Banks · Community building

Bring small business owners in a market together, and the bank joins the conversation.

Community building for a bank means creating a space, a WhatsApp group, a meet-up or a literacy session, where customers in a market connect with each other. Through that, they connect with the bank too. GullySales sets this up around a real shared interest, not a marketing pretext.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What community building means

Community building is creating a group, such as a WhatsApp group or a customer forum, where your customers interact with each other and your business. This builds loyalty that outlasts a single purchase. GullySales sets up and moderates this space so it stays useful rather than going quiet.

For banks

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “A trader community group works when it solves a real problem”

A WhatsApp group for market traders sharing GST filing deadlines or scheme updates earns its place because it is useful, and the bank's presence there feels natural rather than intrusive.

  • “Financial literacy sessions build trust before any product pitch”

A session explaining how to read a loan statement or use UPI safely, held at a local community hall, builds goodwill that a product advertisement cannot replicate.

  • “Women's self-help group linkages are an established community channel”

Supporting a self-help group with banking access and financial literacy is both a genuine community contribution and a channel that regularly leads to further banking relationships.

What we do

What we deliver for banks.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Trader or resident WhatsApp group setup

A group for a market or locality built around a genuinely useful purpose, such as GST filing reminders, with the bank present but understated.

Result: The bank becomes part of a conversation customers already want.

  2. Financial literacy session content and materials

A session plan and handouts on reading a loan statement or using UPI safely, ready for a community hall or self-help group meeting.

Result: Attendees leave with something useful, whether or not they bank with you.

  3. Self-help group linkage materials

Simple materials explaining account and credit access for a women's self-help group, written for a first-time banking audience.

Result: A group gets a genuine introduction to banking, not a sales pitch.

  4. Community activity tracked to referrals

A record linking new accounts and enquiries back to a specific community activity, tracked over a longer period than a typical campaign.

Result: You know which community effort is actually building relationships.

How the result is measured

  • Active members
  • Engagement rate
  • Referrals or repeat business from the community

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Rules for a trader WhatsApp group

Agree these rules before the bank starts a WhatsApp group for a market.

A group works when members trust it. Write the rules before the first invitation and post them as the first message.

Purpose in one line
State what the group is for, such as filing reminders and holiday timings for the traders of one market. A group with no stated purpose becomes forwards and noise.
Who is added and how
Add only people who have said yes, and name the relationship manager as the bank's admin. Never add customers by default from a database.
What the bank posts
Post useful, factual items, such as GST filing dates, bank holidays and clearing timings. Keep product messages to the occasional post that members have asked for.
What stays out of the group
No account numbers, documents, rate negotiation or loan discussion in the group. Say this in the rules and move any such question to a private chat or the branch.
Moderation and complaints
Name one admin, remove spam and send complaints to the branch's grievance route. Do not delete a genuine complaint, since members will see it vanish.
Logging referrals
When a member asks about a product, take it offline and log it with the source community, so the branch can show what the group produced.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the community building work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the shared interest

We identify what would genuinely bring your customers together beyond the transaction itself.

  2. 2

    Audit existing groups

We check whether an informal group already exists around your brand that could be formalised rather than started fresh.

  3. 3

    Strategise the format

We choose the platform and cadence that fits the size and habits of your audience.

  4. 4

    Implement and recruit

The group is set up and founding members are personally invited to give it early momentum.

  5. 5

    Measure and optimise

We track activity and adjust the content plan based on what members actually respond to.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Is this different from a marketing campaign?
Yes, the goal is a genuinely useful, ongoing space, and the branding stays understated so it does not feel like a promotional push.
How do we measure the return on this?
Through new relationships and referrals that trace back to the community activity, tracked over a longer period than a typical campaign.
Who should run the group, the bank manager or a trader?
Let the relationship manager be the bank's admin, and invite a respected trader to be a second admin. The trader keeps the group about the market, and the manager keeps it within the bank's rules. A group run only by the bank is read as advertising.
What if members complain about the bank in the group?
Reply politely, thank the member and give the branch's grievance route. Take the details to a private chat. Do not delete the post, and do not argue in public. A complaint answered in view of the group builds more trust than a silent group.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
