Furniture stores and retailers · Sales training

Train showroom staff to close, not just describe the product.

Sales training for a furniture store teaches staff to understand the buyer's room and budget, recommend confidently, and follow up walk-ins who did not order. GullySales trains your actual showroom and phone staff on your actual range, not a generic sales script.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What sales training means

Sales training teaches a sales team a skill it does not yet have, such as handling a specific objection or running a proper site visit, usually through a structured session. GullySales runs these sessions around real objections and calls from your business rather than generic sales theory.

For furniture stores and retailers

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Staff ask about the room, not just the product”

Understanding the space and existing furniture helps staff recommend pieces that actually fit.

  • “Following up a walk-in is a trained habit”

Staff note contact details and follow up within a day, rather than waiting for the customer to return.

  • “Upselling add-ons is a scripted moment”

A brief, honest mention of protection plans or premium delivery, offered once, adds value without pressure.

What we do

What we deliver for furniture stores and retailers.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Room-first questioning technique

Training staff to ask about the customer's room and existing furniture before recommending a piece.

Result: Staff recommend pieces that actually fit the customer's space.

  2. Walk-in follow-up habit

A trained habit of noting contact details and following up with a walk-in soon after they leave.

Result: A walk-in is followed up instead of waiting to be remembered.

  3. Add-on offer script

A brief, honest script for mentioning protection plans or premium delivery once, without repeated pressure.

Result: An add-on gets offered without the customer feeling pushed.

  4. Real walk-in review sessions

Follow-up review sessions using your team's actual recent walk-ins, not hypothetical scenarios.

Result: Training sticks because it is built on real conversations.

How the result is measured

  • Skill assessment scores
  • Objection handling improvement
  • Conversion rate after training

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Situations to practise

Six showroom conversations a furniture store should practise, and what good looks like.

A walk-in says they are just looking
Ask one question about the room: which room, and what is in it now. Then let them browse. Practise stepping back after the question.
The customer is unsure about size
Ask them to measure and share the dimensions on WhatsApp. Offer a simple measuring sheet. Practise saying bring the room size without making it sound like homework.
Online, the same sofa costs less
Compare what is included: delivery, assembly, warranty, returns, who to call. Practise this without matching the price straight away.
The add-on at billing
Ask a single question, such as whether they have a mattress protector or cushions, instead of listing extras. Practise one add-on for each main product.
A walk-in left without buying
Call about the exact item, and offer to hold the fabric swatch or share a photo. Practise using the register entry so the call is specific.
A customer is upset about a delay or a scratch
Acknowledge, check the order in front of them, say who will call back and say what will be done. Practise not blaming the factory or the transporter.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the sales training work runs

  1. 1

    Assess current skill levels

We review the team's current strengths and gaps, by observing calls and talking to managers.

  2. 2

    Build the curriculum

Content is developed around your product, customers and sales cycle.

  3. 3

    Schedule and deliver

Sessions run on a set calendar, with practice built into each one.

  4. 4

    Check understanding

Short knowledge checks confirm what has actually stuck.

  5. 5

    Review and refresh

The curriculum is revisited periodically and refresher sessions are run for the wider team.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Who typically needs this training?
All showroom and phone staff, since most orders are won or lost in that first conversation.
How long does training take?
A short session on the process, plus a few follow-up reviews of real walk-ins over a month.
Staff earn commission and compete for walk-ins. Can training help?
It can, but settle the rule first. Agree who owns a walk-in, who follows up, and what happens when a customer returns on another day. Then train to that rule. Practice does not fix an unclear rule.
How do we know staff are following up on walk-ins?
Keep a simple walk-in register with name, number, item and follow-up note, and have the manager read it. In principle your own register shows who follows up, and what became of those customers.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
