Plenty of people watch your free class and only a few ever pay for the course.

A course is a promise about a future you cannot show. The buyer is judging the teacher, the syllabus, the first demonstration and the people who have already enrolled. A price is a small part of the decision, since the real cost is the hours they must give.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

Online courses are lessons sold as recorded video, live classes or a mix, to people who want to learn a skill, qualify for something or pursue a hobby. GullySales works on how the course is found, how the first class and the counselling call are handled, and how a student who paid is kept learning to the last lesson.

Many course businesses spend on getting free-class registrations and stop watching after that. The difficulty is further along: the person who registered and did not attend, the one who attended and went quiet, the one who paid and stopped at lesson four. Each of those is a problem you can see in the records.

A word of care. We do not write or promise what a course will do for a student's career or marks, and your pages should not either. Claims about jobs, salaries, pass rates and recognition have to be true, documented and checked with your adviser. The pages here are built on what the course teaches and who it is for.

Last updated 7 Oct 2026. Product, labelling and advertising rules for online courses differ by product and change. We describe them in general terms, so check the current position with your own adviser or the regulator before you publish a claim.

Who it is for

This is written for you if you sell online courses online.

  • Independent teachers, trainers and experts turning their knowledge into a paid course
  • Institutes and coaching centres adding online batches next to their classrooms
  • Companies selling certification and skills courses to individuals and employers
  • Course businesses that fill their free classes but convert few of the people who attend
  • Sellers on a platform who want their own site and list beside it

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Courses that rely on a promised result, such as a sure job or a certain rank. We will not help market a promise like that.
  • Anyone selling a course with no finished lessons or no one to answer a student's question. The first batch will be the last.

How buyers choose

What decides who wins in online courses.

  1. The teacher is the product

A buyer looks at who teaches, what they have done and how they speak. A video of the teacher explaining one real topic is watched before the syllabus is read.

  2. Syllabus and the first lesson

Readers check whether the topics match their gap, how many hours it takes and what the final project is. A free lesson tells them whether the teaching suits them.

  3. Live or recorded, and when it starts

A working person asks whether classes are in the evening, whether recordings are kept and when the next batch begins. A page that hides the date loses the buyer who wanted to start this week.

  4. Who pays

A parent pays for a school student, an employer sometimes pays for a working professional, and a learner pays for themselves in instalments. The page has to answer a different person each time.

Where sales are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell online courses online.

In the words sellers use on the first call.

  • “Many register for the free class but few attend”

A registration with no reminder is forgotten. Reminders on WhatsApp and email, a calendar link and a short message from the teacher on the day change attendance.

  • “People attend and then do not buy”

The class ended with a price and a link, and nobody spoke to the person. A counselling call or message within a window agreed with you handles the questions they had but did not ask.

  • “Students drop out after the first few lessons”

Completion is lost early. A prompt on the first lesson, a named person for questions and a visible next step keep a learner moving.

  • “Refunds and complaints follow the payment”

A buyer who expected something different asks for money back. A clearer page, an honest description of the level and the effort needed, and a stated refund policy before payment reduce the surprise.

What we do

What you get for online courses.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A course page for each course

Syllabus, teacher, schedule, fee and refund terms on one page. It answers the questions a buyer would otherwise ask on a call.

  2. A free class sequence

Registration, reminders, replay and follow-up messages written out. It raises attendance and gives the sales conversation a starting point.

  3. A counselling guide

A short sheet for whoever speaks to enquirers: the questions to ask, what not to promise and how to handle price. It keeps promises true.

  4. A completion tracker

Students by lesson reached and last activity, with a call list for those who stopped. It shows where the course loses people.

How the result is measured

  • Registrations for the free class
  • Free-class attendance
  • Paid enrolments
  • Completion of the course
  • Retention across batches
  • Refund requests by reason

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What the work involves for online courses

  1. 1

Audit the funnel from class registration to completion

We look at where learners come from, who attends, who buys and who finishes. This is the ground the audit call covers, and the scored report ranks what to fix first.

  2. 2

Decide the claims you can stand behind

Together with your adviser, we list what each page may say about outcomes, certificates and recognition, and take out what cannot be shown.

  3. 3

Rebuild the course pages and free class path

Course pages, registration, reminders and the follow-up after the class go live, with tracking from the first registration.

  4. 4

    Set up counselling and follow-up

Whoever speaks to enquirers gets a guide, a record sheet and follow-up dates, agreed with your team.

  5. 5

    Measure against the baseline

Registrations, attendance, enrolments and completion are reported against the baseline recorded before work began. The reporting arrangement is written down after the audit, not before it.

  6. 6

Fix the drop-off and add the next batch

The step where most people stop is looked at before more advertising is spent. Then the next course or the next batch is added.

What we need from you

What to have ready before the audit call.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Your website, course pages and any platform where the course is hosted
  • Syllabus, schedule, fee and refund policy for each course
  • Recent free-class registrations, attendance and enrolments
  • The questions students ask before and after paying
  • Any claims you now make, such as certificates or recognition, and the proof you hold

Selling in India and abroad

Selling online courses beyond your own market.

Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.

  1. Time zones and live classes

A live batch at seven in the evening in Bengaluru is the middle of the night in North America. Overseas learners ask for recordings or a second slot, and the page should say which you offer.

  2. Language and fees in the learner's currency

Indian-language courses attract families abroad who want children to learn their own tongue. Fees shown in their own currency and a payment method that works for them matter. Tax on a foreign sale is for your accountant.

  3. Recognition of certificates

A certificate from your course means what your course says. Whether an employer or institution elsewhere accepts it is theirs to decide, and the page should not suggest it is accepted unless it is.

FAQ

Questions about selling online courses online.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How do I price my course?
Start from what a learner would pay a good teacher for the same hours, then add what makes your teaching different. Offer an instalment plan if your buyers are individuals. The right price shows up in how many people ask about it before they pay.
Is it better to sell on a course platform or on my own website?
Use your own site for the page and the learner's contact details, so you own the list. The platform can host the lessons or help with payments. A course that lives only on a platform has no way to reach students if that platform changes.
Can I say my course leads to a job?
Only with proof that you can show to anyone who asks, and with your adviser's view on how it may be stated. If you cannot show it, leave it out. A page that describes who teaches, what is covered and what the learner makes is more believable anyway.
How do I get more people to finish the course?
Look at where they stop. Usually it is the first few lessons or the first assignment. A prompt after the first lesson and a person who answers questions the same day move more students than extra content.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

  4. Option 4

Guidance for your own team or agency

We plan, brief and check the work of your in-house team or current agency, instead of replacing them.
