B2B SaaS startups · Buyer persona

Write down who feels the pain, who approves the spend and who stops the deal.

A buyer persona for a B2B SaaS startup describes the people inside a customer company who use the product, sign for it and can block it, with the words each of them uses. GullySales builds these from your closed deals and lost deals instead of from guesses.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For B2B SaaS startups

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The user, the buyer and the blocker are three people”

The operations lead who needs the tool, the owner or CFO who pays, and the IT or security head who can stop it want different things. A pitch aimed at only one leaves the other two unconvinced.

  • “The last ten wins describe the persona better than a workshop”

Looking at who actually signed, what job they held and what triggered the search gives a more reliable profile than a brainstorm. The patterns in closed deals are usually plainer than the team expects.

  • “Lost deals show the persona you misjudged”

When a deal ends in no decision, the reason can be a missing stakeholder. Recording who was in the room and who was absent shows whom the next pitch needs to include earlier.

  • “A persona in a slide deck changes nothing”

If the profile is not used when writing outbound messages, naming pages or scoring signups, it is decoration. It has to appear in the CRM fields and in the first lines of the scripts.

What we do

What we deliver for B2B SaaS startups.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Persona write-ups for user, buyer and blocker

One page each: job title, daily problem, words used, what they fear, what they need to see.

Result: Anyone writing for a role can see in one page what that person cares about.

  2. Win and loss review of past deals

A sheet listing roles involved, trigger, objections and outcome for each recent deal.

Result: The persona is backed by real deals, and the evidence is listed.

  3. Objection map by role

A list of the questions each role asks, with the best answer and the document to send.

Result: The team answers a security question with a page rather than an improvised reply.

  4. CRM fields for roles

Fields that record each contact's role in the buying decision on every account.

Result: You can see which accounts have no buyer or blocker contact yet.

  5. Persona-based message review

Existing website, deck and email copy checked against each persona and rewritten where it speaks to nobody.

Result: Each public page names the reader it is for.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Who it is for

This is written for these B2B SaaS startups.

  • Early-stage SaaS selling to Indian SMEs and mid-market firms
  • Vertical SaaS for one trade, such as clinics, schools, dealers or builders
  • Developer tools and APIs sold to engineering teams
  • HR, payroll and compliance software for growing companies
  • Finance and accounting tools sold through CA firms
  • Indian-built SaaS selling to buyers in the US, UK or Middle East
  • Spin-offs from services firms that turned an internal tool into a product
  • Bootstrapped founders who have not raised and cannot hire a sales team yet

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

How many personas do we need?
The user, the buyer and the blocker are enough, and if one person plays two roles in small companies, say so. More than that makes the work harder to use. We start from the deals you have and add detail only where it changes what you say.
What if we only have a few customers?
Then the persona is a draft that gets tested. We write it from the customers you have, mark what is a guess and revisit it as new deals close or are lost.
Can the persona be different for small and large buyers?
Yes, and it should be when your deals show it. In a small firm the owner may use, sign and approve. In a larger company the roles split. We write the two versions separately when your deals show the difference.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
