buys
  • A run of recent quotation requests and what became of them
  • Any approved-make lists a buyer has given you

Selling in India and abroad

Selling safety & ppe beyond your own market.

Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.

  1. Local requirements differ

A buyer in another country follows their own rules for what may be used at work. The page should state what the maker says about each item and leave the local requirement to the buyer and their adviser.

  2. Sizes follow the local build

Glove, footwear and clothing size charts differ between regions. State sizes in the scale you sell in and give a conversion the maker supports.

  3. Start with the countries already asking

Your marketplace and website data show who writes from abroad. Markets and languages are chosen from that.

FAQ

Questions about selling safety & ppe online.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can I say my safety gloves or helmets protect workers?
Not as your own claim. State what the maker says about the item and what it is made for, and tell the buyer that choosing it is their safety adviser's decision. A promise of protection on a page can come back on you.
Do factories buy PPE online?
They find suppliers and check specifications online, then order by quotation. A cart suits small, repeat items such as disposable gloves. Larger orders depend on samples, sizes and a named person to call.
How do I get a plant to switch to my supplier?
Offer a sample trial with a few workers on one shift and record the result. Then ask the safety officer and the purchase head what would need to change. Few plants switch without a trial that the workers approved.
Does being an authorised distributor matter online?
Yes, when you can state it and show it. Buyers worry about copies, and a named authorisation, with the maker's agreement on file, is something they ask for.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
