Patent attorneys · Social media

Use social media to be known by research heads and founders, not to chase likes.

Social media for a patent practice means a small, steady presence where research heads, founders and technology transfer officers already read. GullySales works on LinkedIn profiles, the subjects posted and the way replies are handled, within the rules of the profession.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What social media means

Social media is the ongoing posting your business does on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn to stay visible to customers and prospects between purchases. GullySales plans a posting calendar, writes captions and designs the images so the page looks active and answers what a visitor would ask.

For patent attorneys

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “LinkedIn is where the institutional reader is”

A technology transfer officer or an R&D head reads LinkedIn for work. Instagram and short video reach students, but the person who empanels an attorney is rarely there for that purpose.

  • “Posts about the invention process travel further than posts about the firm”

An explanation of why a provisional filing is not the end, or what an examiner asks, is something a founder shares with a co-founder. A post announcing the office address is read by nobody.

  • “Never post anything an inventor told you”

Client matters are confidential, and an unpublished invention is the most sensitive of all. Posts describe the kind of work, never the client or the product. Check the professional rules on what a profile may say.

What we do

What we deliver for patent attorneys.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Profiles for the attorneys

A profile for each attorney stating the technical degree, the fields and the kind of filings handled.

Result: Visiting a profile tells a founder whether the attorney understands the field.

  2. A set of recurring post subjects

Disclosure before filing, reading an examination report, prior art searches and choosing between a patent and other protection.

Result: A written list of subjects the practice posts about, each with an attorney who reviews it.

  3. A review step for every post

An attorney reads each post for accuracy, confidentiality and compliance before it goes out.

Result: No post leaves without a named reviewer.

  4. A reply routine for comments and messages

Questions that arrive in comments or direct messages are moved to the intake sheet, with no advice given in public.

Result: Every message is logged with its source.

  5. Connections with institutions

A list of technology transfer officers, incubator managers and research heads to follow and engage with in a professional way.

Result: A record of who was approached and what came of it.

How the result is measured

  • Posts published
  • Engagement rate
  • Enquiries from social profiles

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

How the social media work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Understand your audience and platforms

We identify which platforms your specific buyers actually use and what kind of content they respond to.

  2. 2

    Audit current presence

We review existing pages, past content performance and any gaps in consistency.

  3. 3

    Build the content calendar

A plan is created, balancing genuine value with occasional direct offers.

  4. 4

    Implement and post

Content is created and published consistently on the agreed schedule.

  5. 5

    Measure and optimise

We track enquiries alongside engagement and adjust the content mix based on what actually performs.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should the practice have a firm page or personal profiles?
Both, but the personal profile does more work. Inventors choose an attorney for technical judgement, and a person is easier to judge than a logo.
Can we post about a patent we obtained?
Published applications are public, but client permission and professional rules still apply. Describe the type of work and leave out the client's name unless permission is written down. Advertising rules differ by profession and by state, so check with your own council or adviser before you publish.
How often should we post?
Choose a rhythm the attorneys can keep up. A few well-reviewed posts that are kept going are worth more than a burst that stops when the filing season starts.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
