Manufacturing · Chemicals & Specialty Chemicals

Our product solves a problem, but the buyer searches for a number.

A specialty product is bought for what it does in someone else's process. The buyer does not know your brand, but knows their own problem: foaming, poor dispersion, a colour that fades, a cure that is too slow.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

Chemical quality specialists examine sealed samples in a plant laboratory

In one paragraph

Specialty chemicals are made for a performance, such as a dye, an additive, a finishing agent or a processing aid, not for their bulk. GullySales builds the application pages, trial process and technical follow-up that move a formulator from a sample to a standing order.

So the page that sells it is organised around the application and not around the molecule. A technical person lands on it, sees their problem named and asks for a sample.

Last updated 16 Oct 2026. Licence, certification, labelling and advertising rules for chemicals & specialty chemicals differ by product and change. We describe them in general terms, so check the current position with your own adviser or the regulator before you publish a claim.

Who it is for

This is written for you if specialty chemicals is what you make or sell.

  • Makers of additives, dyes, pigments, finishing agents and processing aids
  • Fine chemical units supplying formulators and brand owners
  • Producers who sell by application and trial, not by tonne
  • Plants with a technical team that visits customers

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A unit that cannot supply samples or technical help during a trial
  • A business whose product claims have not been checked by its own laboratory and adviser

How buyers choose

What decides the sale of specialty chemicals.

  1. Problem-led search

The buyer searches the problem or the function: dispersing agent for pigment paste, softener for cotton. The brand name comes later, if at all.

  2. A trial in their own process

A sample is tested on the buyer's line, in their formulation, with their water and their machine. The first result decides whether a second sample goes out.

  3. Technical data and a named contact

The buyer's chemist wants a technical data sheet with recommended dosage and compatibility, and someone to ring when the first batch behaves oddly.

  4. Switching cost

Changing a specialty input means retesting the product it goes into. A buyer needs a strong reason, and once switched, stays.

Where orders are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell specialty chemicals.

In the words owners use on the first call.

  • “They liked the sample and we never heard back”

The trial happened inside their plant and no one asked for the result. Months later they order from someone who did ask.

  • “Our product does five things and the website says all five”

A page for every possible use reads as vague. The buyer wants the page for their use.

  • “We lose to the big brand even when our product tests the same”

The buyer knows the multinational's technical support. A small maker has to show it has someone to ring.

The scope

The work we would propose for specialty chemicals.

Measured on qualified enquiries, quotation requests, follow-up on each quotation, trial orders won and repeat orders. Anything here that needs a platform, directory or tool we have not used with you is confirmed with you before it goes in the scope.

What we do

What you get for specialty chemicals.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. Application pages

Each names the problem in the buyer's words, so a technical visitor knows they are in the right place.

  2. A sample request form

Asks about the process, the current product and the volume, so a sample goes to a serious trial and not to a collector.

  3. A sample-to-result tracker

Lists each sample, the contact, the date and the result. It closes the gap that loses trial orders.

  4. A technical call guide

Gives your technical person the next question to ask, so every trial ends with a result recorded.

How the result is measured

  • Sample requests received
  • Samples with a recorded result
  • Trial orders won
  • Repeat orders after a trial
  • Qualified enquiries by application
  • Time from sample to first call

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What we need from you

What to have ready before we talk.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Product list with the function of each
  • Your technical data sheets and dosage guidance
  • The last few sample dispatches and what came of them
  • Customers who would let you describe their use
  • Industries where your product already sells

Export and new regions

Selling specialty chemicals beyond your home market.

Where you sell decides standards, documents, payment terms and freight. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new region we start from your own enquiries, your existing buyers and the directories you already use.

  1. Formulators and distributors overseas

Specialty products sell abroad through technical distributors and direct to formulators. We start from the export enquiries and agents you already have.

  2. Data and registration

Overseas buyers ask for safety data in their own format and sometimes registration. Which applies is for your regulatory adviser to confirm.

  3. Trade shows you already attend

A specialty chemicals show is where many technical buyers meet suppliers. We plan the follow-up of the contacts you collect there.

FAQ

Questions about selling specialty chemicals.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can I list my chemicals by CAS number?
Yes, if the number is correct and your laboratory confirms it. A buyer who searches by number finds the page directly, so check the entry twice.
How do I stop sample collectors?
Ask on the form what process the sample is for and what quantity they use. Someone with no answer is not a trial.
Do I need a separate page for each customer industry?
Only where the application differs. A textile processor and a paper mill need different pages, and two textile units do not.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on what is being changed and how many of the people who matter see it. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever the work touches, such as your profiles, your website or your accounts, and time with the people who can answer our questions.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

Engagement options

Ways to work with us.

Pick the size of commitment that fits. Every option starts with your brief and a conversation.

  1. Option 1

    The conversation on its own

A call after you send your brief. It says honestly whether you need outside help, and many fixes are ones your own team can make.

  2. Option 2

    One fix, scoped

Start with the fix that matters most, such as reply time or follow-up. The fee is in writing before anything starts.

  3. Option 3

    An ongoing programme

We run the work, report against the baseline, and you renew on the numbers. The term and the reporting are agreed in writing first.

  4. Option 4

Guidance for your own team or agency

We plan, brief and check the work of your in-house team or current agency, instead of replacing them.
