Software development companies · Buyer persona

Write down who buys a build and who vetoes it before you pitch either.

A buyer persona for a software development company describes the people on the client side of a build: the founder with the idea, the CTO who checks the stack, the finance head who reads the quote. GullySales works with you on personas drawn from your own closed and lost projects, so outreach and proposals speak to the right reader.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What buyer persona means

A buyer persona is a plain description of the kind of customer who actually buys from you. It includes what they search, what worries them and who else they ask before deciding. GullySales builds this from real enquiries and past sales rather than a generic template, then uses it to write every page and advert.

For software development companies

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The founder and the technical adviser want different proofs”

A founder with funding wants to hear that the product will ship before the next round. The CTO or adviser who reviews your proposal wants architecture choices, code ownership and how you handle a rewrite. One pitch deck rarely answers both readers, so each needs its own page and its own conversation.

  • “An SME owner buying a first system is a different buyer from a startup”

A distributor moving off spreadsheets and WhatsApp orders has no technical vocabulary and fears a system the staff will refuse to use. The worry is adoption, not stack. Talking to this owner about microservices loses the room; showing a walkthrough of a dealer order screen holds it.

  • “The rescue buyer arrives angry and short of trust”

A business whose last vendor left a half-built product comes with a damaged view of every software firm. They ask for a code audit, references and a small first step. Treating this person like a fresh startup founder makes the same mistake the previous vendor made.

  • “Overseas clients judge by communication before code”

A buyer in the UK, the US or the Gulf shortlists on reviews and a first call. Time zones, written updates and who their project manager will be count as much as the engineering. The persona should record these worries so your first reply answers them.

What we do

What we deliver for software development companies.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Persona sheets from closed and lost projects

One page per buyer type, built from the projects you won and the ones you lost, recording the trigger, the doubts and the words the buyer used.

Result: You can read a sheet and see which real client it came from.

  2. A map of who decides inside a client

A simple chart of the founder, adviser, finance reader and end users on a build, with what each one needs from you before they agree.

Result: Every proposal has a named reader for each concern.

  3. Discovery call questions by persona

A set of opening questions for each buyer type, so the first call finds the trigger and the real constraint rather than a feature list.

Result: Your call notes record the same facts every time.

  4. Message versions for outreach and proposals

The opening lines and proof points of your outreach, rewritten once for each persona and tied to your NDA-safe case studies.

Result: Outreach to a funded founder reads differently from outreach to an SME owner.

  5. Disqualifier list

A written list of project signs that point to a poor fit, such as a fixed price demanded on a two-line idea with no discovery.

Result: The team agrees on when to decline before spending days on a quote.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiry match to persona
  • Conversion rate by persona
  • Content aligned to persona

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the buyer persona work runs

  1. 1

    Understand the current view

We start with how your team currently describes the customer, since the gap between belief and reality is often the finding itself.

  2. 2

    Audit past enquiries and sales

We look at recent enquiries and closed deals to see who actually bought, not who was assumed to buy.

  3. 3

    Interview customers and staff

Short, structured conversations surface the real language, worries and triggers behind a purchase.

  4. 4

    Build the personas

Findings are written into short, usable persona documents rather than a long report.

  5. 5

    Apply to your marketing

We show exactly where each persona should change a page, an ad or a script you already have.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Where do we get persona detail if we have few clients?
Start with the projects you delivered and the ones that went quiet, and ask three former prospects for a short call about how they chose. Every persona sheet marks which facts came from a real conversation and which are still a guess.
Should personas be by industry or by buyer role?
Both matter, and they join together. Pick the domains you want to be known for, then write the founder, adviser and finance reader inside each. A logistics founder and a healthcare founder fear different failures.
Who on our side uses the persona sheets?
The founder doing sales, the project manager writing proposals and whoever runs outreach. They are short enough to read before a call, and they are reviewed whenever a project is won or lost.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
