Banks · Positioning and messaging

Decide whether your bank competes on speed, safety or relationship, not all three.

Positioning and messaging for a bank means choosing one clear, honest reason customers should pick you over a competing bank. Faster loan processing, the safety of a scheduled bank, or a genuinely personal relationship, said consistently. GullySales helps you choose this position based on what is actually true and defensible.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What positioning and messaging means

Positioning and messaging is deciding what your business says it does best and to whom. This way, every page and advert makes the same claim instead of a different one each time. GullySales sets this in one line and checks that your website, adverts and sales conversations all repeat it.

For banks

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “A vague position that claims everything convinces nobody of anything”

A message claiming to be the fastest, safest and most personal bank all at once reads as generic. A clear focus on the one strength that is actually true and provable builds real credibility.

  • “Different branches may need slightly different positioning”

A branch in a business district might credibly lead with fast MSME loan processing. A residential branch might lead with personal relationship and doorstep service instead, and forcing identical messaging across both weakens each.

  • “Positioning should be provable in the actual customer experience”

Claiming fast service only works if the branch's actual reply times and processing speed support it. A mismatch between message and experience damages trust faster than no message at all.

What we do

What we deliver for banks.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. One chosen, defensible position

A single position, such as faster loan processing or a genuinely personal relationship, chosen because it is actually true and provable.

Result: Customers hear one clear reason to choose you, not three vague ones.

  2. Branch-specific positioning variants

A different lead message for a business-district branch against a residential branch, reflecting what each can credibly claim.

Result: Each branch leads with the strength that is actually true for it.

  3. Experience check against the claim

A check that actual reply times and processing speed support any claim of being fast, before the message goes out.

Result: The message never says something the branch experience contradicts.

  4. Positioning consistency with the national brand

A local message that stays consistent with the bank's national position while emphasising the locally relevant strength.

Result: The local message fits inside the bigger brand, not against it.

How the result is measured

  • Message consistency across channels
  • Recall in customer conversations
  • Enquiry quality against the stated position

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Tests for a bank position

Run your chosen position through these before it appears on a poster or a reply script.

One sentence
Write the position as one sentence a customer could repeat to a neighbour. If it needs 'and' more than once, you have chosen two positions.
Proof in the branch
List what a customer would see that proves it: the sanction process staff actually follow, a named manager who answers, the standing of a scheduled bank. If nothing can be shown, drop the claim.
Compliance check
Check the line against the bank's advertising and disclosure rules with compliance. Words such as best or fastest need evidence, or should be left out.
Staff test
Ask counter staff and the loan desk to say it in their own words. If they say different things, the message is not ready.
Rival test
Say the line aloud next to a rival's. If the rival could say the same, it is not a position.
Local variant
Decide what a branch may change, such as the example or the language, and what stays in head office wording.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the positioning and messaging work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current position

We start with how your team currently describes the business, and how customers actually describe it back.

  2. 2

    Audit the competitive set

We review how your closest competitors present themselves, to find where you overlap and where you can stand apart.

  3. 3

    Strategise the position

A clear, honest positioning statement is drafted and tested against your team's own view of the business.

  4. 4

    Build the messaging

Key messages are written for your main audiences, ready to use across channels.

  5. 5

    Roll out and check

We identify where the new messaging should replace the old, and check it is applied consistently.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How do we choose our positioning?
Based on what is genuinely true and provable about your service, checked against what customers in your area actually value, which we help identify.
Should this differ from the bank's national brand position?
It should stay consistent with it while emphasising the local strength that is most relevant and true for your specific branch or region.
Can we position on speed if our branch is slower than a competitor?
Not until the process is fixed. A claim the first customer disproves does more harm than silence. Choose the position you can already prove, such as the bank that answers the phone or has a named manager, and work on speed separately.
How do we carry the position into everyday messages?
Use it in the Google profile description, the first line of replies, the loan desk script, posters and the welcome kit. Write a short guide of what to say and avoid, and check a sample of real messages against it. Start where customers first meet you.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
