Home cleaning companies · Referral marketing

One clean flat can sell the whole tower if somebody asks.

Referral work in home cleaning has two sides: the neighbour in the same building who saw your van, and the brokers, packers and interior contractors who hand over empty flats all year. GullySales builds the ask made at the end of a job and the working relationships with the people who create cleaning work in the first place.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What referral marketing means

Referral marketing is asking an existing customer to recommend you to someone they know, usually with a reward for both sides. It differs from a loyalty scheme because it brings in a new customer rather than a repeat purchase. GullySales builds the ask and the reward into a point where a customer is already satisfied.

For home cleaning companies

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Your customer is already in a WhatsApp group with two hundred neighbours”

Somebody in that group asks for a cleaning recommendation most weeks. Ask the customer, at the walk-through, to put your number in the next time it comes up, and give them something short enough to paste.

  • “The people who hand over empty flats are better referrers than customers”

Brokers, packers and movers, and interior contractors know a fortnight in advance which flat needs a deep clean before somebody moves in. One broker doing ten handovers a year is worth more than ten happy households.

  • “If you pay for referrals, do it in the open”

A commission to a broker or a society secretary is a normal arrangement in this trade. Agree the amount in writing and do not fund it by quietly raising the customer's rate, because a customer who works out they paid for the introduction writes about it.

What we do

What we deliver for home cleaning companies.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A forwardable message the customer can paste

Two lines and a number, written so a happy customer can drop it into the society group without editing anything, handed over at the walk-through.

Result: The recommendation arrives in the group in a usable form.

  2. A list of the handover trades in your areas

Brokers, packers and movers, interior contractors and property managers working the localities you cover, with who has been approached and what came of it.

Result: You know which introductions are worth calling again.

  3. A written arrangement for anyone you pay

What the fee is, when it becomes due, and a clear statement that the customer's rate does not change because of it.

Result: Nobody is negotiating a commission on the phone at the last minute.

  4. Society committees approached as accounts

An approach to the secretary or the facility manager covering common area work and a rate for residents, since one committee decision opens a hundred flats.

Result: You get into the building through the front door.

  5. A referral field on every new enquiry

One question at booking about who mentioned you, recorded against the job, so the broker or the neighbour who sent it can be thanked.

Result: You can tell which building and which trade is feeding you.

  6. A thank you that actually reaches the sender

A consistent way of acknowledging a referral once the job is done and paid for, agreed in advance so it does not depend on who remembers.

Result: The person who sent you work sends more.

How the result is measured

  • Referrals received
  • Referral conversion rate
  • Cost per referred customer

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How referrals reach a cleaning company

A cleaning company is found by the neighbour who saw the van and by the trades that hand over empty flats.

Neighbours in the same building
Ask the customer whether you may knock on one neighbouring door and say the flat was cleaned today. That kind word is worth more than a flyer.
Property brokers and landlords
A broker needs a flat cleaned before the new tenant arrives. Give the broker a one-page rate card by flat size and a handover checklist the broker can forward to the owner.
Packers and movers
A packing crew leaves dust and cartons behind. Offer a move-out cleaning slot the mover can add to the mover's own quote, and keep the invoice in your name.
Interior and painting contractors
After renovation a flat needs a post-construction clean. Ask the contractor for the handover date a few days ahead, so your team arrives the day the keys change hands.
Source on the booking
Write the source on every booking: customer, broker, mover or contractor. Whoever's name keeps appearing gets a visit and a thank-you.
What never to do
Never post a customer's flat number or photographs of the inside of a home. A client who finds the home online will not refer anyone.

Who it is for

This is written for these home cleaning companies.

  • Deep cleaning and one-time service providers
  • Recurring home maintenance cleaning companies
  • Sofa, carpet and upholstery cleaning specialists
  • Move-in and move-out cleaning services
  • Office and commercial cleaning contractors
  • Society and apartment complex cleaning contracts
  • Franchise-model cleaning companies

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • The first customers have not yet had a clean they would recommend, so a request for names would be premature.
  • You cannot take extra flats in the same building because the crew is busy, and a referral would be left waiting.
  • You plan to offer a free clean as the reward without checking the platform or society rules, and without a rate you can repeat.

How it works

How the referral marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

Read the margin and the relationship

We work out what a new customer is worth and what you can pay to get one, then check whether customers know others like themselves.

  2. 2

Find the referrals you already get

Your invoices, call notes and WhatsApp threads show who already sends people to you, and who they are. That sets the starting point and the first people to ask.

  3. 3

Write the offer and the rules

The reward, the definition of a valid referral and the payout steps are agreed in writing before anything is shown to customers.

  4. 4

Build the share path and the record

The message, the link or code and the referral sheet are built. Your team tests a referral end to end, from forward to reward.

  5. 5

Start with your best customers, then widen

The first asks go to people who have already praised you. What they say about the offer decides what changes before it reaches the wider base.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 7, after the sale. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should we give the referring customer a free clean?
A discount on the next visit is easier to honour than a free one and does not wreck the job's economics. Whatever you choose, make it the same for everyone and pay it only after the referred job is completed and settled.
How do we get into a society without the committee blocking us?
Go to the committee rather than around it. Ask the secretary for permission to work in the building, offer the common areas at a sensible rate, and give the guard desk your staff list and verification. Crews who sneak in once get the whole company barred.
A customer is unhappy about the clean we did for a friend. What do we do?
Contact the friend first, hear the complaint and put it right, for example with a return visit to the missed areas. Tell the referring customer briefly what happened. The name was on the recommendation, so the referrer should hear that it was handled.
Other flats in the same building want the same price as the first customer. Can we offer a building rate?
You can, if it is true. Cleaners who travel to the same tower save time on the second and third flat, so a modest building rate is fair. Tell the first customer the rule too, in case the question comes up, and write it on the quote.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
