Pharmacies · Digital marketing

A chemist's market is two kilometres wide, so plan accordingly.

A pharmacy's whole market is a few roads across, which decides how much marketing is worth buying at all. GullySales repairs the listing and the phone first, sets up ordering on WhatsApp with consent recorded, and puts the rest of the effort into the clinics and care homes nearby.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What digital marketing means

Digital marketing is the combined work of search, social media, advertising and website channels running together rather than as separate projects with separate people. GullySales runs these as one connected system so a change in one channel, such as a new offer, is reflected everywhere at once.

Last updated 17 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.

For pharmacies

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The two things already broken cost you the most”

A listing with the wrong closing time, and a phone nobody answers after seven. Neither costs money to fix and both are losing orders tonight.

  • “The rules decide the plan before the budget does”

What may be said about medicines shapes every channel, so the plan is written around service, devices and delivery from the first line down.

  • “One nursing home is worth more than any campaign”

A care home with forty residents orders every month, on a schedule, and pays against an invoice. That is built by walking in, not by advertising.

  • “An app can match your price but not your pharmacist”

What you have that no platform does is somebody who explains a substitute and spots a duplicated prescription. Build the plan on that.

What we do

What we deliver for pharmacies.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A plan sized to a two-kilometre market

What is worth doing at this radius and what is not, with the money named against each item and a reason written for leaving the rest out.

Result: You stop paying for reach you cannot serve.

  2. The listing and the phone repaired first

Hours, categories, delivery area and a number somebody answers in the evening, corrected before anything at all is spent on advertising.

Result: The free channels start working this week.

  3. WhatsApp set up as the ordering channel

A business number, saved replies, a record of who agreed to be messaged, and a simple way for a customer to stop receiving them.

Result: Regular families order from you directly.

  4. An outreach routine to clinics and care homes

Which clinics, nursing homes, elder care homes and apartment associations to approach, what is offered to each, and who makes the visit.

Result: Institutional orders start arriving on a schedule.

  5. A compliance rule applied to everything published

What may be said and what may not, written down once and applied to the listing, the site, the counter cards and every message.

Result: One rule covers every channel.

  6. One monthly page of orders by channel

Walk-in, phone, chat, delivery and institutional orders counted with reply times, against the figures taken in the first week.

Result: You can see which channel is growing.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries across channels
  • Cost per enquiry overall
  • Channel mix by contribution

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Where to start for a chemist

Start with what your neighbours see when they search for a chemist near them.

Business Profile and phone
Correct the address, the opening hours and the phone number, and state whether you deliver at home. Keep the hours true on public holidays. Record calls and whether each became an order.
WhatsApp as the order desk
Let customers send a photograph of the prescription, with the pharmacist checking it before anything is supplied. Do not promote prescription medicines to the public. Record each order and who sent it.
Regular customer list
For households who buy regularly, note the name, number and the date of their last refill. Call or message when a refill is due, about availability and delivery only.
Clinics and care homes
List the doctors' clinics, nursing homes and care homes within reach. Visit with a note on your supply and delivery, and record who agreed to send orders and who asked for a call.
Reviews on service
Ask customers for honest reviews of the service, such as delivery and availability, and not of any medicine. Never offer anything in return. Reply to complaints and record what was fixed.
What to leave until later
Do not begin with ads for medicines, discount posts or a shop app. Rules on pharmacy promotion are strict and differ by state, so check with your own association or licensing authority.

Who it is for

This is written for these pharmacies.

  • Independent neighbourhood chemists
  • Pharmacies attached to a clinic or nursing home
  • Hospital pharmacies serving outpatients
  • Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras and generic medicine stores
  • Multi-outlet local pharmacy chains
  • Franchise outlets of national pharmacy brands
  • Surgical and medical equipment stores
  • Pharmacies stocking Ayurvedic and homoeopathic medicines
  • Twenty-four hour and late-night pharmacies

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • The Maps listing is wrong and the WhatsApp number is not yet staffed; fix those before spending on anything wider.
  • You run a single shop on a lane where nearly every customer already knows the owner, so a large plan would add cost, not custom.
  • You want to sell Rx products through posts or ads, which the rules for pharmacies do not permit.

How it works

How the digital marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Agree the one aim

We settle what the campaign must achieve, such as enquiries for a launch or footfall for an event, and the date it must be live.

  2. 2

    Check what is ready

We list the channels you already run, who runs them, and what each can produce in the time available. Anything that cannot be done properly is left out.

  3. 3

Write the idea and the message sheet

We draft the one-sentence idea, test it against each planned format, and fix the wording that all channels will copy.

  4. 4

Brief every channel from the same sheet

Your agency, freelancer or in-house person receives the message sheet and calendar. Their work is checked against the sheet before it goes out.

  5. 5

    Run on the shared calendar

Channels go live together. If the offer changes, every channel is changed on the same day from the same sheet.

  6. 6

    Measure as one campaign

Enquiries and orders are read against the baseline. The reporting schedule is agreed in writing with the scope.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How much marketing does a single-shop chemist actually need?
Less than most firms would sell you. A correct listing, an answered phone, a WhatsApp ordering routine and four institutional relationships cover most of it. We would rather say that in the first conversation than sell you a campaign.
What should we fix first?
The closing time on your listing, then who answers the phone after seven. Both are free, both take a day, and between them they decide most of the orders you are losing now.
Can my counter staff post health tips on social media?
General notices such as timings, delivery and availability of services are safer than health or medicine tips. Anything that names a medicine can breach the rules for promotion, so the pharmacist-in-charge should read each post. Check current rules with your licensing authority.
How do I tell if WhatsApp orders are bringing new customers or only existing ones?
Tag each WhatsApp customer as new or existing the first time they message, and ask how they found you. Count new customers separately for a season. The record will show whether the channel adds customers or only moves existing ones.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
