Shopify store design and setup · Marketing

Start selling from your own online store without hiring a developer for every change.

A Shopify store is quick to start and easy to get wrong. A free theme, forty products with phone photos and a payment gateway nobody tested will take orders, but they will also lose the buyer who gets stuck on the pincode check or finds no cash on delivery option.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

In one paragraph

Shopify store design and setup is the building of an online store on Shopify: theme, products, payments, shipping and tax. GullySales sets the store up for Indian buyers, with UPI and cash on delivery, GST on the invoice, and your own team able to run it afterwards.

We design and set up the store around how Indian buyers actually pay and receive. UPI and cards at checkout, cash on delivery where your margin allows it, shipping rates by pincode zone, and GST handled on the invoice. Your team gets a store it can run: adding a product, changing a price and packing an order.

Shopify suits a brand with a defined range, a few hundred products at most and a plan to sell through Instagram and ads. It is not the right tool for a business whose price depends on a quote, or one with thousands of changing SKUs. We say so before any build starts.

The problem

Does this sound like your business?

What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.

  • “Buyers reach the cart and leave”

No cash on delivery, no UPI, a pincode that will not validate or shipping revealed only at the last step. Each one costs an order the buyer had already decided on.

  • “The store looks like every other free theme”

Product photos of mixed sizes, a home page with a stock banner and no reason to trust a brand the buyer has not heard of.

  • “Orders arrive and the process behind them is a mess”

Orders come in through Shopify, Instagram direct messages and WhatsApp, and stock lives in a notebook. Something sells that was never in stock.

  • “Setup was done by a friend and nobody can change it”

Shipping rules, tax settings and apps were added one by one, and now a price change breaks something else.

What we do

Everything that is included.

Each deliverable, and what it gets you. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Store structure and collections

Products grouped the way buyers browse, with a navigation menu that works on a phone with one thumb.

  2. Theme setup and design

A theme set up to your brand, with product pages that carry size, material and care details a buyer asks about before ordering.

  3. Product upload

Titles, descriptions, variants, prices and photos loaded from the sheet you give us, with the first products written properly as a model for the rest.

  4. Payments and checkout

Payment gateway for UPI, cards and net banking, cash on delivery rules, and a test order placed through each method before launch.

  5. Shipping and GST

Shipping zones and rates set up with your courier, and GST applied so the invoice a customer receives is correct. Your CA confirms the tax settings.

  6. WhatsApp and order notifications

Order confirmation and dispatch messages set up so the buyer hears from you without anybody typing.

  7. Handover and training

Your team shown how to add products, process orders and issue refunds, with every login in your name.

How the result is measured

  • Orders placed by source
  • Checkout completion rate
  • Cash on delivery share of orders
  • Returns and cancellations by reason
  • Add-to-cart against purchase

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Who it is for

This is written for you if these sound familiar.

  • D2C brands in clothing, jewellery, food, skincare and home decor selling a defined range
  • Retailers and makers selling mainly on Instagram and WhatsApp who want a proper checkout
  • Businesses on a marketplace only, who want a store of their own beside it
  • Owners with a half-built Shopify store that has never taken an order
  • Small manufacturers who want to sell consumer products directly

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • Your price depends on a quote or a site visit, a good website with enquiry forms serves you better
  • You list thousands of changing products from a trading stock system, which needs a different store build
  • You sell regulated goods that payment gateways in India will not support, which needs checking first

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the work runs

  1. 1

Read the brief and check the fit

We read your requirements brief and decide with you whether Shopify suits your range, your volumes and the way you sell.

  2. 2

    Agree the catalogue

We settle how products are grouped and what each product page must say before design starts.

  3. 3

    Design and set up

Theme, payments, shipping and tax are set up on the store while it is still closed to the public.

  4. 4

    Test orders

We place test orders by every payment method and to several pincodes, and check what the buyer and you each receive.

  5. 5

    Launch and hand over

The store opens, your team is trained, and what happens after launch is agreed in writing.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

#257, 3rd floor, Sri Nanjundeshwara Complex, Nagarbhavi 8th Block, Outer Ring Road. How we work.

Engagement options

Ways to work with us.

Pick the size of commitment that fits. Every option starts with your brief and a conversation.

  1. Option 1

    The conversation on its own

A call after you send your brief. It says honestly whether you need outside help, and many fixes are ones your own team can make.

  2. Option 2

    One fix, scoped

Start with the fix that matters most, such as reply time or follow-up. The fee is in writing before anything starts.

  3. Option 3

    An ongoing programme

We run the work, report against the baseline, and you renew on the numbers. The term and the reporting are agreed in writing first.

  4. Option 4

Guidance for your own team or agency

We plan, brief and check the work of your in-house team or current agency, instead of replacing them.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Shopify or WooCommerce, which should I choose?
Shopify if you want a store that runs without a developer and your range is defined. WooCommerce on WordPress if you need deep customisation and have someone to maintain it. The honest answer depends on your range and who will look after the store.
Does Shopify work for Indian buyers?
Yes, with the right set-up. UPI, cards, cash on delivery and GST invoicing all work, but each needs configuring and testing. That setup is most of what this service does.
What does Shopify itself cost?
Shopify charges its own subscription and a fee on payments, set by Shopify and payable to them, separate from our fee. Check its current plans on its site, because we will not quote them from memory. Our fee is put in writing after we read your brief.
Can you bring in my products from Instagram or a marketplace?
We can load products from a sheet. If your photos and descriptions only exist inside Instagram posts, we rebuild them as proper product pages, and photography is a separate service if the images need redoing.
Will the store bring orders by itself?
No. A new store has no visitors. Traffic comes from Instagram, search, ads and WhatsApp, which is covered under Shopify and WooCommerce marketing.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on the trade, the channel and what is already in place. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
