Gold loan and NBFC lenders · Customer retention

A borrower who released the gold cleanly is the easiest pledge to win back.

Customer retention for a gold loan or NBFC lender means borrowers renew on time, return when they next need cash and stay when a rival offers a takeover. GullySales works it out from your pledge register and loan system, then sets up the calls that bring closed borrowers back.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What customer retention means

Customer retention is keeping an existing customer buying again rather than losing them to a competitor after the first purchase, usually cheaper than winning a new customer. GullySales sets a routine of check-ins and renewal reminders aimed at customers before they show signs of leaving.

For gold loan and NBFC lenders

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Closure is treated as the end”

The release counter hands back the ornaments and the file closes. Nobody asks when the borrower expects to need money again, though the answer is a season everyone in the town knows.

  • “Top-up eligibility goes unmentioned”

When the gold price rises, a borrower's pledged ornaments may support a larger loan. A branch that never says so leaves room for a takeover offer that does.

  • “An auction loses the family, not just the loan”

A loan that reaches auction ends the relationship with that borrower and with everyone who hears the story. Retention starts with the reminder, long before any notice.

What we do

What we deliver for gold loan and NBFC lenders.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A return list of closed borrowers

Every borrower who closed last season with a clean record, with their branch and the season they borrowed in, ready for a call before that season comes round.

Result: Past borrowers hear from you before they walk past a rival.

  2. A renewal conversation at maturity

What the branch says when a loan reaches maturity: renew, part pay or release, set out plainly in the local language with no pressure.

Result: Renewals happen at the counter, not after a notice.

  3. A top-up check when the gold price rises

A list of active loans where the current value may allow a top-up, for the branch to mention when the borrower next calls or visits, within your lending rules.

Result: Borrowers hear the option from you, not from a competitor.

  4. A conversation before every takeover release

When a borrower asks for the closure amount to move, the branch manager asks why and offers what your rules allow, once.

Result: You learn why borrowers leave, and keep some of them.

  5. Win-back calls from the branch manager

A call from someone the borrower met, not a telecaller, to borrowers absent for two seasons, asking whether anything went wrong.

Result: Lost borrowers tell you why, and some come back.

  6. Retention figures by branch

Renewals, repeat pledges, takeovers lost and loans reaching auction per branch, against the baseline taken before the work starts.

Result: A branch with a leaking book is visible to head office.

How the result is measured

  • Retention rate
  • Repeat purchase rate
  • Customers won back

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Work it out from your records

What a gold loan or NBFC lender can learn from its own pledge register and loan system.

Borrowers who pledged again after closing
List loans closed over the past year. Mark each borrower who has taken a new loan since. The unmarked names with a clean record are your first call list.
Renewed, released or overdue at maturity
For loans that reached maturity, count how many renewed, closed or went overdue, branch by branch. A branch with many overdue maturities needs reminder work before anything else.
Loans that reached the auction stage
List them with the reminders sent and the dates. Where the record shows no call before the notice, fix the routine at that branch first.
Takeovers lost to other lenders
From closure requests, note which borrowers closed to move elsewhere and the reason they gave. Group the reasons and take them to the credit and product team.
Pledges by season and branch
Sort new pledges by the month taken and the branch. The busy months show when the calls to closed borrowers should go out in each region.
Vehicle and business loan borrowers who repaid
List NBFC borrowers who repaid in full and mark those who borrowed again. The rest deserve a call when their dealer's season or their trade's busy period comes round.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the customer retention work runs

  1. 1

    Assess current retention

A first read of current retention rate, existing tactics and where they are or are not coordinated.

  2. 2

    Build the strategy

A written plan developed covering priority segments, touchpoints and a measurable target.

  3. 3

    Align existing tactics

Current retention activities mapped against the strategy and adjusted to work together rather than independently.

  4. 4

    Track toward the target

Retention tracked against the goal, with the strategy adjusted as results come in.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

When does a gold loan borrower count as lapsed?
When they miss the season they borrowed in before, such as sowing or school fees, without pledging. Set the rule branch by branch, since a town branch and a farm-belt branch see different patterns in their registers.
Who should call a borrower who closed and has not come back?
Someone the borrower met, the appraiser or the branch manager. A call-centre voice sounds like sales. The call asks how the last loan went and whether anything bothered them, and the answer goes into the record.
A borrower wants to move their gold to another lender. Can we stop it?
No, and never delay the release. Give the closure amount, ask what the other lender offered and why it appealed, and record it. Offer what your own rules allow, once, and let them go politely if they still want to.
Can we offer returning borrowers a better scheme?
Only as a published scheme your credit team and compliance officer have approved, offered the same way to everyone who qualifies. Quiet discounts at one branch become complaints at the next.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
