Steel rolling mills and TMT bar makers · Sales process

Take a rate request to a confirmed lorry in steps the whole team follows.

A sales process for a steel mill is the written order of steps from a rate request to dispatch and payment. GullySales sets out each step with the question to ask, the record to make and who owns it, so credit and rates are not decided from memory.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What sales process means

A sales process is the fixed sequence of steps, such as enquiry, site visit, quote and order, that every deal is expected to pass through in the same order. GullySales writes this sequence down for your business and checks that every salesperson actually follows it.

For steel rolling mills and TMT bar makers

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The rate goes out before the buyer is understood”

A rate sent without the quantity or delivery town is a guess, and the buyer treats it as an offer. The mill is held to a rate it never meant.

  • “Credit is settled after the lorry is loaded”

The credit position is checked when the vehicle is at the gate. A late payer gets his steel because it is too late to stop it.

  • “Nobody follows up after dispatch”

Once the lorry leaves, the sale is treated as done. The dealer's next order, and any complaint about the lot, wait for him to call.

What we do

What we deliver for steel rolling mills and TMT bar makers.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A written sequence of steps

Rate request, qualification, quote, follow-up, order confirmation, credit check, dispatch and payment follow-up, each with one owner.

Result: A new sales person can follow the same steps.

  2. A qualifying set of questions

Size, grade, quantity, delivery town, payment terms and who decides, in the order a sales person asks them.

Result: The quote is given on facts.

  3. A rate quote format with validity

A standard message and PDF that states the rate, the basis, the delivery terms and how long the rate holds.

Result: The buyer and the mill are speaking about the same rate.

  4. A credit check before the order is confirmed

A rule that credit is checked against the record before dispatch is booked, and who may override it.

Result: Credit is decided before loading, not after.

  5. A post-dispatch call

A call to the dealer once the lot has arrived, asking about the delivery and the next requirement.

Result: Problems and reorders surface early.

How the result is measured

  • Deals following the process
  • Time spent at each step
  • Drop-off rate by step

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Steps of a sale

The steps from a rate request to a paid lorry, in the way a mill's sales team says them.

Rate request
Note who asked, for which size and for which town. Answer with an indication and ask the quantity, so the request becomes a proper enquiry.
Qualify
Ask grade, quantity, delivery town, how he pays and who confirms the order. A request from a dealer you know takes one question, and a new one takes several.
Quote
Send the rate, the basis, such as ex-works or delivered, how long it holds and the payment terms. Keep a copy against the dealer's record.
Follow-up
If he has not answered by the end of the day the rate was good for, call and ask what he is comparing it with. Record the answer, whatever it is.
Order and credit check
Confirm the order in writing and look at the credit record before booking dispatch. If he is over the limit, tell him that day and what clears it.
Dispatch and handover
Send the invoice, the test certificate and the vehicle details with the lorry. Call when it has arrived, and ask what he will want next.

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is reply time, a follow-up sequence, the page buyers land on or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the sales process work runs

  1. 1

    Study current deal flow

We trace how deals actually move today, comparing across reps and outcomes.

  2. 2

    Define the stages

Clear stages and criteria are designed to match how deals genuinely progress and close.

  3. 3

    Configure the CRM

The process is built into your CRM so it is enforced structurally, not just documented.

  4. 4

    Train the team

Reps are trained on the new process and why each stage exists.

  5. 5

    Review adoption

We check after rollout whether the process is being followed and adjust where it is not.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Who does which step?
The sales executive qualifies and quotes, the sales manager approves rates and credit, and accounts confirms payments. Write the owner of each step on one page and put it where the team sees it.
When should we quote?
Once you know the size, quantity, delivery town and who pays. A rate given earlier should be called an indication. Steel moves, so state how long the quote holds.
What do we do with a buyer who only compares price?
Give him the rate with the terms in writing and ask what he is comparing it with. If it is only the rate, offer what you can on credit or delivery and accept that some orders go elsewhere.
What should we write down at each step?
The buyer, the size and quantity, the rate quoted, the credit position and what he said. One line a call is enough if it is written the same day.
Can we publish our rate on the website?
No. A steel rate changes with the market and a printed one is wrong by the afternoon. Publish the grades, sizes and a way to ask for today's rate, and answer on WhatsApp from a named person.
Does a mill need a brand if it sells only through dealers?
Yes. A brand builders ask for makes the dealer's job easier and lets you hold your rate. A mill known only by the lorry it sends competes on rate each day.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
