Grocery stores and supermarkets · Local SEO

Be the nearest grocery store on the map, and the one that looks open.

Local SEO for a grocery store means being found by the families who live within walking or delivery distance when they search on a phone. GullySales fixes the Business Profile, the listings and the reviews that decide who appears on the map.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What local SEO means

Local SEO is the work of making your business show up for searches that name your town or locality, such as a service plus an area name. GullySales sets up locality pages, local citations and map listings so nearby customers find you before a competitor across town.

Last updated 11 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.

For grocery stores and supermarkets

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “A competitor with more photographs wins the click”

Two stores sit on the same road, and the one with recent photographs, current timings and a few dozen reviews is the one the family calls.

  • “Several branches share one confused listing”

A small chain with three stores gets calls meant for one branch at another, because the names and numbers do not match.

  • “Delivery area is stated nowhere”

A family searching from a tower cannot tell whether the store delivers there, and calls the one that says so.

What we do

What we deliver for grocery stores and supermarkets.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Business Profile set up for each store

A profile per outlet with its own phone, timings, categories, photographs of the entrance and the shelves, and a delivery area.

Result: Each branch is found for its own streets.

  2. A photograph routine kept by the store

A short list of what to photograph, such as new fresh stock, the counter, the parking and the festival display, and who uploads it.

Result: The listing looks alive instead of abandoned.

  3. Posts for festivals and fresh arrivals

Short profile posts for Diwali hampers, Ugadi, Onam, Pongal and Eid, and for fresh stock arriving.

Result: A family sees that the store is active this week.

  4. Reviews asked for and answered

A simple way to ask a family at billing or after delivery, a reply for each review, and a record of what customers raise.

Result: The review count grows through your own customers.

  5. Directory clean-up

Name, address and phone made identical on Google, JustDial, Sulekha, Facebook and the map apps, with duplicate listings claimed or reported.

Result: A family cannot reach the wrong number.

  6. Reporting on calls, directions and orders

Calls, direction requests, WhatsApp taps and visits from the profile, set against the baseline from before the work began.

Result: You see how many families the listing brings to your door.

How the result is measured

  • Map pack ranking
  • Local search visibility
  • Enquiries by locality

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What Google weighs here

Why one grocery store shows above another on the map, and what you control.

Relevance: categories and what the profile says you sell
Pick Grocery store or Supermarket as the main category, add Fruit and vegetable store or Dairy only if you really stock them, and list real products and services.
Distance: where the searcher stands
You cannot move your shop, but you can state your delivery area, so a family farther out sees that you reach their street.
Prominence: reviews, photographs and mentions
Ask each happy family for a review at billing or after delivery, reply to every review, and add recent photographs. Never pay or offer a discount for a review.
JustDial, Sulekha and map apps
Claim the listing on each, correct the timings and phone, and ignore sites that ask for fees to improve ranking without showing what you get.
Name, address and phone, written one way
Choose one spelling of the store name and one address format, then use it on Google, your site, your bills and every directory. Check the PIN code and the landmark.

Who it is for

This is written for these grocery stores and supermarkets.

  • Neighbourhood kirana and provision stores
  • Supermarkets of one or two floors in a locality
  • Small chains of three to ten stores in one city
  • Fruits, vegetables and fresh produce stores
  • Organic and natural food stores
  • Milk booths and bakeries that also carry provisions
  • Stores inside gated communities, where the association decides who delivers
  • Imported and specialty food stores

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the local SEO work runs

  1. 1

    Audit every listing

We check the Google Business Profile and directory listings for every branch against what should actually be shown.

  2. 2

    Complete and correct

Profiles are filled in fully and inconsistent details are corrected across every directory found.

  3. 3

    Build location pages

Each branch gets a page written for its own area, not a copy of the head office page with the address changed.

  4. 4

    Set up review handling

A simple process for requesting and responding to reviews is put in place with whoever is closest to the customer.

  5. 5

    Report and adjust

Map actions and enquiries per branch are reported, and branches falling behind are prioritised the next month.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Can we list a delivery-only dark store with no shop front?
Possibly, as a service-area business, but check Google's current guidelines for eligibility. If customers cannot visit, the address is usually hidden and the delivery area is shown instead.
A competitor has put fake reviews on our listing. What can we do?
Flag each review to Google with a clear reason, keep screenshots, and reply politely so other readers see the other side. Removal is Google's decision and cannot be promised.
What if two of our stores share one phone number?
Give each store its own number if you can. If not, state the store's name in the greeting and use different tracking where possible, so that calls reach the right branch.
Our building has several shops with similar names. Will Google mix them up?
It can. Use the exact registered name, a clear landmark and your own photographs of the signboard, and keep the address format the same on every listing.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
