Engineering R&D and embedded systems service companies · Digital marketing

Aim narrowly at engineers and product heads; broad reach is wasted here.

Digital marketing for an engineering services firm is a small mix of search, LinkedIn, events and email aimed at a few hundred roles. GullySales plans it around a narrow audience and a long cycle.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What digital marketing means

Digital marketing is the combined work of search, social media, advertising and website channels running together rather than as separate projects with separate people. GullySales runs these as one connected system so a change in one channel, such as a new offer, is reflected everywhere at once.

For engineering R&D and embedded systems service companies

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The audience is small”

There are few R&D heads in each domain. Broad campaigns waste spend and reach students and job seekers. A handful of domains, such as automotive, medical and industrial automation, make up the real audience, and broad targeting spends money on everyone else.

  • “Technical terms attract the wrong clicks”

Searches for embedded or firmware draw learners and job seekers. Landing pages and exclusions must filter. Terms such as embedded or firmware draw students and job seekers, so landing pages must say who the service is for and the campaign must exclude job and course words.

  • “Events outweigh ads for some domains”

Automotive and medical buyers meet vendors at expos. A digital plan should serve the event, before and after. Visitors to an automotive or medical expo should meet the firm online first, through a booked-meeting page, and be followed up with a note on what was discussed.

  • “One campaign is judged on leads, not projects”

A form fill from a student looks like success. Only a statement of work is. A student's form fill is a lead; a signed statement of work is a project; the report should follow each enquiry from click to contract.

What we do

What we deliver for engineering R&D and embedded systems service companies.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A narrow channel plan

A plan of search, LinkedIn, email and event support for named domains.

Result: Spend reaches the people who buy.

  2. Search campaigns on specific tasks

Campaigns on tasks and domains with exclusions for learners.

    Result: Clicks come from buyers.

  3. LinkedIn lists for R&D heads

Campaigns to named roles in chosen companies with an offer such as a design review.

Result: The right people see the firm.

  4. Event support

    Pre-event outreach, a landing page and a follow-up sequence.

Result: Event contacts are recorded and followed.

  5. Reporting to statements of work

A report tying channels to opportunities and wins.

Result: Results are projects, not clicks.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries across channels
  • Cost per enquiry overall
  • Channel mix by contribution

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

How the digital marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

    Understand the objective

We agree the one thing this campaign needs to achieve before choosing any channel.

  2. 2

    Audit available channels

We assess which channels are realistic to run well within the budget and timeline.

  3. 3

    Strategise the central idea

One message and offer is developed that will work across every planned channel.

  4. 4

    Implement across channels

Each channel receives its own adapted version, launched on a shared timeline.

  5. 5

    Measure as one campaign

Results from every channel are combined into a single report against the original objective.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Should a small firm run paid search?
Only on narrow, well-tested terms with a landing page. Start with the site, content and referral routes. Begin with the site, the content and referral routes, and add paid search only when a landing page and a tracked enquiry route are ready.
How do we measure digital work?
By opportunities and statements of work from each channel, over the length of the sales cycle. Count the opportunities and the statements of work each channel produced, and judge it after enough time for a sale to complete.
Do we need an agency?
Brief any agency on the narrow audience and long cycle. A general agency sells reach the firm does not need. Give any agency the audience size, the cycle length and the exclusion list in the brief, and ask how it will report enquiries to contracts.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
