E-commerce · Food and drink
Customers like our drink, but they would rather buy it from the shop next door.
A drink is cheap, heavy and easy to buy anywhere. A buyer who can pick up a bottle of cola at the corner shop will not order it online unless the seller gives a reason, and the courier charge on a crate of juice or a case of water makes the sum worse. The beverage seller online has to say what a shop cannot.
A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.
In one paragraph
Beverage e-commerce is the online sale of coffee, tea, soft drinks, juices, bottled water and energy drinks, by estates, blenders, bottlers and brands, to households, offices and gift buyers. GullySales works on how a drink brand is found and explained online, how heavy and low-value orders are made to pay, and how a first purchase becomes a repeat one.
That reason depends on the drink. Coffee and tea sell on origin, roast, blend and the story of the estate. Juices and soft drinks sell on flavour, convenience and pack size. Water and sports drinks sell on trust, on delivery to the door and on repeat for a household or office.
Each of the six sub-categories has its own buyer, and most of the work in this segment is finding which of them your product can win.
Last updated 7 Oct 2026. Product, labelling and advertising rules for beverages differ by product and change. We describe them in general terms, so check the current position with your own adviser or the regulator before you publish a claim.
6 types of product
Each kind of beverages sells differently, so each has its own page.
Open the one that matches what you sell. It covers who buys it, where the sale is lost and what we would do.
- CoffeePeople who love filter coffee will not order it online if we cannot say how it is ground.
- TeaOur estate has a famous name, but buyers cannot tell our tea from the next one.
- Soft DrinksA case of soda costs more to deliver than to make, and the buyer knows it.
- JuicesBuyers ask whether our juice is real, and we cannot answer in one line.
- Bottled WaterHouseholds will pay for a can at the door, so long as it comes when it is promised.
- Energy & Sports DrinksThe drink was made for runners, but the people ordering it are students and drivers.
Who it is for
This is written for you if you sell beverages online.
- Coffee and tea estates, roasters and blenders selling directly to buyers
- Juice, soft drink and packaged beverage brands selling cases through marketplaces and quick-commerce
- Bottled water suppliers who deliver to homes and offices by the can
- Energy and sports drink brands building a direct customer list
- Gift sellers who pack tea and coffee boxes for festivals and offices
Not for
It is not the right fit if.
- A brand that wants to compete with the national soft drink names on price and reach, with no story of its own
- A seller whose product cannot be delivered in a condition the buyer expects, such as juice that spoils in transit
How buyers choose
What decides who wins in beverages.
The flavour and the name
Buyers search for a taste, a flavour name, a variety or a blend. They want to know what it is like before they buy, and a description that says so beats a catchy name.
Pack size and price per litre or per cup
A buyer works out the cost per bottle, per litre or per cup, and compares it with the shop. Without the unit price on the page, they do the arithmetic wrong or leave.
Ingredients and the label
Sugar, sweeteners, caffeine and preservatives are read closely by households. Claims on a beverage are regulated and your adviser decides what the page may say.
Delivery weight and how fresh it is
Drinks are heavy, and the buyer wants the delivery to be free above a certain basket. For anything that spoils or goes flat, they want to see a date.
Where sales are lost
What usually goes wrong when you sell beverages online.
In the words sellers use on the first call.
“Delivery costs more than the drink”
A single bottle or a small packet with a courier fee is not an order. Cases, bundles and a subscription are the only way a low-value drink pays online.
“People try us once and go back to what they know”
A beverage is a habit, and a habit moves slowly. A trial pack and a reminder at the right moment are what a new brand has to work with.
“Our product is damaged or spills in transit”
Glass breaks, cans dent and cartons leak. Packing and the carrier decide this, and a refund policy that is stated plainly keeps the account.
The scope
The work we would propose for beverages.
Measured on purchases, conversion rate, cost to win a customer, average order value and repeat purchases. Anything here that needs a platform or tool we have not used with you is confirmed in the audit before it goes in the scope.
- A pack, case and subscription structureA page that offers single packs, cases and a repeat delivery, with the unit price shown. We check in the audit how far your store software can do this.
- Flavour and origin pagesPages for each flavour, blend or estate, written around how people search: filter coffee powder, Darjeeling first flush, tender coconut water, sparkling lime.
- Marketplace and quick-commerce listingsTitles, first images and pack counts for the platforms where drinks are bought. The audit settles which of those platforms are worth your stock.
- Trial packs and samplingA first pack priced so the cost of winning a buyer is known before spend begins, with a plan for the second order.
- Gifting and office ordersA page and form for companies buying gift boxes or stocking an office pantry, with quantities, dates and branding.
What we do
What you get for beverages.
Each deliverable and what it is there to change.
A unit price table
Price per litre, per bottle or per cup for every pack, shown beside the pack price, so the comparison with a shop is done for the buyer.
A trial pack and a repeat plan
The first pack, its price, and the message that goes out around the time it would be finished.
A delivery and packing standard
How cartons, bottles and cans are packed and which carrier carries them, with a clear policy for a damaged order.
A flavour or blend guide
A plain description of each drink, in the words a buyer would use at home, for the page, the pack insert and WhatsApp replies.

What the work involves for beverages
- 1
Find the product that has a reason to be online
In the free audit we look at your range, your orders and your delivery cost to see which drinks make sense to sell by post.
- 2
Set the pack and the price
Cases, trial packs and a repeat order are shaped so that delivery is not larger than the margin.
- 3
Fix the page and the listing
Flavour, origin, unit price and packing go onto the pages you have, before any spend.
- 4
Win the second order
A reminder and a reorder path set up for the first buyers, with the baseline of orders and repeats recorded first.
- 5
Measure against the baseline
Results are reported against the baseline, and the way and timing of reporting are agreed in writing after the audit.
What we need from you
What to have ready before the audit call.
None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.
- Your product range, pack sizes and prices
- Your store and marketplace listings and which sell best
- Complaints about damage, leaks or taste
- Orders by city and by pack, with repeat buyers marked
- Recent ad spend and the platforms it ran on
- Your delivery partners and any minimum order you apply
Selling in India and abroad
Selling beverages beyond your own market.
Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.
Coffee and tea travel; most other drinks do not
Whole beans, ground coffee and leaf tea are light, dry and have a long shelf life, so they are sold abroad. Carbonated and fresh drinks are heavy and are normally sold through distributors, not by courier.
Labels, units and rules
Ingredient lists, allergen labels, litres or ounces on the pack and the rules on caffeine or additives differ by country. Your adviser confirms them for each destination before a campaign begins.

Why us
Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.
Marketing and sales, as one job
Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.
The person on the first call does the work
No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.
A baseline before anything starts
Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.
The fee in writing, split three ways
Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.
No guarantees we cannot keep
The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.
One office, and we say so
Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.
