Grocery stores and supermarkets · Search engine optimisation

Be the grocery store that comes up when a family types what it needs.

SEO for a grocery store means a search for your locality, your products or your delivery area leads to your own pages and not only to an app or a directory. GullySales builds the pages and the Business Profile that a family reads before choosing you.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What search engine optimisation means

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the work of getting your website to appear when a buyer searches Google for what you sell. GullySales builds pages around real search terms, fixes technical issues that block ranking, and tracks which searches actually bring enquiries.

Last updated 11 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.

For grocery stores and supermarkets

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Apps and directories rank above the store”

A search for groceries in a locality shows apps, aggregators and listing sites first, and your own store sits further down with no page of its own.

  • “One page tries to describe the whole store”

A single home page cannot answer fruits and vegetables delivery, organic atta or festival hampers, so none of those searches reach you.

  • “The page forgets that families search by locality”

Families type the locality and the tower name, and a page that names only the city loses to a competitor whose page names the street.

What we do

What we deliver for grocery stores and supermarkets.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A page for each delivery area

A page per locality and apartment cluster you serve, with the delivery radius, the order cut-off and the usual items, written for that area.

Result: A family in a tower finds the page that says you deliver there.

  2. A page for each product group

Separate pages for fruits and vegetables, organic and millet staples, dairy and bakery, and festival hampers, with what is in stock.

Result: A search for an exact need lands on an exact page.

  3. A bulk and function order page

Quantities, rate sheet request, delivery for weddings, functions, PGs and offices, and a simple form that reaches one named person.

Result: A caterer or a hostel owner can ask for a rate in one step.

  4. A Business Profile linked to the right page

The profile points to the matching store page, with timings, delivery area and categories that agree with the website.

Result: Search, maps and the site tell the same story.

  5. A site a phone can read in a shop

Short pages, a tap-to-call button and a WhatsApp link, so a family with one hand on the trolley can reach the store.

Result: A visit from the shelf aisle turns into an order.

  6. Reporting by area and product page

Visits, calls, WhatsApp taps and orders per area page and per product page, against the baseline recorded before work starts.

Result: You know which areas and products bring families.

How the result is measured

  • Ranking positions
  • Organic traffic
  • Enquiries from organic search

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Searches your families type

What a family types when it needs groceries nearby, and the page that answers it.

grocery store near me open now
Answered by the Business Profile, not a page. Check that the timings are right, the Sunday and festival hours are set, and the phone number reaches the counter.
grocery home delivery in [your locality]
A locality page. Name the streets and towers, the cut-off for same-day delivery, the minimum order, and how a family sends a list on WhatsApp.
fresh vegetables and fruits delivery in [locality]
A fresh produce page. Say what arrives that morning, how substitutions are agreed, and where the produce is sourced, as an owner would say it across the counter.
organic atta and millets store near me
A product group page. List the brands and loose items you actually stock, with pack sizes, and avoid health claims that you cannot back.
monthly ration list delivery
A ration list page. Explain how to send the list, how a standing order is set up, how payment works and what happens when an item is out of stock.
bulk grocery supplier for PG and hostel
A bulk page. State the items, the pack sizes, how often a delivery can be arranged and a form that asks for headcount and address.

Who it is for

This is written for these grocery stores and supermarkets.

  • Neighbourhood kirana and provision stores
  • Supermarkets of one or two floors in a locality
  • Small chains of three to ten stores in one city
  • Fruits, vegetables and fresh produce stores
  • Organic and natural food stores
  • Milk booths and bakeries that also carry provisions
  • Stores inside gated communities, where the association decides who delivers
  • Imported and specialty food stores

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the search engine optimisation work runs

  1. 1

    Audit and baseline

We record where the site stands today: positions, traffic, technical faults and the enquiries search currently produces. Nothing starts until this number is written down.

  2. 2

    Decide what to rank for

We map the searches your buyers use, in your words and theirs, and pick the ones worth the effort for your margin and your capacity.

  3. 3

    Fix the foundations

Technical faults first, because the cheapest gains are usually there. Then the Business Profile and directory consistency.

  4. 4

    Build the pages

A page for each thing you do, written to answer the question it is searched for, with a clear next step at the end.

  5. 5

    Publish and earn mentions

Content goes out on the calendar. Links and mentions are earned from real relationships, not bought.

  6. 6

    Measure, report, adjust

At the interval agreed at the start we report what moved and what did not, and change the plan when the numbers say so.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Do we need a website if we already take orders on WhatsApp?
Yes, a small one. A family searching for a store reads the page before it sends a list. The page states the delivery area, the timings and how to order, and links straight to your WhatsApp number.
Should we put every product on the website?
No. Put the groups people search for, with a few lines on what you stock, and keep the full price list on the WhatsApp catalogue where it is easier to keep current.
Should we write blog posts about recipes and festivals?
Only if they lead to something you sell. A festival hamper page that lists contents and an order route does more than a recipe that sends a reader to a food blog.
Who owns the website and the listing if we change agency?
You do. The domain, the Business Profile and the hosting should be in your name. We will ask for the accounts to be set up that way at the start.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
