Hospitals · Direct mail
Reach the households near you that will not find you on a search engine.
Direct mail for a hospital is a printed flyer or health-camp invitation delivered to homes and shops in its catchment area. It suits an older audience, or a new branch with no search history yet. GullySales times it around a health camp or a season, such as monsoon fever screening.
Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What direct mail means
Direct mail is a printed letter, catalogue or postcard sent to a physical address, still effective for reaching decision makers who ignore email and calls. GullySales builds the mailing list, designs the piece and tracks response through a code or number unique to the mailer.
Last updated 5 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.
For hospitals
Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.
“A new branch has no search reputation yet”
A hospital that opened this year will not rank high in search, so a mailer to nearby homes builds first awareness.
“Health camps give the mailer a reason to be kept”
A free diabetes or eye camp printed on the flyer is more likely to stay on a shelf than a plain advertisement.
“Senior citizens respond better to print than to search”
For cataract surgery or joint replacement, a flyer at the local pharmacy often reaches the decision-maker directly.
What we do
What we deliver for hospitals.
Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.
A catchment-area mailer design
A printed flyer designed for homes and shops in the hospital's catchment area, timed around a health camp or a season.
Result: Nearby households hear about the hospital even before they search online.
A health camp mailer tie-in
A flyer built around a free screening camp, such as diabetes or eye checkups, giving it a reason to be kept.
Result: The mailer stays on a shelf instead of in the bin.
A trackable response code per mailer
A unique phone number or WhatsApp code printed on each mailer run, so a call can be traced back to it.
Result: You know whether the mailer actually produced an enquiry.
A new branch awareness mailer
A mailer aimed at a hospital with no search history yet, building first awareness in the neighbourhood it serves.
Result: A new branch becomes known locally before it can be found in search.
How the result is measured
- Delivery rate
- Response rate
- Enquiries from mailers
Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.
What the health-camp mailer carries
Check the mailer for these six items before it goes to the printer.
A mailer is kept only if it has a date, a place and a reason. Print one page that answers a family's first questions and gives the call-taker something to log.
- Date, hours and venue
- Print the date, the hours and the venue with the road and the nearest landmark, in the local language as well as English. A senior citizen needs the address, not a map code.
- What is checked at the camp
- List the screenings in plain words, such as blood sugar and blood pressure, and only those you will actually carry out. Do not suggest that a screening replaces a doctor's examination.
- Doctor and department
- Name the doctor and department attending, with qualifications as your council's advertising rules for the profession allow. Rules differ by state and body, so check them first.
- Mailer code for the call-taker
- Print a code or a separate reply line, and train the front desk to ask for it. Log each call against the mailer so that the OPD register shows which area responded.
- Large print and language
- Use a large, plain font, since many readers are older. Keep the local language first if the catchment area reads it more readily than English.
- Next step and what to carry
- Say how to book an OPD slot and what to bring, such as old reports and current prescriptions. One clear next step is enough.
Who it is for
This is written for these hospitals.
- Multi-speciality hospitals
- Single-speciality hospitals, maternity, orthopaedic or eye
- Nursing homes
- Day-care surgery centres
- Corporate hospital chains with several branches
- Diagnostic-centre-led hospitals
- Hospitals attached to medical colleges
- Government-empanelled private hospitals
Not for
It is not the right fit if.
- Your only source of addresses is the patient register, which the hospital should not use to send promotion.
- The mailer has no date or camp to point to, so a family would have no reason to keep it.
- The households near you already know the hospital well, and print would add nothing they have not seen.
How it works
How the direct mail work runs
The work itself, in order. How an engagement starts, from your brief to a written scope, is set out on our method page.
- 1
Define who should receive it
We agree the locality, the named companies or the customer group, and what each should do after reading.
- 2
Audit and clean the list
We remove duplicates, wrong addresses and numbers on preference registers, and ask where each source gathered the data and whether the person agreed to be contacted.
- 3
Write the offer and the piece
The message is drafted for the list, with a response code or number built in before anything goes to print.
- 4
Test a small batch
A small slice goes first, changing one thing at a time, so the full run uses what worked.
- 5
Send, call and log
The full run goes out, replies are written into the log against their code, and non-replies are followed up once by a second channel.
- 6
Read the return and update the list
Cost is set against enquiries and sales by segment. Bounced mail, wrong numbers and opt-outs are removed from the master list.

Chord Road Hospital
- Situation
- Patients who knew the hospital trusted it. Patients who searched for a department or a treatment in the area did not find it.
- What we did
- Website rebuilt around patient needs
- Search visibility
- Social media on a schedule
- Review management
- Result
- Organic traffic increased 60% within six months
- Online appointment bookings increased 40%
- Social following grew 45%, and engagement on it rose 70%
Nanda Arthritis and Rheumatology Center
- Situation
- There was no website, so a patient looking for a rheumatologist had no way to learn about the centre. Enquiries were few, and the ones that arrived came by word of mouth.
- What we did
- A website for patients
- Search work
- Google Business and reviews
- Lead capture and advertising
- Result
- No numbers were recorded for this engagement. The work is described in full in the case study.

Where this fits
Three pieces of sales work, in this order.
This work sits inside sales process design, at stage 1, prospecting and lead generation. The audit comes before it, and sales management keeps it running.
Step 1
Sales audit
Find where deals are being lost and what to fix first.
Start here if you cannot say where orders are lost.
Step 2 · you are here
Sales process design

Start here if every salesperson sells differently.
Step 3
Sales management
A target, a review routine and someone who owns the number.
