Patent attorneys · Search engine optimisation

Be the page an inventor reads when they search before showing the prototype.

SEO for a patent practice means the pages that appear when an inventor searches a field, a question or a type of filing. GullySales works on the page structure, the technical field wording and the questions inventors ask before they speak to anyone.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What search engine optimisation means

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the work of getting your website to appear when a buyer searches Google for what you sell. GullySales builds pages around real search terms, fixes technical issues that block ranking, and tracks which searches actually bring enquiries.

For patent attorneys

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Inventors search a question, not a firm”

The searches are things like whether an idea can be patented, or what happens if it is shown at an expo first. A practice with a page that answers the question in plain words meets the inventor at that point.

  • “Technical vocabulary decides who reads on”

A pharmaceutical chemist and a mechanical designer use different words for similar worries. A page written in the vocabulary of the field signals that the attorney understands it, and a generic page signals the opposite.

  • “Thin pages for every filing type dilute the site”

A separate page for each filing type, each with two lines, adds nothing. A few strong pages by field, with the filing types explained inside them, give search engines and inventors more to read.

What we do

What we deliver for patent attorneys.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A map of questions inventors ask

The disclosure, novelty, provisional filing and cost-of-protection questions, listed by who asks them.

Result: One sheet shows which question each page on the site is meant to answer.

  2. Field pages with the attorney's background

Each page states the degree or work behind the attorney's competence in that field.

Result: An inventor reads who is drafting before they ring.

  3. A guide to disclosure before filing

Explains why a public showing can affect a later application and what to ask before an expo, a paper or a pitch.

Result: The guide is the page a nervous inventor lands on and then reads to the end.

  4. Clean page titles and headings

Every page gets a title and heading that name the field and the service in the words a searcher uses.

Result: Search results show a page title that matches the question.

  5. Technical checks on the site

Speed on a phone, page structure, links between field pages and the guide, and a sitemap that search engines can read.

Result: A short list of what was fixed, page by page.

How the result is measured

  • Ranking positions
  • Organic traffic
  • Enquiries from organic search

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

How the search engine optimisation work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Audit and baseline

We record where the site stands today: positions, traffic, technical faults and the enquiries search currently produces. Nothing starts until this number is written down.

  2. 2

    Decide what to rank for

We map the searches your buyers use, in your words and theirs, and pick the ones worth the effort for your margin and your capacity.

  3. 3

    Fix the foundations

Technical faults first, because the cheapest gains are usually there. Then the Business Profile and directory consistency.

  4. 4

    Build the pages

A page for each thing you do, written to answer the question it is searched for, with a clear next step at the end.

  5. 5

    Publish and earn mentions

Content goes out on the calendar. Links and mentions are earned from real relationships, not bought.

  6. 6

    Measure, report, adjust

At the interval agreed at the start we report what moved and what did not, and change the plan when the numbers say so.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 1, prospecting and lead generation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Which keywords should a patent attorney aim for?
Field plus patent, and the questions around disclosure and filing. Which of them carry real searches is something to check against actual search data for your fields, not assume.
Does a blog help a patent practice?
A post helps when it answers a question an inventor really asks, written by someone who knows the field. A post that repeats the Patent Office's own guidance adds little. Advertising rules differ by profession and by state, so check with your own council or adviser before you publish.
Can we rank above bigger firms?
Nobody can promise a position. A practice with a narrow set of fields and detailed pages has a better case against a generalist firm than one with a thin page on everything.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
