Income tax consultants · Professional services
Be the consultant a taxpayer finds with a notice in hand, long after the July rush.
A software engineer in Bengaluru gets an email from the income tax department about a mismatch between Form 26AS and the return filed in July. Nobody at home knows what to do. That evening the notice number goes into a phone search.
Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

In one paragraph
An income tax consultant files returns for salaried people, professionals, traders and NRIs, and answers department notices. Marketing puts your name in front of a worried taxpayer, and sales turns a one-time return into a client who files with you again. GullySales prepares the answer pages, the client list with reminder messages and the first-reply flow.
The consultant whose page explains that notice is the one the search shows, and a site that says only "income tax services" is passed over. Return filing is seasonal and priced low, so a consultant lives on volume and repeat clients. The money is in notices, capital gains, ESOP and foreign income, NRI cases and small business accounts, where the buyer is anxious and the work is not routine. A firm that is only visible in July misses all of it.

How buyers decide
How income tax consultants are chosen.
Most individuals pick a consultant through a friend, a colleague or a colleague's CA. Trust comes first, because the consultant will hold a PAN, bank details and the login for the income tax portal. A simple salary return may go to an app. Capital gains, rental income, foreign assets, a notice or a business send people to someone who explains what happens next.
A notice, a refund held up or a high-value transaction flagged on the annual information statement changes the search. The buyer types the notice section number or the words on the email, reads the first two pages that explain it, and calls the one that sounds calm and specific. A reply that only says call us loses to one that names the first document to gather.
Small business owners and professionals choose differently. A doctor or architect asks a peer, and a shopkeeper asks whoever handles the shop's GST. Presumptive taxation, advance tax and tax audit thresholds come up, and the consultant who explains them plainly is kept for years.
The problem
What usually goes wrong for income tax consultants.
What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.
“We are busy from June to July and quiet the rest of the year”
Returns pour in around the due date and then enquiries dry up, though notices, advance tax and capital gains questions continue all year.
“People shop on price for a simple return”
A salaried client compares us to a filing app with a very low fee and does not see what we do beyond data entry.
“Notice enquiries come on WhatsApp at night and we answer next day”
The taxpayer has already messaged two other consultants from the search results, and one has answered with what to gather first.
“Clients file once and disappear”
A client we helped with a refund this year is not reminded of next year's deadline and goes elsewhere.
“Our site covers everything and ranks for nothing”
There is a single page for income tax, and nothing on ESOP taxation, NRI returns, capital gains on property or reply to a section 143(1) intimation.
“We do not know what each source brings in”
Referrals, Google, JustDial and the old client list all feed enquiries, but nobody records which of them gave us the clients we keep.
What we do
What we do for income tax consultants.
Everything included for income tax consultants.
A page for each notice and situation
Separate pages for common intimations, a mismatch with Form 26AS or the annual information statement, a late return, an NRI selling property and ESOP taxation, each in plain words with a clear way to enquire.
WhatsApp enquiry flow
A WhatsApp Business setup with quick replies, a short intake of PAN type and the notice received, and a rule for who answers outside office hours.
Client list with reminder messages
A record of every client, the returns filed and the dates that matter, such as advance tax instalments and the filing due date, with reminder messages in your voice.
Google Business Profile and local presence
A profile with services, area, hours and real reviews from clients who agree to give them, plus a standard way of replying to each one. A CA checks ICAI guidance on client reviews first.
Referral routes with employers and peers
A note for HR teams, apartment associations, doctors' groups and fellow professionals that explains what you handle and how to refer.
Enquiry record by source
A sheet of enquiries by source and type, how many became clients and how many filed with you again the next year, set against the position at the start.
How the result is measured
- Enquiries by source and by situation
- Gap between a WhatsApp notice enquiry and the first reply
- Enquiries converted to clients
- Clients who return the next year
- Referral sources and the work each sent
- Reminder messages sent and review bookings that followed
Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.
Every service, written for income tax consultants
Each has its own page: what it involves for income tax consultants, what you get, and what it is measured on.
- Lead generationBring in the taxpayers whose work is worth more than one July return.
- SEORank for the notice a worried taxpayer has just read, not for income tax services.
- Local SEOBe the consultant a taxpayer finds on the map when the office is a short ride away.
- Social media marketingPost the answers a taxpayer saves, not a greeting on the due date.
- Content marketingWrite the guide a taxpayer wishes the department had sent with the notice.

Worth a page and a campaign of their own
Income tax return filing for salaried individuals · Notices, intimations and rectification · Capital gains on property, shares and mutual funds · NRI returns and foreign asset reporting · ESOP and RSU taxation · Return filing for professionals and small businesses · Advance tax planning · Refund tracking and follow-up with the department
Priority campaigns
Campaigns for what income tax consultants most want to sell.
Each one planned around when your buyers decide, and measured against the baseline.
Filing season campaign
Search ads and WhatsApp messages in the weeks before the filing due date, aimed at salaried people and professionals, with a simple document list. A CA clears paid ads with ICAI guidance first.
Notice response campaign
Pages and ads for the notices people search about, with a set first reply and a clear note of what the department asks for.
NRI return campaign
Targeted content and outreach for NRIs selling property or earning rent in India, through community groups and the property agents and banks they deal with.
Employer group campaign
A short talk or note for HR heads at companies in your area on the tax impact of ESOPs, relocation and a new joiner's previous employer income.
Advance tax and year-end reminder campaign
Reminder messages for your existing client list, written to go out ahead of each advance tax date and before March, with a simple prompt to book a review.
Beyond search
Where we reach buyers of income tax consultants, beyond Google.
Search matters, but it is rarely the only way this industry's buyers find a supplier.
HR and payroll teams
A list of companies near you and a short note for their HR and payroll heads on Form 16 gaps, ESOP perquisites and a new joiner's earlier employer income.
Chartered accountants and lawyers
A chartered accountant or lawyer busy with company work has a partner's or client's personal return to place. The introduction says what you take and what you pass back.
Real estate agents and developers
When a client sells a flat or plot, capital gains is the question put to the agent. A leaflet the agent can hand over answers the first question and names you for the rest.
Resident welfare associations and co-working spaces
A talk or notice-board sheet on filing and common notices for apartment communities and co-working members, with a number for questions afterwards.
NRI community groups
A list of the associations and groups where NRIs and returning residents ask for tax help, with general content written for each.

- 1

Mark when enquiries came, which clients returned, and how much of your income came from notices, capital gains and small business work.
- 2
Fix the first reply
A WhatsApp flow, a record of every enquiry and a rule for who answers when, including evenings and holidays.
- 3
Build the answer pages
A page for each situation people search, checked by you for accuracy, and written in the words of a worried taxpayer.
- 4
Prepare the client list
A client list with the dates that matter and a drafted message for each date.
- 5
Compare with the baseline
Enquiries, clients won and clients kept set against what was recorded at the start, so the next step is chosen from the record.
Where this fits
Three pieces of sales work, in this order.
GullySales builds every engagement from three pieces of sales work. This page is not one of them, but the same three steps apply to the business behind it.
Step 1
Sales audit
Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.
Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.
Step 2
Sales process design
One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.
Start here if every salesperson sells differently.
Step 3
Sales management
A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.
Start here if the team has targets and no routine.
