Home improvement stores · Buyer persona

Know the five people who spend in your shop and what each needs before buying.

A buyer persona for a home improvement store is a written picture of one kind of buyer: what job they are doing, who decides, what they compare and what makes them return. GullySales builds the personas from your own billing and counter notes, so each page and message speaks to a real buyer.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

Home improvement companies: show a real physical business scene illustrating Lead and sales pipeline. Record the enquiry source, book the site survey, and chase until the householder signs or turns the quote down.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For home improvement stores

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The renovating family decides as a group”

One partner picks the finish, another watches the budget, and a parent may weigh in on the fitter. The store hears from whoever visits, so the project desk record must note the other voices and what each cares about.

  • “The owner of a new flat has a long list and no plan”

An owner holding fresh keys needs everything and has seen nothing. They want a starter list, a sense of order and one place to ask. They buy from the store that organises the job for them.

  • “The contractor buys for someone else”

A contractor chooses by what keeps the client happy and the job on schedule: stock held, a sensible credit line and a counter that knows the order. Price matters less than a missing item on site.

  • “The landlord repaints between tenants”

A landlord wants the room let again, so they buy plain, durable finishes in a hurry and rarely return for decoration. They respond to a repeat package they can order by message without a visit.

What we do

What we deliver for home improvement stores.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A one-page persona for each buyer

Five pages, each covering the job, the decision-makers, the usual worries and what makes them come back.

Result: Each page can be read in a minute and used at a counter.

  2. Counter notes added to the record

A line on every project record for who decided, what was compared and what held up the purchase.

Result: The record shows who the real decider was.

  3. Messages written for each persona

Separate wording for the family, the new owner, the contractor and the landlord.

Result: No one receives a message written for someone else.

  4. A map of persona to department

A chart showing which department each buyer reaches first and which they miss.

Result: You can see which buyer is walking past which shelf.

  5. A review of the personas against sales

The personas read against billing records after a period of use and corrected where the record disagrees.

Result: The pages change when the sales record contradicts them.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Who it is for

This is written for these home improvement stores.

  • Multi-category home improvement stores in a city
  • Neighbourhood stores selling paint, fittings and hardware
  • Home improvement stores with a project desk
  • Stores that supply small contractors and handymen
  • Stores attached to a building materials yard
  • Franchise or brand-linked home improvement outlets
  • Stores with an interior and renovation service desk
  • Stores in smaller towns serving a whole district

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Do we need a persona for every customer type?
No. Choose the few types that account for your largest and repeat spend: the family, the new owner and the contractor. More than a handful and the pages stop being used.
How do we build a persona without surveys?
From what you already hold: bills, the project desk record and what staff remember. Add a short conversation with a few buyers of each type. A persona built from real purchases is stronger than one imagined in a meeting.
Should we name the personas?
A plain label such as new flat owner or small contractor works better than an invented name. It keeps staff thinking about a type of buyer, not about a person who does not exist.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
