Manufacturing · Furniture & Wood Products

The carpenter recommends the brand he has always used and the dealer nods.

Plywood is a commodity that behaves like a brand. The buyer cannot see the glue line or count the plies in the stack, so they trust the dealer, who trusts the carpenter, who trusts what has not failed.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

Furniture makers review wooden panels and cabinet assemblies

In one paragraph

Plywood manufacturing covers the mills that produce plywood, block board, flush door cores and allied panels, sold in grades and thicknesses through dealers to carpenters, furniture makers and builders. GullySales works on how a plywood maker reaches dealers and carpenters, keeps them ordering, and handles enquiries from the manufacturers who buy in bulk.

A mill selling through dealers has a long chain between it and the person who decides. Marketing has to reach the dealer and the carpenter, and a few furniture factories who buy directly.

Who it is for

This is written for you if plywood is what you make or sell.

  • Plywood mills selling through dealers across a state or region
  • Block board and shuttering ply makers supplying contractors
  • Producers of marine, commercial and moisture-resistant grades
  • Units that sell face veneers and laminated boards alongside plywood
  • Owners who rely on two or three large dealers and want a wider base

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A mill that cannot back its grade marking with test or batch records it is willing to show. Dealers and carpenters will find out.
  • A trader who only buys and resells plywood. We work with makers.

How buyers choose

What decides the sale of plywood.

  1. The carpenter's word

A carpenter or furniture workshop uses a brand because it cuts clean, does not delaminate and has not caused callbacks. They tell the dealer and the homeowner.

  2. Grade, thickness and glue type

A buyer asks for commercial or marine grade, thickness and whether the glue is boiling water resistant. They want the marking on the sheet to match the invoice.

  3. The dealer's stock and margin

A dealer decides on the margin, the credit, the delivery frequency and the complaints handled. A brand that is always in stock is easier to recommend.

  4. Bulk buyers and test certificates

A furniture factory or contractor buying by the truck asks for a batch certificate and samples tested before placing a larger order.

Where orders are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell plywood.

In the words owners use on the first call.

  • “The dealer pushes whichever brand pays the best margin”

Dealers earn the same on the visible brand and the cheaper one. A reason to choose yours has to come from the carpenter, not the counter.

  • “Carpenters do not know our name”

A mill that sells to the dealer never meets the person who cuts the sheet. Without that link, the brand has no pull.

  • “Counterfeit marking shows up in the market”

Cheaper plywood is sold under a known mark. Buyers need a way to check what they hold, and the mill needs to know where it appears.

  • “Big orders come from one factory and we are scared of losing it”

A single buyer taking a large share of output is a risk. The mill has no spread of customers to fall back on.

The scope

The work we would propose for plywood.

Measured on qualified enquiries, quotation requests, follow-up on each quotation, orders won and, where you sell through dealers or shelves, repeat orders by channel. Anything here that needs a platform, directory or tool we have not used with you is confirmed with you before it goes in the scope.

What we do

What you get for plywood.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A grade guide with thickness and use

Which board for which job, written for a carpenter. It builds the habit of asking for you by name.

  2. A dealer pack

Terms, price card, display, sample and the contact for dispatch and complaints. It changes the conversation at the counter.

  3. A map of dealer coverage

Towns served and towns open, built from your invoices, so expansion is chosen rather than accidental.

  4. A bulk quotation sheet

By thickness, quantity and delivery, with test certificate reference where available. A factory buyer reads it in a minute.

  5. A carpenter list with consent

Names and numbers collected through dealers, used for stock news and grade guidance.

How the result is measured

  • Dealer enquiries received
  • Dealers added and actively ordering
  • Bulk quotation requests
  • Follow-up on each bulk quotation
  • Sample requests against orders
  • Repeat orders by dealer

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What we need from you

What to have ready before we talk.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Your grade list, thickness range and brand marks
  • Dealer list with towns and approximate volumes
  • Any batch or test certificates you can show buyers
  • Photographs of the mill, the stacks and a cut sheet
  • Last bulk quotations and what became of them

Export and new regions

Selling plywood beyond your home market.

Where you sell decides standards, documents, payment terms and freight. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new region we start from your own enquiries, your existing buyers and the directories you already use.

  1. Who buys plywood from India

Importers and building material distributors in the Gulf, Africa and neighbouring countries buy plywood and block board by the container. The first step is your own export enquiries.

  2. Grade and glue documentation

Buyers abroad ask what grade, what glue and what documentation comes with each shipment. Which ones apply is for your adviser or the buyer's country rules.

  3. Container loading

Sheet sizes, thicknesses and strapping decide how many sheets go in a container. Buyers compare landed cost, not mill rate.

FAQ

Questions about selling plywood.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How do I get carpenters to ask for my brand?
By giving them a reason: a clear grade guide, a good sheet and a way to check it. The dealer then stocks what is asked for. It is slow, and it begins with a few dealers who are willing to hand out the guide.
Should I sell direct to furniture factories?
Some mills do, as a second channel. It protects dealers only if prices are set so that dealers are not undercut, and we would look at your invoices before suggesting it.
Can marketing fix a counterfeit problem?
It can help buyers check what they hold, by publishing how to read your marking. Enforcement is a legal matter for you and your adviser.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on what is being changed and how many of the people who matter see it. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever the work touches, such as your profiles, your website or your accounts, and time with the people who can answer our questions.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.
