A buyer with a broken machine picks the repairer who names the model and the bill.

The fridge is warming, the screen is cracked, the laptop will not start or the purifier tastes wrong. The buyer searches for the machine and the brand, sometimes after the maker's own service centre has named a date that is too far off. The repairer who answers, asks which model it is and says what the first check costs gets the machine.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

A handyman explains a cabinet repair to a homeowner

In one paragraph

Appliance and device repair covers the trades that diagnose and fix a named machine: household appliances, air conditioners, fridges, washing machines, laptops, phones and water purifiers. GullySales looks at how each machine and brand is shown to searchers, how the estimate is explained, and how a repair becomes a record the customer keeps.

A phone is mended at a counter while the customer waits and an air conditioner is mended at a home visit. A laptop is left in a shop. What these trades share is a named machine, a fault that is found only after a look, a bill the buyer fears will grow, spare parts that decide the date, and a customer who disappears once the machine works.

7 kinds of business

Each kind of business in appliance & device repair sells a little differently.

Appliance repair technicians

The call comes once a brand's service centre has said next week. One technician repairs geysers, mixers and cooktops yet is listed under none, so naming each appliance and brand does the work.

AC repair services

Calls pile up in the first hot weeks, and customers fear a gas top-up they did not need. Gas and parts answered plainly, and a unit-wise service record that brings the owner back next summer, carry the trade.

Refrigerator repair services

A warming fridge means spoiling food, sometimes in the middle of the night, so the buyer calls whoever picks up and then asks whether repair beats replacement. An honest answer and a callback for missed night calls decide the booking.

Washing machine repair services

The buyer has an error code on the display and clothes inside, and may send a photo of it on WhatsApp. Top-load, front-load and semi-automatic machines need different parts, so pages and replies should name the machine type.

Laptop repair services

The buyer worries about private files as much as the fault, and an estimate that changes once the machine is opened makes it worse. Say what happens to the data and what is checked first.

Mobile phone repair services

Most sales close at the counter while the customer waits, so the part grade, the price and the shop's reviews on Maps are weighed together. The customer is a walk-in from the street, not a booked visit.

RO water purifier service providers

The first call is about taste or flow, but the service plan is what matters. Brand companies phone the same households with plans of their own, so a service register with each unit's filter dates is what keeps the customer yours.

What they share

What usually goes wrong across appliance & device repair.

Whichever of these you run, you will probably recognise most of them.

  • “The buyer fears the bill will grow once we open the machine”

The estimate is given before the fault is fully known, and the buyer expects us to find extra work. Unless we say what the first check costs and what would change it, the figure we give is not believed.

  • “We repair many makes but are listed under none”

Buyers search for a machine and a brand. A listing that says only repairs, with no machine types and no brands, matches no search, and the buyer finds the shop that names theirs.

  • “The maker's service channel is the first call”

The brand's service centre, its warranty and its own plans for the same customer sit ahead of us. We have to give a reason to call us that is clearer than waiting for the brand.

  • “The part decides the job, and the customer feels the delay”

A part that is not in hand, a cheaper grade or a long wait ends the repair or sends the customer elsewhere. Unless we say at the start what the part is and when it can be had, the customer blames us.

  • “Calls and messages go unanswered while we are on a repair”

A technician is inside a unit, or a counter is busy with a walk-in. The call is missed or the WhatsApp photo is answered late, and the buyer with a dead machine rings someone else.

  • “We fix the machine and never hear from the customer again”

We do not hold the model, the fault or the date, so we cannot remind anyone when a service, a filter or a check is due. The next job goes to the first name the customer finds.

Where to start

What to fix first in appliance & device repair.

In the order we would look at them. Your own enquiry records may change the order, and we would say so.

  • List every machine type and brand you repair on the Google profile and on a page of your own, one per machine, so searches by model find you.
  • Say in your first reply what the first check or visit costs, what it settles, and what would change the final figure.
  • Tell the customer what the part is, where it comes from and when it can be had, before the repair is agreed.
  • Return every missed call or unanswered photo with a message that asks the model and the fault, so the buyer is not left waiting.
  • Keep a register with the machine, the fault, the part used and the date for every job, and message customers where they have agreed to it when a service falls due.
  • Ask each customer for a review after the machine works and reply to the poor ones politely in public.

FAQ

Questions about appliance & device repair.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How do I explain a repair estimate without losing the customer?
Say what the first check or visit costs, what it will settle and what could change the figure after the machine is opened. A buyer who knows the steps before they start is less likely to suspect padding afterwards.
Should I list every brand I can repair?
List the brands and models you repair well and have parts for. A long list you cannot back up brings calls you turn away, which wastes the buyer's time and yours.
How do I compete with the brand's own service centre?
You will not win on the warranty job, so do not try. Win on the call where the brand has given a date the buyer cannot wait for, with a named model, a clear first charge and a reply that arrives quickly.
How do I get a customer back when the machine is working again?
Keep a register of the machine, the part and the date, and send a message, where the customer has agreed to it, when a filter, a service or a check is due. The register does the work of remembering for the customer.
Is it worth advertising on Google for repairs?
It can fill a quiet spell once the listing, the machine pages and the reviews are in place. Without those, paid clicks reach a page that does not name the buyer's machine.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on what is being changed and how many of the people who matter see it. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever the work touches, such as your profiles, your website or your accounts, and time with the people who can answer our questions.
