A gear is made to a drawing, so the buyer needs to see your shop can hold it.

Most gears are made to drawing. The buyer sends the module, the number of teeth, the material and the heat treatment, and wants to know whether you can cut, harden and finish it, and check it. Until your shop is proven for a type of gear, you are only a name.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

An industrial supplier checks gears, bearings, valves and fasteners

In one paragraph

Gears are toothed wheels that transmit motion and torque, made as spur, helical, bevel, worm and other types to a customer's module and quality grade. GullySales presents a gear maker's processes, inspection and past work in the terms an OEM design or purchase team uses to shortlist a source.

The sale is therefore built on evidence of capability. Hobbing and shaping, grinding, the inspection equipment and the gearbox makers you have supplied say more than a claim that you do precision work.

Who it is for

This is written for you if gears is what you make or sell.

  • Job-work gear cutters supplying gearbox and machine builders
  • Makers of worm and worm wheel sets, bevel gears and racks
  • Gear manufacturers who also heat-treat and grind in-house
  • Makers of standard gear ranges sold through catalogues

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A shop with a single gear-cutting machine and no inspection route. The buyer will check.
  • A buyer-supplied-material shop with no wish to quote against drawings.

How buyers choose

What decides the sale of gears.

  1. The drawing with module, teeth and grade

The enquiry arrives as a drawing. The buyer reads the module, face width, material and accuracy grade and wants to see you have made something close.

  2. Heat treatment and finishing

Case hardening, induction hardening or through hardening, and whether grinding follows. A shop that cuts but sends hardening out is judged on that dependency.

  3. Inspection and the first-article report

Tooth profile and pitch measurement, with a report on the sample. Buyers decide on that report.

  4. Repeat batch and delivery

The gear goes into a gearbox with a delivery date. A shop that has delivered the same part three times is the one the buyer reorders from.

Where orders are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell gears.

In the words owners use on the first call.

  • “They send a drawing and compare us on rate”

Without a capability page that shows gear types, module range and inspection, the only visible difference between you and the next shop is rate.

  • “Our best work is for one gearbox maker”

That dependence is a risk. A second and third gearbox, pump or machine builder needs a separate pitch.

  • “Buyers ask if we do hardening and grinding and we say yes by phone”

A yes by phone is forgotten. The page and the capability sheet should say it, with the type of furnace or grinder.

The scope

The work we would propose for gears.

Measured on qualified enquiries, quotation requests, follow-up on each quotation, trial orders won and repeat orders. Anything here that needs a platform, directory or tool we have not used with you is confirmed with you before it goes in the scope.

  1. A capability page by gear type

Spur, helical, bevel, worm and others: the module range, size range, material and accuracy band you work to, each on its own page.

  2. Sample gear photographs and inspection record

A short set of images and an anonymised inspection report so an engineer sees what the output looks like.

What we do

What you get for gears.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A gear capability sheet

Gear types, module and size range, material, heat treatment and accuracy band on one page for design engineers.

  2. A drawing upload form

Gets the file and the numbers you need to quote in one go.

  3. A sample-report page

Shows the kind of inspection document you issue so the buyer can judge it early.

  4. A target list of gearbox makers

Companies that buy the gear types you can make.

How the result is measured

  • Drawings received per enquiry
  • Quotation requests by gear type
  • Sample approvals
  • Follow-up completed on each quotation
  • Repeat batches
  • Second-customer accounts opened

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What we need from you

What to have ready before we talk.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Machine list for cutting, hardening and grinding
  • Inspection equipment list
  • Photographs of finished gears and the shop floor
  • Two or three past enquiries and the quotes sent
  • Which customers allow a name reference

Export and new regions

Selling gears beyond your home market.

Where you sell decides standards, documents, payment terms and freight. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new region we start from your own enquiries, your existing buyers and the directories you already use.

  1. OEMs and gearbox makers abroad

Overseas buyers want gears to their drawing, with inspection records and a stated lead time. Begin with the export customers you already serve.

  2. Samples and tooling

Sample freight and who owns any special cutters are the questions that stall a first enquiry. Decide the answer before it comes in.

FAQ

Questions about selling gears.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Which gear types should I list?
List those you have actually made and can inspect. A claim you cannot back with a sample costs you the buyer at first-article stage.
Can we show customer drawings?
Not without permission. Use your own photographs and say the customer is under confidentiality.
How do I find a second customer?
Start with the industries that use the gear types you cut, then the machine builders in your region. A list and a short call script do most of the work.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on what is being changed and how many of the people who matter see it. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever the work touches, such as your profiles, your website or your accounts, and time with the people who can answer our questions.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

Engagement options

Ways to work with us.

Pick the size of commitment that fits. Every option starts with your brief and a conversation.

  1. Option 1

    The conversation on its own

A call after you send your brief. It says honestly whether you need outside help, and many fixes are ones your own team can make.

  2. Option 2

    One fix, scoped

Start with the fix that matters most, such as reply time or follow-up. The fee is in writing before anything starts.

  3. Option 3

    An ongoing programme

We run the work, report against the baseline, and you renew on the numbers. The term and the reporting are agreed in writing first.

  4. Option 4

Guidance for your own team or agency

We plan, brief and check the work of your in-house team or current agency, instead of replacing them.
