Eye clinics · Buyer journey

A family's choice of eye clinic begins with a headache and ends at the optical counter.

The buyer journey for an eye clinic is the path from noticing that eyes are tired or a child squints, through asking a neighbour and searching, to the first visit, the glasses and the return a year later. GullySales maps each stage in your clinic's own terms, so you can see where families drop out.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

What buyer journey means

The buyer journey is the sequence of steps a customer actually takes, from first hearing about you to deciding to buy, which is rarely a single visit or call. GullySales maps this sequence for your business and checks that something useful happens at each step instead of only at the final call.

Last updated 6 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.

For eye clinics

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Noticing comes late and is blamed on something else”

A person puts a headache down to work and a child's squint to habit. The visit starts weeks after the first sign, when a teacher or a spouse insists.

  • “The neighbour's word comes before the search”

Families ask a neighbour or relative for a doctor and then check the Maps result. A clinic with no recent reviews loses a recommendation it should have kept.

  • “The journey ends at the optical counter”

A patient with a prescription must decide where to have it made. If the walk from the consulting room to the counter is unclear, the glasses are made elsewhere and the clinic hears nothing.

What we do

What we deliver for eye clinics.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. The journey written in your clinic's words

Each stage, from noticing to the return visit, written with the questions families ask and what your desk says at that point.

Result: The whole team sees the family's path the same way.

  2. The first call and the booking

A short routine for the call or message that asks the reason for the visit, offers a session and records the source.

Result: The first contact is answered and written down.

  3. The visit from waiting to the doctor

A written path for the patient who waits, has drops and sees the doctor, with a quiet place and an explanation for children.

Result: The visit feels looked after, not queued.

  4. The step from prescription to glasses

A handover from the doctor to the optical counter with a note, and an offer to order on the same visit.

Result: A prescription does not leave the building unfilled.

  5. The return visit

A date set at the visit, a consented reminder and a route for relatives, so the yearly check is expected by the family.

Result: The family comes back before it is forgotten.

  6. A drop-out record

Counts of enquiries, appointments kept and prescriptions filled, set against the baseline taken before work started.

Result: You see which stage loses the most families.

How the result is measured

  • Drop-off rate by step
  • Time from first contact to sale
  • Steps with no content

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Stages of this buyer's journey

How a family moves from a tired eye to a regular patient, and what the clinic should have ready.

Notices something
Headaches, a child holding a book close, trouble reading a menu, glare when driving at night. Have a page or post that names these signs in plain words and invites a check.
Asks and searches
A neighbour, a relative or the Maps result decides the shortlist. Have the profile correct, recent reviews present and a number that a person answers during sessions.
Compares a few clinics
The family weighs distance, the doctor's manner with children, whether an optical counter is on the premises and whether there is a wait. Show the sessions and the doctor's details plainly.
Visits for the check
The patient waits, has drops and sees the doctor. Have a person to explain the drops and the wait, and a quiet corner for the child.
Decides on the glasses
With the prescription in hand, the choice is between your counter and a shop nearer home. Have a handover from the doctor to the counter and an offer to order on the same visit.
Comes back, or does not
After a year the family returns or forgets. Set the recall date at the visit, send a reminder with consent and leave a card for relatives.

Who it is for

This is written for these eye clinics.

  • Single-doctor eye clinics
  • Eye clinics with an attached optical shop
  • Eye clinics that handle contact lens and dry eye care
  • Clinics with a paediatric eye focus
  • Clinics that refer cataract and retina cases
  • Small group practices of two or three eye doctors

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the work runs for eye clinics

  1. 1

    Listen to how patients return

The free audit call traces how patients arrive and how many return, and what happens after the first visit.

  2. 2

    Build a recall list

A simple record and a consented reminder.

  3. 3

    Connect the optical counter

A routine from prescription to glasses.

  4. 4

    Keep referred patients

A follow-up for patients sent for surgery.

  5. 5

    Report on visits, not activity

A report on recall visits and reviews against the baseline taken before anything changed.

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

How long do families take to decide on an eye clinic?
It varies. A person in pain decides in the same hour. A parent worried about a squint may take weeks and talk to relatives first. Write down the stages and see where your own patients wait, instead of looking for a single number.
Who else is involved in the decision besides the patient?
For a child, both parents and often the school. For a senior, a son or daughter who drives them. Write the page and the phone script for the person who decides and pays, and note who that is at the desk when they ring.
People book and then do not come. Why?
Common reasons are a closer clinic, a delay for the first slot or doubt about what the visit involves. Ring the patient before the day, say what to expect and offer another time. Note the reason for each no-show, since the reasons show what to change.
How do we find where patients drop out from our own records?
Count from the appointment book and the optical orders how many enquiries became appointments, how many appointments were kept and how many prescriptions became glasses. The step with the biggest gap is the one to look at first.
Can we advertise offers on glasses and check-ups?
Rules on health advertising differ and change, and discounts on medical services may be restricted. Optical retail is treated differently from the doctor's practice. We keep the two separate and your adviser confirms what each may say.
Can we publish patient testimonials?
Medical council rules restrict testimonials for doctors, and the position differs and changes. Reviews on a listing are written by patients themselves and are different, but your adviser should confirm how to ask for them.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
