CRM, lead flow and sales techniques · Content as a sales tool

Write the email in the buyer's language, then cut it by a third.

A sales writing checklist is a one-page list your team runs before sending a blog post, sales email or proposal. It has three parts: what to settle before writing, how to draft, and what to cut afterwards. This page sets out the checklist and how to keep it in use.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

A sales writing checklist is a one-page list your team runs before sending a blog post, sales email or proposal. It has three parts: what to settle before writing, how to draft, and what to cut afterwards. This page sets out the checklist and how to keep it in use.

A chartered accountancy firm in Indiranagar sends a proposal to a new client, a garment exporter. The partner wrote four pages in formal English and attached a fee schedule. The exporter's accounts head reads Kannada and Hindi comfortably and English slowly, and replies only to ask for a call.

Most poor sales writing is not a matter of grammar. The writer began typing before deciding what the reader should do next, wrote for themselves, and never cut anything. A checklist makes those three decisions visible.

The sales head owns the checklist and each writer runs it on their own piece. A second person reads anything that goes to a large account. It replaces the quick glance and send habit.

The email templates page gives you the reusable messages. The quotation and proposal page covers the document. This page is about the writing standard that sits behind both.

The work

What this is actually like.

  • “Decide the one action first”

Before writing a word, finish this sentence: after reading this, the buyer will ___. Reply, call, forward, sign. A piece with two asks gets neither. If you cannot finish the sentence, you are not ready to write.

  • “The buyer's language is a business decision”

If the buyer thinks in Tamil or Marathi and your email is in stiff English, you have added effort to the sale. Write in the language of the last reply you received, and keep the sentences short enough to translate in the head.

  • “The first two lines are the whole email on a phone”

Most mail is read in a notification preview. Put the point and the date in the first line. A greeting, a pleasantry and a self-introduction push the reason below the fold, where it is never read.

  • “Editing is deleting”

Take the draft, remove every sentence that the reader would not miss, and read it aloud. A proposal that lost a third of its length is faster to approve, because the reader reaches the price sooner.

What we do

What you end up with.

The documents this topic produces, what each one is for, and how you know it is finished.

  1. The prewrite box

Four lines filled before drafting: who is reading, what they already know, the one action wanted, and the two facts that will persuade them. Keep it on a sticky note or the top of the draft.

Result: Finished when the one action fits in a single short sentence.

  2. The drafting rules

A short list: lead with the point, one idea per paragraph, numbers instead of adjectives, no sentence over twenty-five words. Write fast and mark gaps with a bracket instead of stopping.

Result: Finished when a draft exists within fifteen minutes of starting.

  3. The edit pass

Read aloud, delete, check names, dates, amounts and the phone number, and check the reader's language. A second reader checks only the first two lines and the ask.

Result: Finished when the piece is shorter than the draft and the amounts match the quote.

  4. The one-page checklist

The three sections above on a single page, printed or pinned in the group chat. Add a line for the sender's name and the time, so a message does not go out half-checked.

Result: Finished when every writer can show a ticked copy for their last proposal.

  5. The sample bank

Five sent pieces that worked, with the reason beside each. New joiners read these before they write their own.

Result: Finished when a new hire can describe what the good examples have in common.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Does a checklist make writing stiff?
Not if it is short. The checklist governs decisions, not phrasing. It asks what you want the reader to do and whether you cut enough, and leaves the voice to the writer.
Who checks proposals before they go out?
A second person from the team reads anything above a figure the owner sets, such as a quote above a certain value. For small replies, the writer's own run through the checklist is enough.
Which language should we write in?
The language the buyer wrote their last message in, or the one they used on the phone. If you are unsure, send a short note in English and ask which language they prefer for documents.
How long should a sales email be?
Short enough to read without scrolling on a phone. If it needs more room, put the detail in an attached PDF and keep the email to the ask and one reason.
Do blog posts follow the same checklist?
Yes, with a longer prewrite: two sources you can name, and a question the reader types into search. The edit rules are the same.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts. For sales work it is mostly our time, with production only where scripts, decks or CRM setup need it.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
To start, last month's enquiries in any format and time with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
