Retailers · Email marketing

For most shops WhatsApp wins, and email earns its place in two cases.

Email for a shop matters where the purchase is big enough to be thought about, such as furniture, electronics or jewellery, and where nearby offices buy in bulk. GullySales works out whether your store is one of those, builds the list from billing and writes what gets opened.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What email marketing means

Email marketing is sending planned messages to a list of past and prospective customers who have agreed to hear from you. It suits offers, updates and staying in touch with someone who is not ready to buy yet. GullySales writes and schedules these emails and tracks who opens, clicks and enquires.

For retailers

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “A daily needs shop should not be sending email”

If the basket is small and the visit is weekly, WhatsApp and the counter do everything. Better to say so than to build a list nobody reads.

  • “A considered purchase leaves a gap to fill”

Somebody comparing a washing machine or a sofa takes a week to decide. Email is where the price, the warranty and a comparison can wait for them.

  • “Offices a kilometre away buy in bulk”

A company buying Diwali gifts, uniforms or appliances works in an inbox and will not be reached on a WhatsApp status.

  • “An address outlives a phone number”

A business number can be restricted or blocked. An address collected with consent belongs to the shop and survives a change of phone.

What we do

What we deliver for retailers.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. An honest decision about whether this is for you

A look at basket size, how often people buy and whether you hold any addresses at all, made before anything is built.

Result: You do not spend months on a channel your shop does not need.

  2. A list collected with consent at billing

Addresses taken at the counter or at delivery for the purchases worth following up, with the permission recorded against each.

Result: The list belongs to the shop and is safe to use.

  3. A follow-up for considered purchases

A short mail after a visit with the models compared, the price, the warranty and the exchange terms, for shoppers who left to think.

Result: The comparison happens with your figures in front of them.

  4. A bulk offer written for nearby offices

A one-page offer for gifting, uniforms or appliances, sent to the admin contacts at companies within a few kilometres.

Result: Bulk orders come from buyers who never walk in.

  5. Service, warranty and reminder mails

Notes when a service is due, a warranty is ending or a product needs a check, for the categories where that applies.

Result: The customer comes back to you and not to a service shop.

  6. Opens, replies and returning customers tracked

What was opened, what was answered and who came back into the shop, read against the position before the list existed.

Result: The channel is kept or dropped on evidence.

How the result is measured

  • Open rate
  • Click rate
  • Enquiries from email

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What must be in place first

What a shop needs in place before it sends a single email to a customer.

A reason the shopper gave an email address
Ask at billing and write down why they gave it: warranty, a bill copy or an offer. Only mail for that reason. A number given for a delivery is not permission for offers.
Billing records that hold the purchase
The mail must know what was bought, the date and the invoice value. Without that, a follow-up for a sofa or a fridge reads like a broadcast and is ignored.
A list split by category
Keep furniture, electronics, jewellery and bulk office buyers apart. Someone who bought a wardrobe wants a note about a mattress, not about a phone sale.
A sender name the customer knows
Send from the shop name or the owner, on a domain you control, with SPF and DKIM set. Mail from a free address with a long forwarding chain lands in spam.
A route out in every mail
A visible unsubscribe link, honoured when asked. India's data protection law expects you to collect only what you need and to stop when someone says stop.
A WhatsApp rule for the same customer
Decide which messages go by email and which by WhatsApp, so one customer does not receive the same offer twice on two channels.

Who it is for

  • Electronics and appliance retailers
  • Grocery and kirana stores

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the email marketing work runs

  1. 1

    Understand your list

We review who is on the list, how they got there, and how long it has been since they last heard from you.

  2. 2

    Audit past sends

We check open and click rates from past emails to see what has and has not worked.

  3. 3

    Segment and plan

The list is split into meaningful groups and a sending calendar is agreed.

  4. 4

    Implement content and automation

Emails are written, scheduled and, where useful, set to trigger automatically based on behaviour.

  5. 5

    Measure and optimise

We track performance and adjust subject lines, timing and content based on what the list responds to.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Is email dead for retail in India?
For a daily needs shop, effectively yes. For furniture, electronics, jewellery and anything a family discusses for a week it still works, and for offices buying in bulk it is the only channel they will use.
Can we send the same message on WhatsApp and email?
No. WhatsApp is short and immediate. Email is where the detail goes: the comparison, the warranty, the delivery terms. Sending the same text to both makes one of them pointless.
Do we need to ask for an email address at the counter?
Ask only if there is a clear use: the bill copy, the warranty or a service reminder. Tell the customer what you will send, write it on the bill record, and do not make the purchase depend on it. A forced field gives wrong addresses.
Will our mail land in spam if it has big offer images?
Heavy images and few words look like promotion, and filters treat them badly. Write a short text mail with one image, set up your domain properly, and ask new subscribers to reply once. A plain note from a named sender is the most reliable.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
