Locksmiths · Referral marketing

The guard at the gate decides which locksmith gets called.

A locked-out resident asks whoever is nearest before searching for anything. That is the guard, the neighbour, the shop downstairs. On the planned side it is the estate agent, the interior contractor and the car dealer. GullySales works out who those people are in your areas, how they are approached, and how a referral fee is handled without it turning up on the customer's bill.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

What referral marketing means

Referral marketing is asking an existing customer to recommend you to someone they know, usually with a reward for both sides. It differs from a loyalty scheme because it brings in a new customer rather than a repeat purchase. GullySales builds the ask and the reward into a point where a customer is already satisfied.

For locksmiths

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The security desk is the first place anybody asks”

Before a resident opens Maps he asks the guard, and the guard has a number in his register or in his own phone. Getting your card into that register is the cheapest marketing a locksmith can do.

  • “Car key work comes from the trade, not from drivers”

A man with a snapped key rings the dealer, the garage or the RTO agent he used last. Those three know a dozen locksmiths and use one. None of them will ever search for you.

  • “If you pay a commission, price it openly”

Paying a guard or an agent is normal in this trade and there is no point pretending otherwise. Agree the amount, keep it off the customer's bill, and remember that an emergency invoice inflated to cover somebody's cut becomes a review about being cheated.

What we do

What we deliver for locksmiths.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A list of the gates, shops and desks that send work

Security desks, hardware shops, electricians and estate agents in the localities you cover, with who has your number and who has sent you a job.

Result: You know where your word of mouth actually comes from.

  2. A card written for the register, not the pocket

Something that sits in a guard's book and stays legible: name, number, the areas you reach at night, and the three kinds of work you do.

Result: Your number is in the book when the resident asks.

  3. An approach to the car key trade

Dealers, garages and RTO agents contacted with what you can programme and cut, what you charge them, and how fast you reach their workshop.

Result: Car key work arrives from people who see it every day.

  4. A written commission arrangement where you pay one

The amount, when it is due, and a clear statement that the customer's price is not raised to fund it, agreed with each referrer in advance.

Result: Nobody haggles over a cut in front of the customer.

  5. Referral source recorded on every job

One field on the job sheet asking who sent them, filled at the gate, so the guard or the agent behind a run of work can be identified.

Result: You can thank the people who are actually feeding you.

  6. A thank you that goes out reliably

A consistent gesture for a referrer once a job is completed and paid, decided in advance so it does not depend on who is in a good mood.

Result: The people sending work keep sending it.

How the result is measured

  • Referrals received
  • Referral conversion rate
  • Cost per referred customer

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Who it is for

This is written for these locksmiths.

  • Emergency and 24-hour locksmiths

  • Safe installation and repair specialists
  • Smart lock and digital security installers

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. 01 · First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. 02 · After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. 03 · Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. 04 · After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. 05 · As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. 06 · At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the work runs for locksmiths

  1. 1

Audit the call and response process

We check how fast a call or WhatsApp message is answered at different times of day, and whether the listing shows a real response time.

  2. 2

    Fix the local listing

The Business Profile completed with service area, verification details and real job photographs, so the locksmith appears for near me searches.

  3. 3

    Build a 24-hour answer routine

A call and WhatsApp routine that works outside office hours, so an 11pm emergency is answered as reliably as a daytime call.

  4. 4

    Build job-specific pages

A page for car key programming, digital lock installation and other planned jobs, separate from the emergency lockout page.

  5. 5

Offer the upgrade after the emergency

A short follow-up after an emergency call, offering a digital lock or security upgrade while the customer is still thinking about their locks.

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Is it wrong to pay a security guard for referrals?
It is common, and it becomes a problem when it is hidden or when the customer pays for it. Keep the amount fixed, keep the customer's rate unchanged, and be ready to tell a society committee what the arrangement is if they ask. Some managements forbid it, so check before you offer.
Which referral source is worth the most to a locksmith?
The ones attached to planned work, because emergency referrals arrive once and disappear. An interior contractor fitting out a floor of offices, or a builder handing over a block, brings repeat volume at a price you agreed in advance.
How do you handle trust and verification for a locksmith?
We show your police verification, your technicians' photographs and ID, and real job photos on the listing. A customer about to let a stranger open their door checks those first.
Can this work for a one-person locksmith business?
Yes. Most of the work is the listing, the answer routine and the job pages, which a single technician can keep up. The after-hours routine matters even more when one phone takes every call.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
