Retailers · Branding

The board, the bag and the bill are the only brand a shop has.

Branding for a shop is the board on the road, the carry bag somebody walks out with and the way the counter treats them. GullySales settles the name, the look and the material a shopper takes home, so the store is remembered by name.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What branding means

Branding is what a customer remembers about your business beyond the product, including your name, colours, tone of voice and what you are known for locally. GullySales sets or corrects this once and applies it consistently across your website, signage and adverts so the business looks like one company everywhere.

For retailers

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The carry bag walks down the road all evening”

It is seen by everyone the customer passes, then kept at home for months. A plain bag wastes both of those.

  • “The board, the bill and the listing must agree”

Shoppers search what they read on the board. If the bill says something else and the listing a third thing, nobody finds you twice.

  • “A multi-brand store advertises everybody but itself”

Brand posters cover the shutter, the wall and the window, and the shop's own name ends up the smallest thing on the front.

  • “Staff are the brand at the moment it counts”

How a shopper is greeted, and how a return is handled, decides whether they come back. No design work substitutes for that.

What we do

What we deliver for retailers.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A name and board that read from across the road

The shop name set in one form, sized and lit for the distance people see it from, with the category clear on the board.

Result: People can name your shop when a neighbour asks.

  2. Carry bags, bill and tags as one set

The bag, the printed bill, the price tags and any warranty card carrying the same name, number and WhatsApp line.

Result: Your name stays in the house after the purchase.

  3. A plan for the shopfront and window

How brand material, offers and the shop's own name share the front, so the store is not hidden behind other people's posters.

Result: The shop is seen before the brands it stocks.

  4. What the counter says at the key moments

The greeting, the ask for a number, the exchange explanation and what is said when a size is not on the shelf.

Result: Every shopper gets the same treatment on a busy day.

  5. One look across the board, the listing and the posts

The same colours, name and photographs on the shopfront, the Business Profile, WhatsApp and Instagram.

Result: A shopper who saw the post recognises the shop.

How the result is measured

  • Recognition in customer feedback
  • Consistency across channels
  • Repeat enquiries by name

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Positioning in one sentence

We are the store in this locality for this kind of shopper, and here is what they can see before they walk in.

Who it is for: the shopper you want walking in
Name the buyer, for example families buying school uniforms and shoes together, or first-time home buyers furnishing a flat. A store for 'all customers' competes on the discount board with every other store.
What you stock: the range you would be known for
Say what the shop is best at, such as sizes other stores do not carry, a full wedding trousseau counter, or the brands plus the service after sale. A shopper must be able to repeat it to a neighbour in one breath.
What the shopper gets that online does not
Trying it on, seeing the actual colour, a person who knows the stock, an exchange without a courier. Choose the one you honour every time, and put it in the same words on the bill, the bag and the board.
The proof you can show
Photographs of your actual shelves and counter, your Google rating with the review text, and your years in the locality if it is a real number you can document. Do not use manufacturer catalogue photos as your own.
Words every store board uses
'Best prices', 'huge collection' and 'one stop shop' are on a hundred boards on the same road. Replace them with the thing that is only true here, such as 'sizes up to XXXL' or 'free alterations on the spot'.

Who it is for

This is written for these retailers.

  • Apparel and footwear stores
  • Electronics and appliance retailers
  • Grocery and kirana stores
  • Home decor and furnishing stores
  • Jewellery and gifting retailers
  • Multi-brand outlet stores

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the branding work runs

  1. 1

    Interview customers and team

We talk to real buyers, won and lost, and to people inside the business who deal with customers daily.

  2. 2

    Review the competitive field

We look at how the nearest competitors present themselves so the position is not accidentally identical.

  3. 3

    Draft the position

A first version of the positioning statement and messaging pillars is written and checked against what customers actually said.

  4. 4

    Test it against real conversations

The draft is tried out in a real sales call or two before it is finalised, since a position that does not survive a real conversation needs rework.

  5. 5

    Hand over the rollout brief

The final position, pillars and not-for list are documented for your team and any agency to apply consistently.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

We stock big brands. Why spend on our own board?
Because a shopper looking for that brand can buy it in four places. What brings them back is the shop, and the shop is the board, the bag and the person at the counter.
Is it worth printing our own carry bags?
For most shops, yes. It is the cheapest advertising you will buy, it travels through the market every evening, and it sits in a cupboard at home with your number on it.
Should the shop name say what we sell?
If a stranger cannot tell what you sell from the board, the name is costing you walk-ins. Keep the family name if people know it, and add a plain descriptor under it. 'Sharma Textiles' plus 'sarees and dress material' does more than either alone.
Do we need one look across the board, bag and bill?
Yes, because shoppers meet you in that order and match them. If the board says one name, the bag another and the Google listing a third, people doubt it is one shop. Fix the name and spelling first, colours second.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
