E-commerce · Online Courses

Nobody joins a design or photography course to collect a certificate, but to make something better.

In creative courses the teacher's own work is the first thing the buyer checks, and the students' work is the second. A learner looks at the pictures, films or designs that came out of the course and asks if they could make something like it.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

Creative courses teach skills such as photography, graphic design, video editing, animation, illustration, writing and music production, where the student's own work is the proof. GullySales works on the portfolio pages, the feedback arrangement and the student gallery that persuade a learner to enrol and to finish.

The product is feedback. Anyone can watch a lesson on composition. What a student pays for is someone looking at their photograph and saying what to fix, so the page must say how much feedback there is and from whom.

Last updated 7 Oct 2026. Product, labelling and advertising rules for online courses differ by product and change. We describe them in general terms, so check the current position with your own adviser or the regulator before you publish a claim.

Who it is for

This is written for you if you sell creative courses online.

  • Photographers, designers and film-makers teaching what they do
  • Studios and art schools adding paid online courses
  • Teachers of illustration, animation and digital painting
  • Musicians and producers teaching production, mixing or an instrument as a craft
  • Writers who run courses in fiction, scriptwriting or content writing

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A course that sells itself on a famous name but gives students no feedback on their work. Buyers find out in the first week.
  • Sellers who promise commissions, clients or a career after the course. We will not write that.

How buyers choose

What decides the sale of creative courses.

  1. The teacher's portfolio and style

A learner of wedding photography wants to shoot like a particular photographer, not just any. A gallery of the teacher's own work, with the kit and the setting named, decides the shortlist.

  2. Student work, as it was

A gallery of what students made, including from the first week, shows both the starting point and the progress. A page with only polished pieces looks like the teacher's own work.

  3. Feedback on assignments

How many assignments, how they are reviewed, how long a student waits and whether it is live or written. This is the part of the course that cannot be copied from a free video.

  4. Software, kit and materials

The buyer needs to know what to have before the first class: a camera or a phone, an editing programme, a tablet and pen, brushes and paper. A list with cheaper options keeps people from leaving.

Where sales are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell creative courses online.

In the words sellers use on the first call.

  • “People enrol, watch the lessons and never submit work”

A creative course only works when the student makes things. Small first assignments with a clear deadline and a reply from the teacher turn watchers into makers.

  • “Our students make good work but we do not show it”

Pictures sit in a private group. With permission, a public gallery with names and a line from each student is the best advertisement the course has.

  • “Free tutorials on YouTube are good enough for many”

A paid course must offer what a video cannot: critique, a structured path and a group that notices if you stop. Show a sample critique to make the case.

  • “Beginners fear they have no talent”

They hold back from enrolling until they feel ready. A first free lesson that has them make something small, and a gallery of beginner work, answers the fear.

What we do

What you get for creative courses.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A teacher portfolio page

The teacher's best work with the setting and tools named. It is the first proof a learner looks for.

  2. A student gallery with permission form

A page of student work and a short consent message built into enrolment. It builds proof as batches go by.

  3. A kit and software list

What to have for each module, with a cheap option and a better one. It stops late dropouts caused by missing tools.

  4. A feedback guide

How assignments are submitted and answered, written for the student. It sets expectations the teacher can meet.

How the result is measured

  • Free session registrations
  • Free session attendance
  • Paid enrolments
  • Assignments submitted
  • Completion of the course
  • Referrals from past students

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What we need from you

What to have ready before the audit call.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Your course list and the assignment structure
  • The teacher's portfolio
  • Student work you have permission to show
  • A count of students who submit assignments and those who do not
  • Your Instagram, YouTube and website links

Selling in India and abroad

Selling creative courses beyond your own market.

Where you sell decides sizes, units, seasons and returns. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new country we start from your own sales and the platforms you already use.

  1. Live critique across time zones

A critique session at an Indian evening is the middle of the night for a student in North America. Offer recorded critique or a second slot, and say so on the page.

  2. Materials and software availability

Art materials and some software are priced and sold differently abroad. A kit list in generic terms, not in brand and shop names from India alone, is more useful to a foreign learner.

FAQ

Questions about selling creative courses online.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Is a certificate useful for a creative course?
Learners rarely care, and clients never ask. Your students' portfolios are what count, so spend your effort on helping them finish a body of work, and give a certificate only as a courtesy.
How many students can one teacher give feedback to?
Fewer than most course owners hope. If feedback is the product, the batch size must match the teacher's time. Smaller batches at a higher fee, or assistants who review first, are the usual answers.
Can I show student work without permission if it is public?
No. Ask each student, in writing, and let them withdraw. Using someone's work without asking costs more in trust than the gallery earns.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

Start with the fix the audit ranks first, such as reply time or follow-up. The fee is in writing before anything starts.

  4. Option 4

Guidance for your own team or agency

We plan, brief and check the work of your in-house team or current agency, instead of replacing them.
