Software development companies · WhatsApp marketing

Use WhatsApp for the conversations a software buyer wants to have in a hurry.

WhatsApp marketing for a software development company means using the app to answer enquiries, share case study links and keep client conversations moving, within the platform's rules. GullySales builds the message templates, the labelling habit and the hand-off to your CRM, with the buyer's consent as the starting point.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What WhatsApp marketing means

WhatsApp marketing is sending updates, offers and reminders to customers on the app most Indian buyers already check daily. GullySales sets up business WhatsApp, writes the message templates and keeps the list consented and current.

For software development companies

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Indian SME buyers prefer a message to a form”

A distributor or a clinic owner looking for a system will send a WhatsApp message after seeing a post or a referral. They want a person to answer. A website with only an email form loses that owner to a firm that listed a business number.

  • “Technical reviewers do not want a chat for scope”

A CTO weighing your architecture needs a document and a call, not a thread of forwarded voice notes. WhatsApp suits scheduling, quick questions and sharing links. Scope, pricing and contract terms should move to email so the record is clean.

  • “Client groups blur the line between support and scope”

A shared group with a client is convenient and fills up with small requests that never reach the project plan. Set a rule on what the group is for and where change requests go, otherwise free work accumulates.

  • “Broadcast messages to strangers damage a small firm's name”

Sending bulk promotions to scraped numbers leads to blocks and complaints. Message people who have asked to hear from you, tell them what to expect, and check the platform's current rules before any broadcast.

What we do

What we deliver for software development companies.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A business profile and a first-reply script

A set-up WhatsApp Business profile with catalogue-style descriptions of your services, and a reply script that asks for the problem, the domain and the decision date.

Result: A new enquirer gets a clear first reply from a person.

  2. Message templates for common moments

Short, editable messages for call reminders, document sharing and post-launch check-ins, written so the buyer can reply in a line.

Result: The team stops retyping the same messages.

  3. Labelling and CRM hand-off

A labelling scheme in the app and a routine for logging each conversation into the CRM with its next action.

Result: No enquiry lives only on one phone.

  4. Client group rules

A short note for each client group stating its purpose, who answers and where change requests are raised.

Result: Requests reach the plan instead of disappearing into chat.

  5. Opt-in routine for updates

A method for asking clients and prospects whether they want occasional updates, with a record of who agreed.

Result: You message only people who said yes.

How the result is measured

  • Messages delivered
  • Reply rate
  • Enquiries from WhatsApp

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to capture or send

The messages a software firm's business number should be ready for.

First reply to an enquiry
A message that thanks the buyer, asks for the problem in a line and offers a call time. It moves the talk off chat and onto a discovery call.
NDA request
A short template asking which party's NDA to use and who signs. It spares the founder the same explanation each time.
Call confirmation
A message with the date, the video link and who from your side will join. Technical reviewers want to know in advance.
Document hand-off
A note pointing to the proposal or scope sheet by email, with a line saying that terms live in the document and not in the chat.
Client group rules
A pinned message in a client group saying which topics go to support and which to the project manager, to stop scope arriving as a chat.
Out-of-hours note
A line giving the working hours and the time zone you cover, useful to an overseas buyer who writes at night.

Who it is for

This is written for these software development companies.

  • Custom software development companies
  • Mobile app developers for Android and iOS
  • Product engineering firms working with startups
  • IT consultants and technology advisers
  • SaaS product companies selling to Indian businesses
  • Offshore development centres serving overseas clients
  • Firms specialising in one domain, such as healthcare, logistics or fintech
  • Low-code and automation developers
  • Software firms bidding for government work on GeM

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You plan to broadcast offers to people who never asked for them, which would harm a small firm's name.
  • The business number is a developer's personal phone and will leave with them.
  • You expect to settle scope and price in chat without a written document.

How it works

How the whatsapp marketing work runs

The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.

  1. 1

Read the chats you already have

We read how customers write to you, which questions repeat and where a chat goes quiet. The repeated questions decide what gets automated first.

  2. 2

Sort the list and the permission

Contacts who asked to hear from you are separated from numbers that only sit in a phone book. We agree the wording new contacts will see before they say yes.

  3. 3

Choose the app or the API

One phone and a small team can stay on the ordinary app. Several people on one number, templates or a CRM link need the API through a provider, which is its own piece of setup work.

  4. 4

Write the replies and the plan

The greeting, away message, saved replies and handover rule are written in your words and approved by you. The message plan and its templates follow.

  5. 5

    Connect the record and test

Each link carries its source line and each chat lands in the CRM. We test on real phones, including a customer who asks for a person.

  6. 6

    Read the unanswered questions

A question the first reply could not answer becomes a new saved reply or a fixed handover. Stop requests are watched too, with the number's quality rating where the API is used, since both show a message plan that has gone too far.

Where this fits

Three pieces of sales work, in this order.

This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 0, foundation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.

  1. Step 1

    Sales audit

Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.

Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.

  2. Step 2 · you are here

    Sales process design

One written way to sell, from first enquiry to repeat order.

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.

  3. Step 3

    Sales management

A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.

Start here if the team has targets and no routine.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Is a WhatsApp Business account enough for a software firm?
For enquiries and follow-up, yes. It gives a business profile, labels and quick replies. Larger programmes of broadcast messages need the platform's business API and a provider; check the platform's current rules before planning that.
Should we put contracts and quotes on WhatsApp?
Share a link to the proposal if it helps, but keep the agreement, scope and change requests in email or your project tool. WhatsApp is hard to search months later, and a clean record protects both sides.
Can we reach overseas buyers on WhatsApp?
Some buyers, especially in the Gulf, prefer it. Ask the prospect which channel they use rather than assuming, and keep a written follow-up by email for anything contractual.
Should a client group include the developers?
Include the project manager and one lead, not the whole team. A group with every developer becomes a support line, and scope arrives as a casual message. Set a pinned rule on what goes where, and move any change request into a written note.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
