Tiffin services · Hospitality

Be the tiffin that PG residents and office workers recommend to the next person.

A first-year student in a PG near the college gate asks a senior where to eat properly. The senior names the tiffin two lanes away. No advertisement is behind it: the dal tastes like home and the cook remembers who does not eat onion. That one sentence from a senior carries more weight than a poster at the gate.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

Catering staff check prepared meals in an institutional kitchen

In one paragraph

A tiffin service cooks home-style meals and delivers them daily to people who live or work nearby, on a pay-in-advance plan. Marketing makes the kitchen visible within a few kilometres. Sales turns a curious message into a trial, then a plan. GullySales builds the map listing, the trial routine and the customer record, and drafts the referral ask for your best customers.

It is also a small, fragile kind of business. A home kitchen cooking for forty people has no spare capacity, so a bad month of enquiries or a few cancellations hurts. The work is to keep the list full without losing the personal feel that fills it.

How buyers decide

How tiffin services are chosen.

Tiffin customers choose by distance, taste and trust. They search for tiffin service near a landmark, ask in a PG or colony WhatsApp group, or follow a neighbour's advice. The kitchen has to be close enough to deliver while the food is hot, and the menu has to match what they eat at home, whether that is north Indian, Karnataka meals, Bengali fish or Jain food.

Price is stated as a plan for the month, and a new customer wants to try a few meals first. They also ask about hygiene, the oil used, whether the menu repeats and what happens on festival days and when they are away. The cook’s name and the kitchen’s photographs matter because the customer is trusting a person.

People stay for as long as their address or job does. Students leave after exams, an office worker is transferred, a family moves. The business needs a steady flow of new people to replace those who go, which is why the first impression online matters even for a kitchen that lives on word of mouth.

The problem

What usually goes wrong for tiffin services.

What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.

  • “We depend on word of mouth, and it dries up in a bad month”

When two or three customers leave together, the kitchen has no other way of finding new people. The list shrinks until someone recommends the tiffin again.

  • “Nobody finds us when they search”

A kitchen run from a home may have no map listing and no photos. A person looking for tiffin near the college or the office park does not see it.

  • “Enquiries come at odd hours and are answered late”

Messages arrive at midnight and at the busiest hour of cooking. By the time they are read, the customer has found another kitchen.

  • “The money is collected in cash and notes”

Who has paid, who owes, who is on leave and who has left sit in a notebook. Mistakes cost money and trust.

  • “Peak months bring more requests than we can serve”

June and July, when colleges open, are full, and the kitchen turns people away. Other months are slack, and no waiting list exists for the next opening.

  • “Larger kitchens undercut us on price”

A customer comparing plans sees an app-based plan at one rate and a home kitchen at another. The home kitchen sells on taste and trust, but says so nowhere a stranger can read.

What we do

What we do for tiffin services.

Everything included for tiffin services.

  1. A listing that shows the kitchen

A Google Business Profile and a JustDial listing with the service area, the plan rates, the menu and honest photographs of the kitchen and the packed boxes.

  2. A trial and plan message set

WhatsApp messages for a first enquiry, a trial, the plan details and the payment, written in the language your customers use, whether that is English, Kannada, Hindi or Telugu.

  3. A customer record that replaces the notebook

A simple sheet or tool listing every customer with their address, plan, payments, days off and renewal date, with reminders for payments due.

  4. A waiting list and capacity note

A way to take names when the kitchen is full, and to contact them when a place opens.

  5. Neighbourhood posters and group messages

A poster with a QR code for PG gates, colony boards and office notice boards, and a short post for the society and PG WhatsApp groups where you are allowed to post.

  6. A where-did-they-hear sheet

Each new customer's first message matched to search, poster, PG owner or friend, with trials, plans started and plans lapsed counted beside it.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries by source
  • Trials taken and plans started
  • Plans lapsed and the reason given
  • Waiting list length in busy months
  • Referrals from existing customers
  • Reviews from nearby customers

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Worth a page and a campaign of their own

A Google Business Profile with the delivery area, plan rates and photos of the kitchen · A trial offer of a few meals, with a call afterwards · A menu for the week shared before it starts · A WhatsApp number answered at fixed hours, with a message that says when you reply · A record of every customer: address, plan, payment, leave and end date · A waiting list for the months when the kitchen is full · Reviews from customers who live nearby · A referral thank-you for those who bring a friend · Clear notes on festival days, holidays and how a stopped plan is refunded

Priority campaigns

Campaigns for what tiffin services most want to sell.

Each one planned around when your buyers decide, and measured against the baseline.

  • College admission and joining-season push

A map listing, poster and WhatsApp campaign aimed at students and new joiners near colleges and companies when they arrive and look for a place to eat.

  • PG owner partnership

An offer to PG owners and hostel wardens: a trial for their residents, and a small thank-you for introducing the tiffin to each new batch.

  • Office park lunch campaign

Posters and a short message to office admins near your kitchen, offering a trial lunch for a team.

  • Referral week for existing customers

A simple offer for a customer who brings a friend or colleague, such as one extra meal for each of them.

  • Festival and holiday special

A special menu for Ugadi, Diwali, Pongal or Onam announced by WhatsApp, with pre-orders for those who stay behind.

Beyond search

Where we reach buyers of tiffin services, beyond Google.

Search matters, but it is rarely the only way this industry's buyers find a supplier.

  • PG owners and hostel wardens

The PGs and hostels within your delivery distance, with who runs each, so the first conversation goes to the right person.

  • Office admin managers

The person in each nearby office who fields questions about lunch, with a short trial offer written for them.

  • Colony and society groups

Which groups welcome a kitchen's post and which ban it, and a post worded so it does not read as spam.

  • People searching on their phone

A listing with the right pin, the delivery area and photos of the real kitchen, for someone typing tiffin near a landmark.

Who it is for

This is written for these tiffin services.

  • Home kitchens run by women for PG residents and students
  • Tiffin services supplying working professionals in IT parks
  • Regional tiffins, such as Gujarati, Marwari, Bengali, Kerala or Andhra meals
  • Jain and sattvic tiffin services
  • Diet and low-oil tiffins
  • Tiffins for senior citizens living alone
  • Hostel and mess tiffin suppliers
  • Lunch-box suppliers delivering to offices and factories
  • Dabba services that collect and return carriers

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

How the work runs for tiffin services

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

Count what the kitchen can cook and deliver hot

How many tiffins you can cook in a morning, how far they travel hot and who your longest-staying customers are, talked through in one visit.

  2. 2

    Audit how people find you

The listing, the saved messages and the notebook looked through, with the source of each current customer written down.

  3. 3

Strategise around the seasons you fill and empty

A plan built around the college and joining months and the quiet ones in between, so the kitchen is neither overbooked nor half empty.

  4. 4

Implement the listing, the replies and the record

The profile, the message set, the customer record and the posters are set up and handed over.

  5. 5

Compare enquiries, trials and plans with the first count

Enquiries, trials and plans set against that first count, so the sources that fill the list stay and the rest drop.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

GullySales builds every engagement from three pieces of sales work. This page is not one of them, but the same three steps apply to the business behind it.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions tiffin services ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Do I need a website for a home tiffin business?
No. A complete Google Business Profile, a WhatsApp number and a few good photographs do most of the work. A single page helps once you add plans and a delivery area map.
How do I get customers when I am cooking all day?
Write fixed reply messages for the usual questions and set hours when you answer. Customers accept a reply at six in the evening if the message tells them when to expect it.
Should I offer a free trial meal?
A free meal is fine if you can afford the cooking and you follow up. Offer a small number of meals, ask what they thought, and then tell them the plan options. Without the follow-up, a free trial just feeds people.
Can I put customers' names and photos on my page?
Only with their permission, and ask each time. Many customers are happy to write a review on the map listing, which is a better place for it.
Will you find customers for my kitchen?
We make the kitchen visible and handle enquiries well, and prepare the approach to PG owners and office admins nearby. We cannot promise a number of customers, and the cooking and delivery remain yours.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and we tell you which applies to you after we have spoken. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
To start, last month's enquiries in any format and time with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM.
