Pathology labs · Local SEO

Show the true collection hours in Maps, for the patient who must test before breakfast.

Local SEO for a pathology lab is the work on Google Maps and the Business Profile that decides whether you appear when someone nearby needs a blood test, a sample drawn at home or a lab open early on a Sunday. GullySales sets the categories, hours and listings so each centre shows for what it really does.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

What local SEO means

Local SEO is the work of making your business show up for searches that name your town or locality, such as a service plus an area name. GullySales sets up locality pages, local citations and map listings so nearby customers find you before a competitor across town.

Last updated 6 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.

For pathology labs

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Collection hours shown as clinic hours”

A lab that draws blood from seven in the morning but lists nine loses the fasting patient to the lab that lists the early slot. Report pickup hours are a third set of hours, and they belong in the description.

  • “Every collection point claims to be the lab”

A sample counter inside a clinic gets a pin of its own and turns up for tests it only forwards. The patient asks there about a biopsy report and is sent across town.

  • “A shared building shares a pin”

A lab on the first floor above a pharmacy, or inside a polyclinic, is merged with its neighbour on the map. Patients walk in at the wrong door, and the review says so.

What we do

What we deliver for pathology labs.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. Categories set by what each centre does

Medical laboratory as the main category, with others added only where that centre draws the samples. The categories Google currently offers are checked before anything is chosen.

Result: Each centre shows up for the tests it actually does.

  2. Hours for the early sample and the late report

First and last collection times, Sunday timing and report pickup hours entered separately, with special hours set before a festival.

Result: A fasting patient sees the true first slot before leaving home.

  3. Tests and packages listed as services

Thyroid profile, HbA1c, urine culture and your main packages added in the words patients use, with a price only where the lab can hold it.

Result: A person on the map can tell whether you run the test they need.

  4. Home collection entered as a service area

The localities your phlebotomists reach marked on the centre that sends them, with a page on the website for each.

Result: No pin pretends to have a door where there is only a route.

  5. Directory details matched to Maps

Justdial, Practo and Sulekha, plus insurer and employer vendor lists, checked against the Maps listing letter by letter, with old numbers from a previous owner removed.

Result: A patient calling from any list reaches the current desk.

  6. Photographs of the door and the waiting area

The signboard from the road, the stairs or lift, the sample counter and the seats, so an older patient knows what to look for.

Result: Fewer calls asking where the lab is.

How the result is measured

  • Map pack ranking
  • Local search visibility
  • Enquiries by locality

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What Google weighs here

How a pathology lab appears when someone nearby needs a test, and what to set first.

Relevance: category and test names
Pick Medical laboratory as the main category and add others only for what the centre does. List the tests patients name, such as thyroid profile, CBC and urine culture, as services.
Distance: one pin per visitable counter
Give a pin to each address that has staff and a signboard. A collection point inside a clinic, with no lab board, belongs on the main lab's profile as a mention.
Prominence: reviews that name the draw or the report
A review that says the draw was painless or the report came on WhatsApp supports the listing for those searches. Ask after the visit, never pay, and read the platform's current rules.
Hours that match the phlebotomist's day
Enter the first and last collection times, Sunday hours and report pickup. Change them before Diwali or any closure, because a patient at a locked door writes a review.
Home collection as a service area
Mark the localities your phlebotomists reach on the centre that sends them. Give each locality a page on your website, not a pin with no door behind it.
Justdial, Practo and vendor lists
Copy the name, address and phone from Maps exactly. Employees find a lab on the insurer or company vendor list, so ask each list to correct an old address.

Who it is for

This is written for these pathology labs.

  • Neighbourhood labs beside clinics and nursing homes
  • Labs inside a hospital or polyclinic
  • Multi-centre pathology chains in one city
  • Collection centres of a larger reference lab
  • Labs that run corporate and school camps
  • Pathology labs with their own radiology corner

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the work runs for pathology labs

  1. 1

Listen to how calls are handled

The free audit call traces where price calls and bookings come from, who answers and what happens during the morning rush.

  2. 2

Fix the first minute of the call

One price sheet, agreed answering hours and a log of every enquiry.

  3. 3

Make the lab findable for the test

Test and package pages, a Business Profile with visible prices and reviews asked for after a smooth collection.

  4. 4

Put the lab in front of the clinic

A sheet for each reception desk and a follow-up, built with your own adviser's view on what may be offered.

  5. 5

    Report on samples, not activity

A report on enquiries, collections, corporate quotes and repeat patients against the baseline taken before anything changed.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Our sample counter sits inside a doctor's clinic. Can it have a Maps listing?
Only if patients can visit it in stated hours with your name on a board. If staff come only on some mornings, describe the counter on the main lab's profile instead. A listing nobody staffs gets calls nobody answers and reviews about a closed door.
Maps shows the lab and the pharmacy next door as one place. How do we separate them?
Give your listing its own name as on the signboard, the floor and landmark in the description, and your own phone number. Report the merged pin through Maps with a photograph of both boards. The platform decides, and it may take more than one attempt.
Can the pathologist's name go in the business name?
Use the name on your signboard in the name field, and put the pathologist's name and qualification as registered in the description. Titles and tests in the name field break Google's guidelines, and advertising rules for the profession differ by state, so check yours.
A rival lists tests we doubt they offer. Should we do the same?
No. Report listings that are plainly false, with dated screenshots, and keep your own accurate. A false claim on your listing draws complaints and suspension risk that a true listing avoids. Read Google's current guidelines before you edit the services list.
Can we pay doctors who send us patients?
Commission or fee-sharing with referring doctors is restricted under medical council rules, and the position differs by state and changes. We do not design or manage any such arrangement. We build the legitimate route: a sheet for the clinic, a named contact and a follow-up.
Can we publish test prices?
Prices are what patients compare, and publishing them usually helps. Rules on health advertising differ by state and by who owns the lab. Avoid claims to be the best or the most accurate, and let your adviser confirm the wording.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
