Franchise systems · Other
Sell the next franchise, and fill the ones you have already sold.
These two jobs get confused, so it is worth separating them. Franchise development is the sale of a unit to a candidate. Local marketing brings customers to a franchisee who has already bought one. They need different budgets and different measures, and a franchisor who runs them from one pot does both badly.
Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

In one paragraph
A franchisor runs two marketing jobs at once. Franchise development sells units to candidates who are looking at five brands in the same week, and local marketing brings customers through the door for franchisees who already signed. GullySales runs the follow-up on both sides, the candidate who went quiet and the franchisee whose diary is empty.
They are also tied together at one point, and it is the point that decides deals. Every serious candidate rings four or five existing franchisees before signing. If those owners are busy and making money, the candidate signs. If the local marketing has been neglected and the phone is quiet, the best development campaign in the country will not save the deal. Validation calls are where the two jobs meet.

How buyers decide
How franchise systems are chosen.
On the development side, a candidate is usually leaving a corporate job and looking at several brands at once. The candidate starts on a portal such as Franchise Gator or BizBuySell, or is brought to you by a broker who will want a fee on the deal. The candidate fills in four forms in an evening. The brand that calls back within the hour gets the first real conversation, and that conversation decides who they keep talking to.
What the candidate is judging is different from what a customer judges. Investment range, working capital, how long until a unit breaks even, and what territory protection actually means. Then whether the founder is still involved, and what existing franchisees say when they call them. Almost none of that can be promised in an advertisement, because only the figures in Item 19 of your disclosure document may be used at all. The brands that do well here answer plainly and refuse to oversell.
For a franchisee's own customers, the decision is entirely local. A parent choosing a tutoring centre and a homeowner choosing a cleaning service both decide inside a few miles. What decides it is the map result, a set of recent reviews and a phone that gets answered. National brand awareness helps them recognise the name. It does not make the booking.
The problem
What usually goes wrong for franchise systems.
What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.
“Development leads go cold the same day”
A candidate enquires at nine in the evening and hears back on Tuesday. By then the candidate has had three conversations with brands that called on Monday morning.
“Most candidates cannot afford the investment anyway”
The development director spends the week on people with no liquid capital, because nothing qualifies a lead before it reaches the calendar.
“Brokers take a fee on candidates who already knew us”
A share of every signed deal goes out as a commission, and nobody has checked how many of those candidates had already visited the brand's own site.
“Franchisees say the brand fund does nothing for them”
They pay into a national fund every month and cannot point to one customer it brought to their store. At the annual conference this comes up first and loudest.
“Every location's listing says something different”
Hours, service areas, photographs and even the phone number vary by unit, because each franchisee set up their own profile and nobody owns the standard.
“Two franchisees are bidding against each other”
Neighbouring owners run their own search campaigns on the same brand terms and push each other's costs up, and the franchisor finds out from an angry email.
“A new unit opens to an empty diary”
Nothing was done in the eight weeks before the doors opened, so the owner burns through working capital waiting to be discovered.
“Validation calls are going badly and nobody knows why”
Deals fall apart after the candidate speaks to existing owners, and there is no record of which franchisees are being called or what they are saying.
What we do
What we do for franchise systems.
Everything included for franchise systems, and the result each part is there to produce.
Candidate enquiries answered within the hour
On the development side, portal leads, broker introductions and website enquiries are picked up inside the overlap hours agreed with you. The first call goes out while the candidate is still reading.
Result: Your brand is the one the candidate has already spoken to when they compare.
Qualification before your development director's diary
Capital, timeline, territory interest and background captured and checked against your own criteria, so the calls that reach your team are worth having.
Result: The development director stops spending the week on people who cannot buy.
A development site that stays inside the rules
Pages on investment range, territory, training and support, written with no earnings claim beyond what your Item 19 states, and reviewed by your franchise counsel before it goes live.
Result: Candidates get real answers without putting your registration at risk.
Source-by-source cost per signed unit
Portals, brokers, paid search, referrals from existing franchisees and organic enquiries tracked from first contact to signed agreement.
Result: You can see which source actually produces owners, not just enquiries.
One standard across every location listing
On the local side, each unit's Google Business Profile, hours, service area, photographs and review responses brought to the same standard and kept there.
Result: A customer searching in any territory finds the same brand, done properly.
Local pages written for the territory, not the brand
A page per unit naming the neighbourhoods it serves and what customers there actually search for, rather than the same brand copy with a city name swapped in.
Result: Each franchisee has something that ranks in their own map result.
A pre-opening routine a new owner can follow
The eight weeks before a unit opens laid out week by week, covering the listing, local outreach, launch offers and the first review requests.
Result: A new franchisee opens with a diary rather than with hope.
A report split in two
Development reported on enquiries, qualified candidates, discovery days and signings, and local marketing reported per unit, both against the baseline recorded before we start.
Result: Franchisees can see what the fund bought them, unit by unit.
How the result is measured
- Development enquiries by source, portal against broker and organic
- Time from enquiry to first conversation with a candidate
- Qualified candidates, discovery days attended and units signed
- Cost per signed unit by source
- Local enquiries per unit, against that unit's baseline
- Listing accuracy and new reviews per location
Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.
Every service, written for franchise systems
Each has its own page: what it involves for franchise systems, what you get, and what it is measured on.
- SEOOne set of pages sells units, the other set fills diaries.
- PPC adsYour franchisees are bidding against each other on your name.
- Lead generationQualify the candidate before they reach a development director.
- Digital marketingThe fund buys impressions and the franchisee sees nothing.
- Reputation managementCandidates read the complaint threads before they read a brochure.
- Local SEOTwo hundred listings, and nobody owns the standard.
- BrandingA brand standard nobody follows is not really a standard.
- Social media marketingA national page cannot fill one franchisee's diary on Tuesday.
- Content marketingAnswer the break-even question without making an earnings claim.
- Email marketingThe candidate who said not this year is still on your list.
- Buyer personaThe candidate who signs and the customer who books are different people.
- CRMA candidate tracker and a franchisee record should not live in one spreadsheet.
- Follow-up systemsThe candidate did not say no. They said not this year.
- WhatsApp marketingThe franchisee group chat is already your biggest channel.
- WebsiteOne domain, two front doors, and a locator that works on a phone.
Worth a page and a campaign of their own
Franchise development enquiries and qualification · Discovery day attendance · Multi-unit and area developer deals · Candidate reactivation from old enquiries · New unit pre-opening and grand opening · Local store marketing for existing franchisees · Google Business Profile for every location · Review generation and response by unit · National fund campaigns franchisees can see working · Franchisee adoption of the marketing programme
Priority campaigns
Campaigns for what franchise systems most want to sell.
Each one planned around when your buyers decide, and measured against the baseline.
Discovery day fill campaign
A dated campaign to portals, your own list and past enquiries aimed at a specific discovery day, with a follow-up sequence for anyone who registers and does not attend.
Result: The room is full of qualified candidates rather than whoever turned up.
Old candidate reactivation
A structured approach to the enquiries from six to eighteen months ago who never said no, most of whom were simply not ready that year.
Result: Deals come out of a list you have already paid for.
Grand opening and ramp campaign
A repeatable launch package for each new unit, covering the local search setup, the opening offer, neighbourhood outreach and the first thirty days of follow-up.
Result: New units reach a working volume sooner and validate better later.
Area developer and multi-unit outreach
Direct outreach to existing multi-unit operators and investors in states you want to open, which is a different conversation from a single-unit candidate.
Result: One conversation can commit several units at once.
Seasonal campaign the whole network runs together
One campaign built centrally, with the creative, the offer and the local variation prepared so every franchisee can run it on the same dates.
Result: Franchisees see the fund produce something they can point at.
Beyond search
Where we reach buyers of franchise systems, beyond Google.
Search matters, but it is rarely the only way this industry's buyers find a supplier.
Franchise brokers and consultant networks
Brokers bring candidates and take a fee. We keep your brand in front of the networks you work with, and track what each one costs per signed unit.
Franchise portals and listing sites
Portal subscriptions are easy to renew out of habit. We tag every lead by portal and report what each one produced beyond raw enquiry counts.
Your own franchisees as a development channel
Owners who are doing well refer friends and open second units. We build the ask, the referral record and the reward into the programme instead of hoping.
Industry events and franchise expos
Badge scans are worthless without follow-up. We prepare the outreach before the event and work the list within the same week.
Local partnerships for each unit
Schools, homeowner associations, chambers of commerce and neighbouring businesses differ by territory. We give each franchisee a list and a script for their own area.
Who it is for
This is written for these franchise systems.
- Emerging franchisors under twenty-five units
- Established systems adding units in new states
- Food and beverage franchise systems
- Home services and residential franchise brands
- Health, fitness and wellness studio franchises
- Childcare, tutoring and education franchises
- Senior care and staffing franchise systems
- Multi-unit and area developer models
- Franchisors relying on a broker network for most deals
Not for
It is not the right fit if.
- You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
- You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
- You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.
How it works
From your first message to the first report.
No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.
First
Your brief
You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.
After the brief
A conversation and a written scope
We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.
Before work starts
Baseline recorded
The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.
After the baseline
The first fix goes live
The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.
As agreed
Report against the baseline
What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.
At renewal
Renew on the numbers
The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.
How the work runs for franchise systems
- 1
Separate the two funnels
At the start we look at development and local marketing apart from each other, because they are usually reported as one number and hide each other's problems.
- 2
Fix the candidate response
Agreed overlap hours, a first call while the candidate is still reading, qualification against your own criteria, and a record your development team can see.
- 3
Set the local base
Every unit's listing, local page and review routine brought to one standard, so franchisees start from the same place rather than from whatever they set up themselves.
- 4
Open new units properly
A pre-opening routine run for each new franchisee, so the ramp does not depend on how confident that particular owner is at marketing.
- 5
Report to both audiences
Development numbers for the board and local numbers per unit for the franchisees, both against the baseline recorded before anything changed.
Why us
Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.
Marketing and sales, as one job
Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.
The person on the first call does the work
No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.
A baseline before anything starts
Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.
The fee in writing, split three ways
Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.
No guarantees we cannot keep
The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.
Hours that fit your day, agreed up front
Which hours we overlap with yours is settled before any work starts, so you know when a reply is coming and when it is not.

Engagement options
Ways to work with us.
Pick the size of commitment that fits. Every option starts with your brief and a conversation.
Option 1
The conversation on its own
A call after you send your brief. It says honestly whether you need outside help, and many fixes are ones your own team can make.
Option 2
One fix, scoped
Start with the fix that matters most, such as reply time or follow-up. The fee is in writing before anything starts.
Option 3
An ongoing programme
We run the work, report against the baseline, and you renew on the numbers. The term and the reporting are agreed in writing first.
Option 4
Guidance for your own team or agency
We plan, brief and check the work of your in-house team or current agency, instead of replacing them.
Your brief
Tell us what you need, and we will read it before we call.
Eight short steps about your business, what you want and who decides. Most questions are a tap, and you can skip any you would rather answer on the call.
