Your product is as good as the next plant's, and the buyer cannot tell.

A buyer who needs a chemical rarely searches for a brand. They search for the product by name or grade, open six tabs, and look for a technical data sheet they can compare. If yours is a catalogue PDF with a phone number, you are compared on price alone.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

Chemical quality specialists examine sealed samples in a plant laboratory

In one paragraph

Chemical manufacturing sales and marketing is the work of getting a plant or a trader's product in front of the procurement and technical people who approve it, and holding their attention through sampling and approval. GullySales builds the product pages, enquiry handling and follow-up that carry a chemical from first search to a repeat purchase order.

The decision is also slow and has more than one person in it. Purchase asks for rates, the plant chemist asks for a sample, quality asks for the safety data sheet, and someone asks whether you can supply the same lot again. Enquiries die in the gaps between those people.

Natural Gases came to GullySales with no brand and no website, selling speciality gases and cryogenic liquids to buyers who wanted to see the range and the plant before enquiring. We built the identity, the site, the social channels and the Google Business page. The principle carries over: a technical buyer checks you out before they write.

Last updated 16 Oct 2026. Licence, certification, labelling and advertising rules for chemicals & specialty chemicals differ by product and change. We describe them in general terms, so check the current position with your own adviser or the regulator before you publish a claim.

Who it is for

This is written for you if chemicals & specialty chemicals is what you make or sell.

  • Manufacturers of bulk and commodity chemicals who sell by the drum, tanker or tonne
  • Specialty and fine chemical makers with product grades that need explaining
  • Formulators and blenders making adhesives, cleaning products or treatment chemicals
  • Traders and stockists who also make or blend part of what they sell
  • Plants that sell mostly to a few repeat customers and want a wider base

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A unit that makes only to one buyer's order and does not want any new customer
  • A business that wants us to say what its product cures, treats or is certified for; those claims need your adviser and we will not write them
  • A seller who wants to compete on price alone through a marketplace; there is little here for us to improve

How buyers choose

What decides who wins in chemicals & specialty chemicals.

  1. Search by product and grade

The buyer types the chemical name, sometimes with a grade or a purity, and compares what comes up. The page that states grade, packing and the documents available is the one that gets the call.

  2. The data sheets

A technical data sheet and a safety data sheet are asked for before a sample is sent. A supplier who has to go and find them looks disorganised, and the buyer notices.

  3. Sample, then trial

The plant tests a sample against what it uses now. Approval is the technical team's, and purchase waits for it, so the chemist is the real audience.

  4. Rate comparison and vendor listing

Purchase compares rates from several suppliers on a stated quantity and packing. Large buyers also add the supplier to an approved vendor list, which is a form and a few documents.

Where orders are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell chemicals & specialty chemicals.

In the words owners use on the first call.

  • “They ask for a rate and then go silent”

A quotation by email, a number and nothing after it. The buyer is comparing four of these and answers the one that phoned.

  • “We get enquiries but half are traders”

Marketplace and search enquiries mix end users with resellers. Without a form that asks what the chemical is for and how much, you spend the day answering the wrong people.

  • “The sample went out and nobody told us what happened”

A sample is a lead, and it is usually logged as a dispatch. Nobody asks the chemist for a result, so the trial order never comes or goes elsewhere.

  • “Customers buy from us but we do not know who else could”

A plant with ten steady buyers has no list of the other users of its product. Growth then depends on whoever phones.

What we do

What you get for chemicals & specialty chemicals.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. Product and grade pages

Each page states the grade, packing sizes, industries served and documents on request, so a buyer can decide whether to write before they write.

  2. A document pack for vendor registration

One organised set of profile, product list and data sheets, so a purchase team that asks gets it in one reply.

  3. A quotation request form

Asks for product, quantity, packing, location and use. It cuts the back-and-forth that kills the first reply.

  4. A sample tracking sheet

Who got which sample, when, and who owes you a result. It turns a dispatch into a follow-up.

  5. A quotation follow-up routine

Defines who calls after a rate goes out and what to say, so quiet quotations are chased by someone.

How the result is measured

  • Qualified enquiries by product and source
  • Quotation requests received
  • Follow-up done on each quotation
  • Samples sent and results obtained
  • Trial orders won
  • Repeat purchase orders

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What the work involves for chemicals & specialty chemicals

  1. 1

Read your product list and enquiry history

We go through your grades, your last quotations and where your enquiries come from, to see what is being asked for and what is being lost.

  2. 2

Set up the product pages and documents

Each grade gets a page and a document pack, written with your quality team's data.

  3. 3

    Fix the enquiry path

The form, the marketplace inbox and the reply routine are joined, so every enquiry has an owner.

  4. 4

    Run sample and quotation follow-up

Samples are chased for results and quotations are followed up by phone and WhatsApp.

  5. 5

    Report against the baseline

Enquiries, quotations, samples and orders are compared with the record taken before work began, and the next move is chosen from that.

What we need from you

What to have ready before we talk.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Your website link, or a note that you do not have one
  • The product list with grades and packing sizes
  • The last twenty quotations you sent and what happened to each
  • Your technical and safety data sheets, as they stand today
  • A list of your repeat customers and the industries they are in
  • Which marketplaces or directories you are already listed on

Export and new regions

Selling chemicals & specialty chemicals beyond your home market.

Where you sell decides standards, documents, payment terms and freight. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new region we start from your own enquiries, your existing buyers and the directories you already use.

  1. Where overseas buyers come from

Importers, distributors and formulators in other countries find chemicals through trade directories, Alibaba and Google Search. We begin with your own export enquiries and existing buyers to see which regions already respond.

  2. Documents a foreign buyer asks for

Specification, safety data sheet in the format the buyer expects, certificate of analysis and packing details. Which registrations or labelling a destination demands changes by country and product, and your regulatory adviser confirms them.

  3. Samples, freight and payment

Chemical samples are shipped under their own handling rules, which a freight forwarder advises on. Payment terms and sample cost are settled before the buyer's trial, and we write the follow-up around them.

FAQ

Questions about selling chemicals & specialty chemicals.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can you market a chemical that needs a licence to sell?
We can write about it and handle enquiries, but we do not decide what you may sell or claim. The licence, the labelling and the permitted uses are for your adviser and the regulator, and we work within what they confirm.
Will a website help when my buyers use IndiaMART?
Yes, because the buyer who finds you there often looks you up before ringing. A site with product pages and data sheets is what they find, and without it you look like a listing and nothing more.
Do you write technical data sheets?
No. The data comes from your laboratory and your quality team. We can lay it out cleanly and make sure it is easy to find and send.
How do you handle traders who only want the lowest rate?
The enquiry form asks for end use and quantity, which sorts users from resellers early. You then decide which to answer first and which to quote at a trade price.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on what is being changed and how many of the people who matter see it. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever the work touches, such as your profiles, your website or your accounts, and time with the people who can answer our questions.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

Engagement options

Ways to work with us.

Pick the size of commitment that fits. Every option starts with your brief and a conversation.

  1. Option 1

    The conversation on its own

A call after you send your brief. It says honestly whether you need outside help, and many fixes are ones your own team can make.

  2. Option 2

    One fix, scoped

Start with the fix that matters most, such as reply time or follow-up. The fee is in writing before anything starts.

  3. Option 3

    An ongoing programme

We run the work, report against the baseline, and you renew on the numbers. The term and the reporting are agreed in writing first.

  4. Option 4

Guidance for your own team or agency

We plan, brief and check the work of your in-house team or current agency, instead of replacing them.

Your brief

Tell us what you need, and we will read it before we call.

Eight short steps about your business, what you want and who decides. Most questions are a tap, and you can skip any you would rather answer on the call.

Your next practical step

Tell us what you are trying to grow, and we will read it before we call.
